Proverbs 21

1 Like a stream is the king's heart in the hand of the LORD; wherever it pleases him, he directs it.	1 O coração do rei é uma água fluente nas mãos do Senhor: ele o inclina para qualquer parte que quiser.
2 All the ways of a man may be right in his own eyes, but it is the LORD who proves hearts.	2 Os caminhos do homem parecem retos aos seus olhos, mas cabe ao Senhor pesar os corações.
3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.	3 A prática da justiça e da eqüidade vale aos olhos do Senhor mais que os sacrifícios.
4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart-- the tillage of the wicked is sin.	4 Olhares altivos ensoberbecem o coração; o luzeiro dos ímpios é o pecado.
5 The plans of the diligent are sure of profit, but all rash haste leads certainly to poverty.	5 Os planos do homem ativo produzem abundância; a precipitação só traz penúria.
6 He who makes a fortune by a lying tongue is chasing a bubble over deadly snares.	6 Tesouros adquiridos pela mentira: vaidade passageira para os que procuram a morte.
7 The oppression of the wicked will sweep them away, because they refuse to do what is right.	7 A violência dos ímpios os conduz à {ruína}, porque se recusam a praticar a justiça.
8 The way of the culprit is crooked, but the conduct of the innocent is right.	8 O caminhos do perverso é tortuoso, mas o inocente age com retidão.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than in a roomy house with a quarrelsome woman.	9 Melhor é habitar num canto do terraço do que conviver com uma mulher impertinente.
10 The soul of the wicked man desires evil; his neighbor finds no pity in his eyes.	10 A alma do ímpio deseja o mal; nem mesmo seu amigo encontrará graça a seus olhos.
11 When the arrogant man is punished, the simple are the wiser; when the wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.	11 Quando se pune o zombador, o simples torna-se sábio; quando se adverte o sábio, ele adquire a ciência.
12 The just man appraises the house of the wicked: there is one who brings down the wicked to ruin.	12 O justo observa a cada do ímpio e precipita os maus na desventura.
13 He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will himself also call and not be heard.	13 Quem se faz de surdo aos gritos do pobre não será ouvido, quando ele mesmo clamar.
14 A secret gift allays anger, and a concealed present, violent wrath.	14 Um presente dado sob o manto extingue a cólera; uma oferta concebida às ocultas acalma um furor violento.
15 To practice justice is a joy for the just, but terror for evildoers.	15 Para o justo é uma alegria a prática da justiça, mas é um terror para aqueles que praticam a iniqüidade.
16 The man who strays from the way of good sense will abide in the assembly of the shades.	16 O homem que se desvia do caminho da prudência repousará na companhia das trevas.
17 He who loves pleasure will suffer want; he who loves wine and perfume will not be rich.	17 O que ama os banquetes será um homem indigente; o que ama o vinho e o óleo não se enriquecerá.
18 The wicked man serves as ransom for the just, and the faithless man for the righteous.	18 O ímpio serve de resgate para o justo e o pérfido para os homens retos.

21 He who pursues justice and kindness will find life and honor.	21 Quem segue a justiça e a misericórdia, achará vida, justiça e glória.
22 The wise man storms a city of the mighty, and overthrows the stronghold in which it trusts.	22 O sábio toma de assalto a cidade dos heróis: destrói a fortaleza em que depositava confiança.
23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from trouble.	23 Quem vigia sua boca e sua língua preserva sua vida da angústia.
24 Arrogant is the name for the man of overbearing pride who acts with scornful effrontery.	24 Chamamos de zombador um soberbo arrogante, que age com orgulho desmedido.
25 The sluggard's propensity slays him, for his hands refuse to work.	25 Os desejos do preguiçoso o matam porque suas mãos recusam o trabalho;
26 Some are consumed with avarice all the day, but the just man gives unsparingly.	26 passam todo o dia a desejar com ardor, mas quem é justo dá largamente.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination, the more so when they offer it with a bad intention.	27 O sacrifício dos ímpios é abominável, mormente quando o oferecem com má intenção.
28 The false witness will perish, but he who listens will finally have his say.	28 A testemunha mentirosa perecerá, mas o homem que escuta sempre poderá falar.
29 The wicked man is brazenfaced, but the upright man pays heed to his ways.	29 O ímpio aparenta um ar firme; o homem correto consolida seu proceder.
30 There is no wisdom, no understanding, no counsel, against the LORD.	30 Nem a sabedoria, nem prudência, nem conselho podem prevalescer contra o Senhor.
31 The horse is equipped for the day of battle, but victory is the LORD'S.	31 Prepara-se o cavalo para o dia da batalha, mas é do senhor que depende a vitória.
