For the leader. Do not destroy! A psalm of Asaph; a song.1 Unto the end, corrupt not, a psalm of a canticle for Asaph.
We thank you, God, we give thanks; we call upon your name, declare your wonderful deeds. You said:2 We will praise thee, O God: we will praise, and we will call upon thy name. We will relate thy wondrous works:
"I will choose the time; I will judge fairly.3 when I shall take a time, I will judge justices.
The earth and all its inhabitants will quake, but I have firmly set its pillars." Selah4 The earth is melted, and all that dwell therein: I have established the pillars thereof.
So I say to the boastful: "Do not boast!" to the wicked: "Do not raise your horns!5 I said to the wicked: Do not act wickedly: and to the sinners: Lift not up the horn.
Do not raise your horns against heaven! Do not speak arrogantly against the Rock!"6 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not iniquity against God.
For judgment comes not from east or from west, not from the desert or from the mountains,7 For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the desert hills:
But from God who decides, who brings some low and raises others high.8 for God is the judge. One he putteth down, and another he lifteth up:
Yes, a cup is in the LORD'S hand, foaming wine, fully spiced. When God pours it out, they will drain it even to the dregs; all the wicked of the earth must drink.9 for in the hand of the Lord there is a cup of strong wine full of mixture. And he hath poured it out from this to that: but the dregs thereof are not emptied: all the sinners of the earth shall drink.
But I will rejoice forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,10 But I will declare for ever: I will sing to the God of Jacob.
Who has said: "I will break off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the just shall be lifted up."11 And I will break all the horns of sinners: but the horns of the just shall be exalted.
