Genesis 27

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'	1 Isaac envelhecera e seus olhos enfraqueceram-se, de modo que não podia ver. Chamou Esaú, seu filho primogênito, e disse-lhe: "Meu filho!" " Eis-me aqui!", respondeu ele.
2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.	2 Isaac disse: "Tu vês, estou velho e não sei quando vou morrer.
3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.	3 Toma as tuas armas, tua aljava e teu arco, vai ao campo e mata-me uma caça.
4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'	4 Prepara-me depois um prato suculento, como sabes que gosto, e traze-mo para que o coma e minha alma te abençoe antes que eu morra."
5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,	5 {Ora, Rebeca ouviu atentamente enquanto Isaac falava ao seu filho Esaú.} E Esaú partiu para o campo, a fim de matar e trazer a caça.
6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,	6 Rebeca disse a Jacó, seu filho: "Acabo de ouvir teu pai dizer ao teu irmão Esaú para que lhe traga uma caça
7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."	7 e lhe prepare um bom prato, a fim de comer e o abençoar diante do Senhor antes de morrer.
8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.	8 Ouve-me, pois, meu filho, e faze o que te vou dizer.
9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.	9 Vai ao rebanho e traze-me dois belos cabritos. Prepararei com eles um prato suculento para o teu pai, como ele gosta,
10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'	10 tu lho levarás e ele comerá, a fim de que te abençoe antes de morrer."
11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.	11 "Mas, respondeu Jacó à sua mãe, Esaú, meu irmão, é peludo, enquanto eu sou de pele lisa.
12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'	12 Se meu pai me tocar, passarei aos seus olhos por um embusteiro e atrairei sobre mim uma maldição em lugar de bênção."
13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'	13 "Tomo sobre mim esta maldição, meu filho, disse sua mãe. Ouve-me somente, e vai buscar o que te digo."
14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.	14 Jacó foi e trouxe os dois cabritos, com os quais sua mãe preparou um prato suculento, como seu pai gostava.
15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,	15 Escolheu as mais belas vestes de Esaú, seu filho primogênito, que tinha em casa, e revestiu com elas Jacó, seu filho mais novo.
16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.	16 Cobriu depois suas mãos, assim como a parte lisa do pescoço, com a pele dos cabritos,
17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.	17 e pôs-lhe nas mãos o prato suculento e o pão que tinha preparado.
18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'	18 Jacó foi para junto do seu pai e disse-lhe: "Meu pai!" "Eis-me aqui! Quem és, meu filho?"
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'	19 Jacó respondeu: "Eu sou Esaú, teu primogênito; fiz o que me pediste. Levanta-te, assenta-te e come de minha caça, a fim de que tua alma me abençoe."
20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'	20 "Como encontraste caça tão depressa, meu filho?" "É que o Senhor, teu Deus, fez que ela se apresentasse diante de mim."
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'	21 "Aproxima-te, então, meu filho, para que eu te apalpe e veja se, de fato, és o meu filho Esaú."
22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'	22 Jacó aproximou-se de Isaac, seu pai, que o apalpou e disse: "A voz é a voz de Jacó, mas as mãos são as mãos de Esaú."
23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.	23 E não o reconheceu, porque suas mãos estavam peludas como as do seu irmão Esaú. E abençoou-o.
24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'	24 "Tu és bem o meu filho Esaú?" Disse-lhe ele: "Sim."
25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.	25 "{Então} serve-me, para que eu coma de tua caça, meu filho, e minha alma te abençoe." Jacó serviu-lhe e ele comeu; e trouxe-lhe também vinho, do qual ele bebeu.
26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'	26 Então Isaac, seu pai, disse-lhe: "Aproxima-te, meu filho, e beija-me."
27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.	27 E, aproximando-se Jacó para lhe dar um beijo, Isaac sentiu o perfume de suas vestes, e o abençoou nestes termos. "Sim. o odor de meu filho é como o odor de um campo que o Senhor abençoou.
28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!	28 Deus te dê o orvalho do céu e a gordura da terra, uma abundância de trigo e de vinho!
29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!	29 Sirvam-te os povos e prostrem-se as nações diante de ti! Sê o senhor dos teus irmãos, e curvem-se diante de ti os filhos de tua mãe! Maldito seja quem te amaldiçoar e bendito quem te abençoar!"
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.	30 Apenas Isaac acabara de abençoar Jacó, e este saíra de junto do seu pai, chegou Esaú da caça.
31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'	31 Preparou também ele um prato suculento e trouxe-o ao seu pai, dizendo: "Levanta-te, meu pai, e come da caça do teu filho, a fim de que tua alma me abençoe."
32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.	32 "Quem és tu?", perguntou-lhe seu pai Isaac. "Eu sou o teu filho primogênito Esaú."
33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'	33 Então Isaac, tomado de emoção violenta, exclamou: "Quem é, pois, aquele que foi à caça e me trouxe o prato que eu comi antes que tu voltasses? Eu o abençoei, e ele será bendito."
34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'	34 Ouvindo estas palavras de seu pai, Esaú soltou um grito cheio de amargura, e disse-lhe: "Abençoa-me também a mim, meu pai!"
35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'	35 "Teu irmão, respondeu-lhe Isaac, veio, fraudulentamente, tomar a tua bênção."
36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'	36 Esaú disse então: "Será porque ele se chama Jacó que me suplantou já duas vezes? Tirou-me meu direito de primogenitura, e eis que agora me rouba minha bênção!" E ajuntou: "Não reservaste, porventura, uma bênção também para mim?"
37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'	37 Isaac respondeu-lhe: "Eu o constituí teu senhor, e dei-lhe todos os seus irmãos por servos e o estabeleci na posse do trigo do vinho. Que posso ainda fazer por ti, meu filho?"
38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.	38 Esaú disse ao seu pai: "Então só tens uma bênção, meu pai? Abençoa-me também a mim, meu pai!" E pôs-se a chorar.
39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.	39 Isaac tomou a palavra: "Eis, disse ele, que a tua habitação será desprovida da gordura da terra e do orvalho que desce dos céus.
40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'	40 Viverás de tua espada, servindo o teu irmão, mas, se te libertares, quebrarás o seu jugo de cima do teu pescoço."
41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'	41 Esaú concebeu ódio por Jacó por causa da bênção que lhe tinha dado seu pai e disse em seu coração: "Virão os dias do luto de meu pai, e matarei meu irmão Jacó."
42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.	42 E foram referidas a Rebeca estas palavras do seu filho primogênito. Ela mandou chamar seu filho mais novo, Jacó, e disse-lhe: "Teu irmão Esaú quer matar-te para se vingar de ti.
43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.	43 Escuta-me, pois, meu filho: vai, foge para junto de Labão, meu irmão, em Harã;
44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,	44 fica em casa dele algum tempo, até que se acalme a cólera do teu irmão.
45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'	45 Assim que passar a sua cólera e tiver ele esquecido do que lhe fizeste, mandar-te-ei buscar. Por que perderia eu vocês dois num só dia?"
46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'	46 Rebeca disse a Isaac: "Estou desgostosa da vida por causa das filhas de Het. Se Jacó tomar uma mulher entre as filhas de Het, para que ainda viver?"
