Mark 13

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 As he was making his way out of the temple area one of his disciples said to him, "Look, teacher, what stones and what buildings!"	1 Comme il s'en allait hors du Temple, un de ses disciples lui dit: "Maître, regarde, quelles pierres!quelles constructions!"
2 Jesus said to him, "Do you see these great buildings? There will not be one stone left upon another that will not be thrown down."	2 Et Jésus lui dit: "Tu vois ces grandes constructions? Il n'en restera pas pierre sur pierre qui ne soitjetée bas."
3 As he was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple area, Peter, James, John, and Andrew asked him privately,	3 Et comme il était assis sur le mont des Oliviers en face du Temple, Pierre, Jacques, Jean et Andrél'interrogeaient en particulier:
4 "Tell us, when will this happen, and what sign will there be when all these things are about to come to an end?"	4 "Dis-nous quand cela aura lieu et quel sera le signe que tout cela va finir?"
5 Jesus began to say to them, "See that no one deceives you.	5 Alors Jésus se mit à leur dire: "Prenez garde qu'on ne vous abuse.
6 Many will come in my name saying, 'I am he,' and they will deceive many.	6 Il en viendra beaucoup sous mon nom, qui diront: C'est moi, et ils abuseront bien des gens.
7 When you hear of wars and reports of wars do not be alarmed; such things must happen, but it will not yet be the end.	7 Lorsque vous entendrez parler de guerres et de rumeurs de guerres, ne vous alarmez pas: il faut quecela arrive, mais ce ne sera pas encore la fin.
8 Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes from place to place and there will be famines. These are the beginnings of the labor pains.	8 On se dressera, en effet, nation contre nation et royaume contre royaume. Il y aura par endroits destremblements de terre, il y aura des famines. Ce sera le commencement des douleurs de l'enfantement.
9 "Watch out for yourselves. They will hand you over to the courts. You will be beaten in synagogues. You will be arraigned before governors and kings because of me, as a witness before them.	9 "Soyez sur vos gardes. On vous livrera aux sanhédrins, vous serez battus de verges dans lessynagogues et vous comparaîtrez devant des gouverneurs et des rois, à cause de moi, pour rendre témoignage enface d'eux.
10 But the gospel must first be preached to all nations.	10 Il faut d'abord que l'Evangile soit proclamé à toutes les nations.
11 When they lead you away and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say. But say whatever will be given to you at that hour. For it will not be you who are speaking but the holy Spirit.	11 "Et quand on vous emmènera pour vous livrer, ne vous préoccupez pas de ce que vous direz, maisdites ce qui vous sera donné sur le moment: car ce n'est pas vous qui parlerez, mais l'Esprit Saint.
12 Brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.	12 Le frère livrera son frère à la mort, et le père son enfant; les enfants se dresseront contre leursparents et les feront mourir.
13 You will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.	13 Et vous serez haïs de tous à cause de mon nom, mais celui qui aura tenu bon jusqu'au bout, celui-làsera sauvé.
14 "When you see the desolating abomination standing where he should not (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains,	14 "Lorsque vous verrez l'abomination de la désolation installée là où elle ne doit pas être (que lelecteur comprenne!) alors que ceux qui seront en Judée s'enfuient dans les montagnes,
15 (and) a person on a housetop must not go down or enter to get anything out of his house,	15 que celui qui sera sur la terrasse ne descende pas pour rentrer dans sa maison et prendre ses affaires;
16 and a person in a field must not return to get his cloak.	16 et que celui qui sera aux champs ne retourne pas en arrière pour prendre son manteau!
17 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days.	17 Malheur à celles qui seront enceintes et à celles qui allaiteront en ces jours-là!
18 Pray that this does not happen in winter.	18 Priez pour que cela ne tombe pas en hiver.
19 For those times will have tribulation such as has not been since the beginning of God's creation until now, nor ever will be.	19 Car en ces jours-là il y aura une tribulation telle qu'il n'y en a pas eu de pareille depuis lecommencement de la création qu'a créée Dieu jusqu'à ce jour, et qu'il n'y en aura jamais plus.
20 If the Lord had not shortened those days, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect whom he chose, he did shorten the days.	20 Et si le Seigneur n'avait abrégé ces jours, nul n'aurait eu la vie sauve; mais à cause des élus qu'il achoisis, il a abrégé ces jours.
21 If anyone says to you then, 'Look, here is the Messiah! Look, there he is!' do not believe it.	21 Alors si quelqu'un vous dit: Voici: le Christ est ici!, Voici: il est là!, n'en croyez rien.
22 False messiahs and false prophets will arise and will perform signs and wonders in order to mislead, if that were possible, the elect.	22 Il surgira, en effet, des faux Christs et des faux prophètes qui opéreront des signes et des prodigespour abuser, s'il était possible, les élus.
23 Be watchful! I have told it all to you beforehand.	23 Pour vous, soyez en garde: je vous ai prévenus de tout.
24 "But in those days after that tribulation the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light,	24 Mais en ces jours-là, après cette tribulation, le soleil s'obscurcira, la lune ne donnera plus salumière,
25 and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.	25 les étoiles se mettront à tomber du ciel et les puissances qui sont dans les cieux seront ébranlées.
26 And then they will see 'the Son of Man coming in the clouds' with great power and glory,	26 Et alors on verra le Fils de l'homme venant dans des nuées avec grande puissance et gloire.
27 and then he will send out the angels and gather (his) elect from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of the sky.	27 Et alors il enverra les anges pour rassembler ses élus, des quatre vents, de l'extrémité de la terre àl'extrémité du ciel.
28 "Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near.	28 "Du figuier apprenez cette parabole. Dès que sa ramure devient flexible et que ses feuilles poussent,vous comprenez que l'été est proche.

30 Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place.	30 En vérité je vous le dis, cette génération ne passera pas que tout cela ne soit arrivé.
31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.	31 Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point.
32 "But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.	32 "Quant à la date de ce jour, ou à l'heure, personne ne les connaît, ni les anges dans le ciel, ni le Fils,personne que le Père.
33 Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.	33 "Soyez sur vos gardes, veillez, car vous ne savez pas quand ce sera le moment.
34 It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch.	34 Il en sera comme d'un homme parti en voyage: il a quitté sa maison, donné pouvoir à ses serviteurs,à chacun sa tâche, et au portier il a recommandé de veiller.
35 Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning.	35 Veillez donc, car vous ne savez pas quand le maître de la maison va venir, le soir, à minuit, au chantdu coq ou le matin,
36 May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping.	36 de peur que, venant à l'improviste, il ne vous trouve endormis.
37 What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'"	37 Et ce que je vous dis à vous, je le dis à tous: veillez!"
