¹ As soon as morning came, the chief priests with the elders and the scribes, that is, the whole Sanhedrin, held a council. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.	¹ And as soon as it was morning the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him to Pilate.
² Pilate questioned him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" He said to him in reply, "You say so."	² And Pilate asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" And he answered him, "You have said so."

⁴ Again Pilate questioned him, "Have you no answer? See how many things they accuse you of."	⁴ And Pilate again asked him, "Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you."

³² Let the Messiah, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe." ³⁴ And at three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"	³⁴ And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, "Elo-i, Elo-i, lama sabach-thani?" which means, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
³⁵ Some of the bystanders who heard it said, "Look, he is calling Elijah."	³⁵ And some of the bystanders hearing it said, "Behold, he is calling Elijah."
³⁶ One of them ran, soaked a sponge with wine, put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to take him down."	³⁶ And one ran and, filling a sponge full of vinegar, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, "Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down."
³⁷ Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.	³⁷ And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed his last.
