1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.	1 O homem que despreza com cerviz dura a quem o repreende, cairá de repente em total ruína, e não terá mais remédio. Sob o governo dos justos está alegre o povo; quando os ímpios tomam o governo, o povo geme.
2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.	3 O homem que ama a sabedoria, alegra seu pai; o que porém frequenta mulheres dissolutas, perderá os seus bens.
4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.	4 O rei firma o seu país pela justiça; porém o (que é ávido) de presentes destruí-lo-á.
5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.	5 O homem que, quando fala ao seu próximo usa de uma linguagem lisonjeira e fingida, arma uma rede aos seus passos.
6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.	6 O homem pecador e iníquo cairá no (seu mesmo) laço; e o justo rejubilará, regozijar-se-á. O justo conhece a causa dos pobres; porém o ímpio ignora a ciência.
7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.	8 Os homens corrompidos sopram (o fogo) à cidade; os sábios porém acalmam o furor.
9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.	9 Se o homem sábio disputar com o insensato, quer ele se agaste, quer se ria, não haverá descanso.
10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.	10 Os homens sanguinários aborrecem o que é íntegro, mas os justos procuram conservar-lhe a vida.
11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.	11 O insensato diz logo tudo o que tem no espírito; o sábio não se apressa, mas reserva-se para depois.
12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.	12 O príncipe que ouve de bom grado as palavras da mentira, só os ímpios tem por servidores.
13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.	13 O pobre e o opressor encontram-se o Senhor é que alumia um e outro.
14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.	14 Quando o rei julga os pobres conforme a verdade, o seu trono se firmará para sempre,
15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.	15 A vara e a correcção dão sabedoria; o menino porém, abandonado à sua vontade, é a vergonha de sua mãe.
16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.	16 Com a multiplicação dos ímpios se multiplicarão as maldades; os justos verão a sua ruína.
17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.	17 Corrige o teu filho, e ele consolar-te-á, será as delícias da tua alma.
18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.	18 Quando faltar a revelação, dissipar-se-á o povo; aquele porém que guarda a lei é bem-aventurado.
19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.	19 Não bastam as palavras para corrigir um escravo, porque ele compreende o que tu dizes, mas despreza obedecer.
20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!	20 Viste um homem precipitado no falar? Há mais a esperar dum insensato que dele.
21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.	21 Aquele que cria delicadamente o seu criado desde a infância, depois terá de que se doer. O homem colérico excita rixas; o que fàcilmente se Indigna será muito propenso a pecar.
22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.	23 O orgulho dum homem condu-lo à humilhação; porém o humilde de espírito será glorificado.
24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.	24 Aquele que se associa com o ladrão, aborrece a sua própria alma; ouve a maldição e nada denuncia.
25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.	25 Aquele que teme o homem, cairá num laço. o que espera no Senhor estará seguro.
26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.	26 São muitos os que buscam a face (o favor) do príncipe; porém do Senhor depende a verdadeira sentença de cada um. Os justos abominam o homem ímpio, e os ímpios abominam aqueles que estão no caminho recto.
27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
