Genesis 27

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 When Isaac had grown old, and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he summoned hiselder son Esau. 'Son!' he said, and Esau replied, 'Here I am.'	1 - Ora, Isacco era invecchiato; gli s'erano annebbiati gli occhi, e non ci poteva vedere. Chiamò dunque il figlio maggiore Esaù, e gli disse: «Figliuol mio». Il quale rispose: «Eccomi».
2 He then said, 'Look, I am old and do not know when I may die.	2 Ed il padre a lui: «Tu vedi ch'io sono invecchiato e non so quale sarà il giorno della mia morte.
3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and bow; go out into the country and hunt me some game.	3 Prendi le tue armi, la faretra e l'arco, ed esci alla campagna; quando avrai preso qualcosa di caccia,
4 Make me the kind of appetising dish I like and bring it to me to eat and I shal give you my specialblessing before I die.'	4 fammene un piatto, come sai che a me piace, e portamelo, perchè io lo mangi, e l'anima mia ti benedica prima che io muoia».
5 Rebekah was listening while Isaac was talking to his son Esau. So when Esau went into the country tohunt game for his father,	5 Il che avendo udito Rebecca, uscito che fu quegli alla campagna per adempiere il comando paterno,
6 Rebekah said to her son Jacob, 'I have just heard your father saying to your brother Esau,	6 disse al figlio Giacobbe: «Ho udito il padre tuo che parlava con Esaù tuo fratello, e gli diceva:
7 "Bring me some game and make an appetising dish for me to eat and then I shal bless you inYahweh's presence before I die."	7 - Portami della tua caccia, e fammene una pietanza, ch'io ne mangi, e ti benedica innanzi al Signore, prima di morire. -
8 Now, son, listen to me and do as I tel you.	8 Or dunque, figliuolo, da' retta al mio consiglio:
9 Go to the flock and bring me back two good kids, so that I can make the kind of special dish yourfather likes.	9 va' al gregge, e portami due capretti teneri, che io ne faccia a tuo padre di quelle pietanze ch'ei mangia volentieri,
10 Then take it to your father for him to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.'	10 così che, quando gliele avrai portate, ed ei l'abbia mangiate, ti benedica prima di morire».
11 Jacob said to his mother Rebekah, 'Look, my brother Esau is hairy, while I am smooth-skinned.	11 Rispose Giacobbe alla madre: «Tu sai che il mio fratello Esaù è peloso ed io no:
12 If my father happens to touch me, he wil see I am cheating him, and I shall bring a curse down onmyself instead of a blessing.'	12 se mio padre mi tasterà e mi sentirà, ho paura non abbia a credere ch'io volessi ingannarlo, ed io m'attiri addosso una maledizione invece della benedizione».
13 But his mother replied, 'On me be the curse, my son! Just listen to me; go and fetch me the kids.'	13 E la madre a lui: «Venga pure su me questa maledizione, figlio mio; tu, ascolta la mia voce, va', e porta quel che t'ho detto».
14 So he went to fetch them and brought them to his mother, and she made the kind of special dish hisfather liked.	14 Andò dunque, e lo portò, e lo dette alla madre. Questa ne preparò da mangiare, come sapeva piacere al padre di lui.
15 Rebekah took her elder son Esau's best clothes, which she had at home, and dressed her youngerson Jacob in them,	15 Poi lo vestì coi migliori vestiti d'Esaù, che teneva presso di sè in casa;
16 covering his arms and the smooth part of his neck with the skins of the kids.	16 e con la pelle dei capretti gli ricoprì le mani e la parte scoperta del collo.
17 She then handed the special dish and the bread she had made to her son Jacob.	17 Gli dette poi la pietanza ed i pani da lei cotti.
18 He went to his father and said, 'Father!' 'Yes?' he replied. 'Which of my sons are you?'	18 Giacobbe li portò, e disse: «Padre mio!». Quegli rispose: «Ho sentito. Chi sei tu, figlio mio?».
19 Jacob said to his father, 'I am Esau your first-born; I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eatsome of the game I have brought and then give me your soul's blessing.'	19 Disse Giacobbe: «Io sono il tuo primogenito Esaù; ho fatto come mi hai comandato: alzati dunque, siedi, e mangia della mia caccia, perchè poi l'anima tua mi benedica».
20 Isaac said to his son, 'Son, how did you succeed so quickly?' He replied, 'Because Yahweh your Godmade things go well for me.'	20 Di nuovo, disse Isacco al figliuolo: «Come hai potuto trovare tutto così presto, figlio mio?». Rispose: «È stata volontà di Dio che presto mi venisse incontro quel ch'io cercavo».
21 Isaac said to Jacob, 'Come closer, son, so that I can feel you and be sure whether you real y are myson Esau or not.'	21 Disse allora Isacco: «Vieni qua, ch'io ti tasti, figlio mio, e m'accerti se sei o no il mio figlio Esaù».
22 Jacob went closer to his father Isaac, who felt him and said, 'The voice is Jacob's voice but the armsare the arms of Esau!'	22 S'accostò quegli al padre, ed Isacco, palpato che l'ebbe, disse: «La voce, veramente, è la voce di Giacobbe; ma le mani sono le mani d'Esaù».
23 He did not recognise him since his arms were hairy like his brother Esau's, and so he blessed him.	23 Non lo riconobbe, perchè le mani pelose rassomigliavano a quelle del maggiore. Benedicendolo, dunque
24 He said, 'Are you real y my son Esau?' And he replied, 'I am.'	24 disse: «Sei tu il figliuol mio Esaù?». Rispose: «Sì, sono».
25 Isaac said, 'Serve it to me, so that I can eat my son's game and give you my special blessing.' Heserved it to him and he ate; he offered him wine, and he drank.	25 Ed egli: «Dammi i cibi fatti con la tua caccia, figlio mio, perchè l'anima mia ti benedica». Giacobbe glieli dette, e, mangiati che li ebbe, gli porse anche del vino; dopo bevuto,
26 His father Isaac said to him, 'Come closer, and kiss me, son.'	26 gli disse Isacco: «Avvicinati, figlio mio, e dammi un bacio».
27 He went closer and kissed his father, who sniffed the smel of his clothes. Then he blessed him,saying: Ah, the smel of my son is like the smel of a fertile field which Yahweh has blessed.	27 Questi s'avvicinò, e lo baciò. Subito che ebbe sentito la fragranza delle sue vesti, lo benedisse, dicendo: «Ecco, l'odore del figlio mioè come l'odore d'un campo fiorito, benedetto dal Signore.
28 May God give you dew from heaven, and the richness of the earth, abundance of grain and wine!	28 Iddio ti dia della rugiada del cielo, e della grassezza della terra, abbondanza di pane e vino;
29 Let peoples serve you and nations bow low before you! Be master of your brothers; let your mother'sother sons bow low before you! Accursed be whoever curses you and blessed be whoever blesses you!	29 a te servano i popoli, a te s'inchinino le tribù; sii il Signore de' tuoi fratelli, ed a te si prostrino i figli di tua madre. Chi ti maledirà, sia egli maledetto; e chi ti benedirà sia ricolmo di benedizioni».
30 As soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob, and just as Jacob was leaving his father Isaac, hisbrother Esau returned from hunting.	30 Aveva appena Isacco compiuto questo discorso, quando, uscito fuori Giacobbe, arrivò Esau,
31 He too made an appetising dish and brought it to his father, 'Father, please eat some of your son'sgame and then give me your special blessing.'	31 portando cotti al padre i cibi della sua caccia, e dicendo: «Alzati, padre mio, e mangia della caccia del tuo figliuolo, acciò l'anima tua mi benedica».
32 His father Isaac asked, 'Who are you?' 'I am your first-born son, Esau,' he replied.	32 Gli disse Isacco: «Chi dunque sei tu?». Rispose: «Io sono il tuo figlio primogenito Esaù».
33 At this Isaac was seized with a violent trembling and said, 'Who was it, then, that went hunting andbrought me the game? I finished eating it just before you came; I blessed him, and now blessed he wil remain!'	33 Sbigottì Isacco dallo stupore, e maravigliato in modo incredibile, disse: «Chi è dunque quegli che poco fa mi portò della sua cacciagione, ed io ne mangiai, prima che tu venissi? Io l'ho benedetto, e benedetto sarà».
34 On hearing his father's words, Esau cried out loudly and bitterly and said to his father, 'Father, blessme too!'	34 Udite Esaù le parole del padre, diede in grandi grida, come ruggendo, e costernato disse: «Benedici anche me, padre mio».
35 But he replied, 'Your brother came by fraud and took your blessing.'	35 Ma Isacco rispose: «Il tuo fratello è venuto con un inganno, e s'è presa la benedizione che ti toccava».
36 Esau said, 'His name should be Jacob right enough, for he has now supplanted me twice. First hetook my birthright, and look, now he has gone and taken my blessing! But', he added, 'have you not kept ablessing for me?'	36 Soggiunse Esaù: «Con ragione è stato chiamato Giacobbe; ecco, mi ha soppiantato un'altra volta; prima si prese la mia primogenitura, ed ora m'ha rapito la mia benedizione». E rivolto al padre gli disse: «Non hai serbato anche a me una benedizione?».
37 Isaac replied to Esau, 'I have already made him your master; I have given him al his brothers asservants, I have given him grain and wine to sustain him. So what can I do for you, son?'	37 Rispose Isacco: «Io l'ho costituito tuo signore; tutti i suoi fratelli ho sottoposti al suo servizio; gli ho assicurato frumento e vino; che posso, dopo ciò, fare ora per te, figliuol mio?».
38 Esau said to his father, 'Can you bless only once, father? Father, bless me too.' Isaac remainedsilent, and Esau began to weep aloud.	38 Al quale, Esaù: «Hai forse o padre, una sola benedizione? Ti supplico, benedici anche me». E piangendo egli con grandi grida,
39 Then his father Isaac spoke again and said: 'Far from the richness of the earth and the dew ofheaven above, your home will be.	39 commosso Isacco gli disse: «Nella grassezza della terra, e nella rugiada di su dal cielo,
40 By your sword you wil live, and your brother wil you serve. But when you win your freedom, you wilshake his yoke off your neck.'	40 sarà la tua benedizione. Vivrai della spada, e servirai al tuo fratello; ma verrà tempo che scoteraie sottrarrai dal suo giogo il tuo collo».
41 Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him, and Esau said to himself, 'Thetime to mourn for my father wil soon be here. Then I shal kil my brother Jacob.'	41 D'allora in poi Esaù ebbe in odio Giacobbe per la benedizione con la quale il padre l'aveva benedetto, e disse in cuor suo: «Verranno i giorni del lutto del padre mio, ed ucciderò il mio fratello Giacobbe».
42 When the words of Esau, her elder son, were repeated to Rebekah, she sent for her younger sonJacob and said to him, 'Look, your brother Esau means to take revenge and kil you.	42 Fu ciò risaputo da Rebecca, la quale mandò a chiamare il figlio Giacobbe, e gli disse: «Ecco, Esaù tuo fratello minaccia di ucciderti.
43 Now, son, listen to me; go at once and take refuge with my brother Laban in Haran.	43 Dunque, figlio mio, ascoltami; fuggi presto a Labano fratello mio in Haran;
44 Stay with him a while, until your brother's fury cools,	44 starai con lui un po' di tempo, finchè non si calmi il furore del tuo fratello,
45 until your brother's anger is diverted from you and he forgets what you have done to him. Then Ishall send someone to bring you back. I do not want to lose you both on one day!'	45 cessi il suo sdegno, ed egli dimentichi quel che hai fatto in suo danno; allora manderò a chiamarti, e a ricondurti qui. Perchè dovrei perdere ambedue i figli in un giorno?».
46 Rebekah said to Isaac, 'The Hittite women sicken me to death. If Jacob were to marry a Hittitewoman like these, one of the local women, what would there be left in life for me?'	46 Ad Isacco poi disse: «M'è grave la vita, a causa di quelle figliuole di Het; se anche Giacobbe prendesse in moglie una di quella razza, non vorrei più vivere».
