NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the holy ones who are (in Ephesus) faithful in Christ Jesus:1 Paulus, apostolus Christi Iesu per voluntatem Dei, sanctis, qui suntEphesi, et fidelibus in Christo Iesu:
2 grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2 gratia vobis et pax a Deo Patre nostroet Domino Iesu Christo.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,3 Benedictus Deus et Pater Domini nostri Iesu Christi,
qui benedixit nos in omni benedictione spiritali in caelestibus in Christo,
4 as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love4 sicut elegit nos in ipso ante mundi constitutionem,
ut essemus sancti et immaculati in conspectu eius in caritate;
5 he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will,5 qui praedestinavit nos in adoptionem filiorum
per Iesum Christum in ipsum,
secundum beneplacitum voluntatis suae,
6 for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.6 in laudem gloriae gratiae suae,
in qua gratificavit nos in Dilecto,
7 In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace7 in quo habemus redemptionem per sanguinem eius,
remissionem peccatorum,
secundum divitias gratiae eius,
8 that he lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight,8 quam superabundare fecit in nobis
in omni sapientia et prudentia,
9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him9 notum faciens nobis mysterium voluntatis suae,
secundum beneplacitum eius, quod proposuit in eo,
10 as a plan for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.10 in dispensationem plenitudinis temporum:
recapitulare omnia in Christo,
quae in caelis et quae in terra, in ipso;
11 In him we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the one who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,11 in quo etiam sorte vocati sumus, praedestinati secundum propositum eius, quiomnia operatur secundum consilium voluntatis suae,
12 so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ.12 ut simus in laudem gloriaeeius, qui ante speravimus in Christo;
13 In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit,13 in quo et vos cum audissetis verbumveritatis, evangelium salutis vestrae, in quo et credentes signati estis Spiritupromissionis Sancto,
14 which is the first installment of our inheritance toward redemption as God's possession, to the praise of his glory.14 qui est arrabo hereditatis nostrae in redemptionemacquisitionis, in laudem gloriae ipsius.
15 Therefore, I, too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the holy ones,15 Propterea et ego audiens fidem vestram, quae est in Domino Iesu, etdilectionem in omnes sanctos,
16 do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,16 non cesso gratias agens pro vobis memoriamfaciens in orationibus meis,
17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.17 ut Deus Domini nostri Iesu Christi, Patergloriae, det vobis Spiritum sapientiae et revelationis in agnitione eius,
18 May the eyes of (your) hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones,18 illuminatos oculos cordis vestri, ut sciatis quae sit spes vocationis eius, quaedivitiae gloriae hereditatis eius in sanctis,
19 and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe, in accord with the exercise of his great might,19 et quae sit supereminensmagnitudo virtutis eius in nos, qui credimus, secundum operationem potentiaevirtutis eius,
20 which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,20 quam operatus est in Christo, suscitans illum a mortuis etconstituens ad dexteram suam in caelestibus
21 far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age but also in the one to come.21 supra omnem principatum etpotestatem et virtutem et dominationem et omne nomen, quod nominatur non solumin hoc saeculo sed et in futuro;
22 And he put all things beneath his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,22 et omnia subiecit sub pedibus eius et ipsumdedit caput supra omnia ecclesiae,
23 which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.23 quae est corpus ipsius, plenitudo eius,qui omnia in omnibus adimpletur.
