Genesis 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'	1 Como hubiese envejecido Isaac, y no viese ya por tener debilitados sus ojos, llamó a Esaú, su hijo mayor: ¡Hijo mío!» El cual le respondió: «Aquí estoy.»
2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.	2 «Mira, dijo, me he hecho viejo e ignoro el día de mi muerte.
3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.	3 Así pues, toma tus saetas, tu aljaba y tu arco, sal al campo y me cazas alguna pieza.
4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'	4 Luego me haces un guiso suculento, como a mí me gusta, y me lo traes para que lo coma, a fin de que mi alma te bendiga antes que me muera.»
5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,	5 - Ahora bien, Rebeca estaba escuchando la conversación de Isaac con su hijo Esaú. - Esaú se fue al campo a cazar alguna pieza para el padre,
6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,	6 y entonces Rebeca dijo a su hijo Jacob: «Acabo de oír a tu padre que hablaba con tu hermano Esaú diciendo:
7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."	7 Tráeme caza, y hazme un guiso suculento para que yo lo coma y te bendiga delante de Yahveh antes de morirme.
8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.	8 Pues bien, hijo mío, hazme caso en lo que voy a recomendarte.
9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.	9 Ve al rebaño y tráeme de allí dos cabritos hermosos. Yo haré con ellos un guiso suculento para tu padre como a él le gusta,
10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'	10 y tú se lo presentas a tu padre, que lo comerá, para que te bendiga antes de su muerte.»
11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.	11 Jacob dijo a su madre Rebeca: ¡Pero si mi hermano Esaú es velludo, y yo soy lampiño!
12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'	12 ¡A ver si me palpa mi padre, y le parece que estoy mofándome de él! ¡Entonces me habré buscado una maldición en vez de una bendición!»
13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'	13 Dícele su madre: «¡Sobre mí tu maldición, hijo mío! Tú, obedéceme, basta con eso, ve y me los traes.»
14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.	14 El fue a buscarlos y los llevó a su madre, y ella hizo un guiso suculento, como le gustaba a su padre.
15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,	15 Después tomó Rebeca ropas de Esaú, su hijo mayor, las más preciosas que tenía en casa, y vistió a Jacob, su hijo pequeño.
16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.	16 Luego, con las pieles de los cabritos le cubrió las manos y la parte lampiña del cuello,
17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.	17 y puso el guiso y el pan que había hecho en las manos de su hijo Jacob.
18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'	18 Este entró a donde su padre, y dijo: «¡Padre!» El respondió: «Aquí estoy; ¿quién eres, hijo?»
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'	19 Jacob dijo a su padre: «Soy tu primogénito Esaú. He hecho como dijiste, Anda, levántate, siéntate, y come de mi caza, para que me bendiga tu alma.»
20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'	20 Dice Isaac a su hijo: «¡Qué listo has andado en hallarla, hijo!» - Respondió: «Sí; es que Yahveh, tu Dios, me la puso delante.»
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'	21 Dice Isaac a Jacob: «Acércate, que te palpe, hijo, a ver si realmente eres o no mi hijo Esaú.»
22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'	22 Acercóse Jacob a su padre Isaac, el cual le palpó y dijo: «La voz es la de Jacob, pero las manos son las manos de Esaú.»
23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.	23 Y no le reconoció, porque sus manos estaban velludas, como las de su hermano Esaú. Y se dispuso a bendecirle.
24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'	24 Dijo, pues: «¿Eres tú realmente mi hijo Esaú?» Respondió: «El mismo.»
25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.	25 Dijo entonces: «acércamelo, que coma de la caza, hijo, para que te bendiga mi alma.» Acercóle, y comió; le trajo también vino, y bebió.
26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'	26 Dícele su padre Isaac: «Acércate y bésame, hijo.»
27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.	27 El se acercó y le besó, y al aspirar Isaac el aroma de sus ropas, le bendijo diciendo: «Mira, el aroma de mi hijo como el aroma de un campo, que ha bendecido Yahveh.
28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!	28 ¡Pues que Dios te dé el rocío del cielo y la grosura de la tierra, mucho trigo y mosto!
29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!	29 Sírvante pueblos, adórente naciones, sé señor de tus hermanos y adórente los hijos de tu madre. ¡Quien te maldijere, maldito sea, y quien te bendijere, sea bendito!»
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.	30 Así que hubo concluido Isaac de bendecir a Jacob, y justo cuando acababa de salir Jacob de la presencia de su padre Isaac, llegó su hermano Esaú de su cacería.
31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'	31 Hizo también él un guiso suculento y llevándoselo a su padre le dijo: «Levántese mi padre y coma de la caza de su hijo, para que me bendiga tu alma.»
32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.	32 Dícele su padre Isaac: «¿Quién eres tú?» Contestóle: «Soy tu hijo primogénito, Esaú.»
33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'	33 A Isaac le entró un temblor fuerte, y le dijo: «Pues entonces, ¿quién es uno que ha cazado una pieza y me le ha traído? Porque de hecho yo he comido antes que tú vinieses, y le he bendecido, y bendito está.»
34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'	34 Al oír Esaú las palabras de su padre, lanzó un grito fuerte y por extremo amargo, y dijo a su padre: «¡Bendíceme también a mí, padre mío!»
35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'	35 Díjole éste: «Ha venido astutamente tu hermano, y se ha llevado tu bendición.»
36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'	36 Dijo Esaú: «Con razón se llama Jacob, pues me ha suplantado estas dos veces: se llevó mi primogenitura, y he aquí que ahora se ha llevado mi bendición.» Y añadió: «¿No has reservado alguna bendición para mí?»
37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'	37 Respondió Isaac y dijo a Esaú: «Mira, le he puesto por señor tuyo, le he dado por siervos a todos sus hermanos y le he abastecido de trigo y vino. Según eso, ¿qué voy a hacer por ti, hijo mío?»
38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.	38 Dijo Esaú a su padre: «¿Es que tu bendición es única, padre mío? ¡Bendíceme también a mí, padre mío!» Isaac guardó silencio y Esaú alzó la voz y rompió a llorar.
39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.	39 Su padre Isaac le dijo por respuesta: «He aquí que lejos de la grosura de la tierra será tu morada, y lejos del rocío que baja del cielo.
40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'	40 De tu espada vivirás y a tu hermano servirás. Mas luego, cuando te hagas libre, partirás su yugo de sobre tu cerviz.»
41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'	41 Esaú se enemistó con Jacob a causa de la bendición con que le había bendecido su padre; y se dijo Esaú: «Se acercan ya los días del luto por mi padre. Entonces mataré a mi hermano Jacob.»
42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.	42 Se dio aviso a Rebeca de las palabras de Esaú, su hijo mayor; y ella envió a llamar a Jacob, su hijo pequeño, y le dijo: «Mira que tu hermano Esaú va a vengarse de ti matándote.
43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.	43 Ahora, pues, hijo mío, hazme caso: levántate y huye a Jarán, a donde mi hermano Labán,
44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,	44 y te quedas con él una temporada, hasta que se calme la cólera de tu hermano;
45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'	45 hasta que se calme la ira de tu hermano contra ti, y olvide lo que has hecho. Entonces enviaré yo a que te traigan de allí. ¿Por qué he de perderos a los dos en un mismo día?»
46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'	46 Rebeca dijo a Isaac: «Me da asco vivir al lado de las hijas de Het. Si Jacob toma mujer de las hijas de Het como las que hay por aquí, ¿para qué seguir viviendo?»
