Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, to the holy ones who are (in Ephesus) faithful in Christ Jesus:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, by the will of God, to all the saints who are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.2 Grace be to you, and peace from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,3 Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places, in Christ:
as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blemish before him. In love4 As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unspotted in his sight in charity.
he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ, in accord with the favor of his will,5 Who hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto himself: according to the purpose of his will:
for the praise of the glory of his grace that he granted us in the beloved.6 Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us in his beloved son.
In him we have redemption by his blood, the forgiveness of transgressions, in accord with the riches of his grace7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace,
that he lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight,8 Which hath superabounded in us in all wisdom and prudence,
he has made known to us the mystery of his will in accord with his favor that he set forth in him9 That he might make known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he hath purposed in him,
as a plan for the fullness of times, to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.10 In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him.
In him we were also chosen, destined in accord with the purpose of the one who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,11 In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will.
so that we might exist for the praise of his glory, we who first hoped in Christ.12 That we may be unto the praise of his glory, we who before hoped Christ:
In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised holy Spirit,13 In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise,
which is the first installment of our inheritance toward redemption as God's possession, to the praise of his glory.14 Who is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of acquisition, unto the praise of his glory.
Therefore, I, too, hearing of your faith in the Lord Jesus and of your love for all the holy ones,15 Wherefore I also, hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love towards all the saints,
do not cease giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers,16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making commemoration of you in my prayers,
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation resulting in knowledge of him.17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the knowledge of him:
May the eyes of (your) hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call, what are the riches of glory in his inheritance among the holy ones,18 The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what the hope is of the glory of his inheritance in the saints.
and what is the surpassing greatness of his power for us who believe, in accord with the exercise of his great might,19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us, who believe according to the operation of the might of his power,
which he worked in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in the heavens,20 Which he wrought in Christ, raising him up from the dead, and setting him on his right hand in the heavenly places.
far above every principality, authority, power, and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age but also in the one to come.21 Above all principality, and power, and virtue, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
And he put all things beneath his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,22 And he hath subjected all things under his feet, and hath made him head over all the church,
which is his body, the fullness of the one who fills all things in every way.23 Which is his body, and the fulness of him who is filled all in all.
