Proverbs 21

1 Like a stream is the king's heart in the hand of the LORD; wherever it pleases him, he directs it.	1 Corriente de agua es el corazón del rey en la mano de Yahveh, que él dirige donde quiere.
2 All the ways of a man may be right in his own eyes, but it is the LORD who proves hearts.	2 Al hombre le parecen rectos todos sus caminos, pero es Yahveh quien pesa los corazones.
3 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.	3 Practicar la justicia y la equidad, es mejor ante Yahveh que el sacrificio.
4 Haughty eyes and a proud heart-- the tillage of the wicked is sin.	4 Ojos altivos, corazón arrogante, antorcha de malvados, es pecado.
5 The plans of the diligent are sure of profit, but all rash haste leads certainly to poverty.	5 Los proyectos del diligente, todo son ganancia; para el que se precipita, todo es indigencia.
6 He who makes a fortune by a lying tongue is chasing a bubble over deadly snares.	6 Hacer tesoros con lengua engañosa, es vanidad fugitiva de quienes buscan la muerte.
7 The oppression of the wicked will sweep them away, because they refuse to do what is right.	7 La violencia de los malos los domina, porque se niegan a practicar la equidad.
8 The way of the culprit is crooked, but the conduct of the innocent is right.	8 Tortuoso es el camino del hombre criminal, pero el puro es recto en sus obras.
9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop than in a roomy house with a quarrelsome woman.	9 Mejor es vivir en la esquina del terrado, que casa en común con mujer litigiosa.
10 The soul of the wicked man desires evil; his neighbor finds no pity in his eyes.	10 El alma del malvado desea el mal, su vecino no halla gracia a sus ojos.
11 When the arrogant man is punished, the simple are the wiser; when the wise man is instructed, he gains knowledge.	11 Cuando se castiga al arrogante, el simple se hace sabio; cuando se instruye al sabio, adquiere ciencia.
12 The just man appraises the house of the wicked: there is one who brings down the wicked to ruin.	12 El Justo observa la casa del malvado, y arroja a los malvados a la desgracia.
13 He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will himself also call and not be heard.	13 Quien cierra los oídos a las súplicas del débil clamará también él y no hallará respuesta.
14 A secret gift allays anger, and a concealed present, violent wrath.	14 Regalo a escondidas, aplaca la cólera, y obsequio oculto, la ira violenta.
15 To practice justice is a joy for the just, but terror for evildoers.	15 Alegría para el justo es el cumplimiento de la justicia, pero horror para los que hacen el mal.
16 The man who strays from the way of good sense will abide in the assembly of the shades.	16 El hombre que se aparta del camino de la prudencia reposará en la asamblea de las sombras.
17 He who loves pleasure will suffer want; he who loves wine and perfume will not be rich.	17 Se arruina el hombre que ama el placer, no será rico el aficionado a banquetes.
18 The wicked man serves as ransom for the just, and the faithless man for the righteous.	18 Rescate del justo es el malo, y en lugar de los rectos, el traidor.
19 It is better to dwell in a wilderness than with a quarrelsome and vexatious wife.	19 Mejor es habitar en el desierto que con mujer litigiosa y triste.
20 Precious treasure remains in the house of the wise, but the fool consumes it.	20 Tesoro precioso y aceite en la casa del sabio, pero el hombre necio los devora.
21 He who pursues justice and kindness will find life and honor.	21 Quien va tras la justicia y el amor hallará vida, justicia y honor.
22 The wise man storms a city of the mighty, and overthrows the stronghold in which it trusts.	22 El sabio escala la ciudad de los fuertes, y derriba la fortaleza en que confiaban.
23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from trouble.	23 El que guarda su boca y su lengua, guarda su alma de la angustia.
24 Arrogant is the name for the man of overbearing pride who acts with scornful effrontery.	24 Al insolente y altivo se le llama: «arrogante»; actúa en el exceso de su insolencia.
25 The sluggard's propensity slays him, for his hands refuse to work.	25 El deseo del perezoso le lleva a la muerte, porque sus manos rehúsan el trabajo.
26 Some are consumed with avarice all the day, but the just man gives unsparingly.	26 Todo el día está el malo codicioso; pero el justo da sin rehusar jamás.
27 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination, the more so when they offer it with a bad intention.	27 El sacrificio de los malos es abominable, sobre todo si se ofrece con mala intención.
28 The false witness will perish, but he who listens will finally have his say.	28 El testigo falso perecerá, el hombre que escucha, por siempre podrá hablar.
29 The wicked man is brazenfaced, but the upright man pays heed to his ways.	29 El hombre malo se muestra atrevido, el recto afianza su camino.
30 There is no wisdom, no understanding, no counsel, against the LORD.	30 No hay sabiduría, ni hay prudencia ni hay consejo, delante de Yahveh.
31 The horse is equipped for the day of battle, but victory is the LORD'S.	31 Se prepara el caballo para el día del combate, pero la victoria es de Yahveh.
