1 Abraham married another wife whose name was Keturah;	1 ויסף אברהם ויקח אשה ושמה קטורה
2 and she bore him Zimram, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah.	2 ותלד לו את זמרן ואת יקשן ואת מדן ואת מדין ואת ישבק ואת שוח
3 Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan, and the descendants of Dedan were the Asshurites, theLetushim and the Leummim.	3 ויקשן ילד את שבא ואת דדן ובני דדן היו אשורם ולטושים ולאמים
4 The descendants of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida and Eldaah. Al these were sons ofKeturah.	4 ובני מדין עיפה ועפר וחנך ואבידע ואלדעה כל אלה בני קטורה
5 Abraham left al his possessions to Isaac.	5 ויתן אברהם את כל אשר לו ליצחק
6 To the sons of his concubines Abraham made grants during his lifetime, sending them away from hisson Isaac eastward, to the Land of the East.	6 ולבני הפילגשים אשר לאברהם נתן אברהם מתנת וישלחם מעל יצחק בנו בעודנו חי קדמה אל ארץ קדם
7 The number of years Abraham lived was a hundred and seventy-five.	7 ואלה ימי שני חיי אברהם אשר חי מאת שנה ושבעים שנה וחמש שנים
8 When Abraham had breathed his last, dying at a happy ripe age, old and ful of years, he wasgathered to his people.	8 ויגוע וימת אברהם בשיבה טובה זקן ושבע ויאסף אל עמיו
9 His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah facing Mamre, in the field of Ephronthe Hittite son of Zohar.	9 ויקברו אתו יצחק וישמעאל בניו אל מערת המכפלה אל שדה עפרן בן צחר החתי אשר על פני ממרא
10 This was the field that Abraham had bought from the Hittites, and Abraham and his wife Sarah wereburied there.	10 השדה אשר קנה אברהם מאת בני חת שמה קבר אברהם ושרה אשתו
11 After Abraham's death, God blessed his son Isaac. Isaac settled near the wel of Lahai Roi.	11 ויהי אחרי מות אברהם ויברך אלהים את יצחק בנו וישב יצחק עם באר לחי ראי
12 These are the descendants of Ishmael son of Abraham by Hagar, Sarah's Egyptian slave-girl.	12 ואלה תלדת ישמעאל בן אברהם אשר ילדה הגר המצרית שפחת שרה לאברהם
13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael by name and line: Ishmael's first-born was Nebaioth;then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,	13 ואלה שמות בני ישמעאל בשמתם לתולדתם בכר ישמעאל נבית וקדר ואדבאל ומבשם
14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa,	14 ומשמע ודומה ומשא
15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish and Kedemah.	15 חדד ותימא יטור נפיש וקדמה
16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, according to their settlements andencampments, twelve chiefs of as many tribes.	16 אלה הם בני ישמעאל ואלה שמתם בחצריהם ובטירתם שנים עשר נשיאם לאמתם
17 The number of years Ishmael lived was one hundred and thirty-seven. When he breathed his lastand died, he was gathered to his people.	17 ואלה שני חיי ישמעאל מאת שנה ושלשים שנה ושבע שנים ויגוע וימת ויאסף אל עמיו
18 He lived in the territory stretching from Havilah-by-Shur just outside Egypt on the way to Assyria, andhe held his own against all his kinsmen.	18 וישכנו מחוילה עד שור אשר על פני מצרים באכה אשורה על פני כל אחיו נפל
19 This is the story of Isaac son of Abraham. Abraham fathered Isaac.	19 ואלה תולדת יצחק בן אברהם אברהם הוליד את יצחק
20 Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah the daughter of Bethuel the Aramaean ofPaddan-Aram, and sister of Laban the Aramaean.	20 ויהי יצחק בן ארבעים שנה בקחתו את רבקה בת בתואל הארמי מפדן ארם אחות לבן הארמי לו לאשה
21 Isaac prayed to Yahweh on behalf of his wife, for she was barren. Yahweh heard his prayer, and hiswife Rebekah conceived.	21 ויעתר יצחק ליהוה לנכח אשתו כי עקרה הוא ויעתר לו יהוה ותהר רבקה אשתו
22 But the children inside her struggled so much that she said, 'If this is the way of it, why go on living?'So she went to consult Yahweh,	22 ויתרצצו הבנים בקרבה ותאמר אם כן למה זה אנכי ותלך לדרש את יהוה
23 and Yahweh said to her: There are two nations in your womb, your issue wil be two rival peoples.One nation wil have the mastery of the other, and the elder wil serve the younger.	23 ויאמר יהוה לה שני גיים בבטנך ושני לאמים ממעיך יפרדו ולאם מלאם יאמץ ורב יעבד צעיר
24 When the time came for her confinement, there were indeed twins in her womb.	24 וימלאו ימיה ללדת והנה תומם בבטנה
25 The first to be born was red, altogether like a hairy cloak; so they named him Esau.	25 ויצא הראשון אדמוני כלו כאדרת שער ויקראו שמו עשו
26 Then his brother was born, with his hand grasping Esau's heel; so they named him Jacob. Isaac wassixty years old at the time of their birth.	26 ואחרי כן יצא אחיו וידו אחזת בעקב עשו ויקרא שמו יעקב ויצחק בן ששים שנה בלדת אתם
27 When the boys grew up Esau became a skil ed hunter, a man of the open country. Jacob on theother hand was a quiet man, staying at home among the tents.	27 ויגדלו הנערים ויהי עשו איש ידע ציד איש שדה ויעקב איש תם ישב אהלים
28 Isaac preferred Esau, for he had a taste for wild game; but Rebekah preferred Jacob.	28 ויאהב יצחק את עשו כי ציד בפיו ורבקה אהבת את יעקב
29 Once, when Jacob was cooking a stew, Esau returned from the countryside exhausted.	29 ויזד יעקב נזיד ויבא עשו מן השדה והוא עיף
30 Esau said to Jacob, 'Give me a mouthful of that red stuff there; I am exhausted' -- hence the namegiven to him, Edom.	30 ויאמר עשו אל יעקב הלעיטני נא מן האדם האדם הזה כי עיף אנכי על כן קרא שמו אדום
31 Jacob said, 'First, give me your birthright in exchange.'	31 ויאמר יעקב מכרה כיום את בכרתך לי
32 Esau said, 'Here I am, at death's door; what use is a birthright to me?'	32 ויאמר עשו הנה אנכי הולך למות ולמה זה לי בכרה
33 Then Jacob said, 'First give me your oath'; he gave him his oath and sold his birthright to Jacob.	33 ויאמר יעקב השבעה לי כיום וישבע לו וימכר את בכרתו ליעקב
34 Then Jacob gave him some bread and lentil stew; he ate, drank, got up and went away. That was allEsau cared about his birthright.	34 ויעקב נתן לעשו לחם ונזיד עדשים ויאכל וישת ויקם וילך ויבז עשו את הבכרה
