1 She made their affairs prosper through the holy prophet.	1 Essa fa prosperare le loro azioni per mezzo di un profeta santo:
2 They journeyed through the uninhabited desert, and in solitudes they pitched their tents;	2 penetrarono in un deserto inospitale, fissando le loro tende in luoghi invalicabili;
3 they withstood enemies and took vengeance on their foes.	3 resistettero ai nemici e respinsero gli avversari;
4 When they thirsted, they called upon you, and water was given them from the sheer rock, assuagement for their thirst from the hard stone.	4 soffrirono la sete e ti invocarono, e, per loro, scaturì l’acqua da una rupe a picco, il refrigerio alla sete, da una dura pietra.

14 Him who of old had been cast out in exposure they indeed mockingly rejected; but in the end of events, they marveled at him, since their thirst proved unlike that of the just.	14 Di colui che infatti, prima, rigettato ed esposto, avevano sconfessato con scherno, si meravigliarono al concludersi degli eventi: presi da una sete ben diversa da quella dei giusti.
15 And in return for their senseless, wicked thoughts, which misled them into worshiping dumb serpents and worthless insects, You sent upon them swarms of dumb creatures for vengeance;	15 A causa dei pensieri sciocchi della loro empietà, per cui essi, tratti in errore, prestarono culto a rettili senza ragione e a vili bestiole,

19 Not only could these attack and completely destroy them; even their frightful appearance itself could slay.	19 di cui non solo l’attacco poteva sterminarli ma il semplice spavento poteva ucciderli.
20 Even without these, they could have been killed at a single blast, pursued by retribution and winnowed out by your mighty spirit; But you have disposed all things by measure and number and weight.	20 Anche senza questo, potevano cadere con un tuo soffio, messi in fuga dalla giustizia, e dispera dal spirito della tua potenza. Tu, però, disponi tutto, con misura, numero e peso!
21 For with you great strength abides always; who can resist the might of your arm?	21 Infatti è cosa ordinaria per te prevalere con forza: alla potenza del tuo braccio chi può resistere?
22 Indeed, before you the whole universe is as a grain from a balance, or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth.	22 Perché tutto il mondo è davanti a te come pulviscolo sulla bilancia, e come goccia di rugiada che, prima di far luce, cade sulla terra;
23 But you have mercy on all, because you can do all things; and you overlook the sins of men that they may repent.	23 tu hai pietà di tutti, perché puoi tutto, e dimentichi i peccati degli uomini affinché si convertano!
24 For you love all things that are and loathe nothing that you have made; for what you hated, you would not have fashioned.	24 Poiché tu ami tutti gli esseri e non detesti nulla di quanto hai fatto: certo, se tu odiassi qualche cosa, non l’avresti formata.
25 And how could a thing remain, unless you willed it; or be preserved, had it not been called forth by you?	25 E poi, come potrebbe durare qualche cosa, se tu non volessi?O conservarsi ciò che non è chiamato da te?
26 But you spare all things, because they are yours, O LORD and lover of souls,	26 Ma tu risparmi tutte le cose perché sono tue, o Signore, amico della vita,
