Psalms 18

1 For the leader. Of David, the servant of the LORD, who sang to the LORD the words of this song after the LORD had rescued him from the clutches of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.	1 Del maestro de coro. Del siervo de Yahveh, David, que dirigió a Yahveh las palabras de este cántico el día en que Yahveh le libró de todos sus enemigos y de las manos de Saúl.
2 He said: I love you, LORD, my strength,	2 Dijo: Yo te amo, Yahveh, mi fortaleza, (mi salvador, que de la violencia me has salvado).
3 LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, my saving horn, my stronghold!	3 Yahveh, mi roca y mi baluarte, mi liberador, mi Dios; la peña en que me amparo, mi escudo y fuerza de mi salvación, mi ciudadela y mi refugio.
4 Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! I have been delivered from my enemies.	4 Invoco a Yahveh, que es digno de alabanza, y quedo a salvo de mis enemigos.
5 The breakers of death surged round about me; the menacing floods terrified me.	5 Las olas de la muerte me envolvían, me espantaban las trombas de Belial,
6 The cords of Sheol tightened; the snares of death lay in wait for me.	6 los lazos del seol me rodeaban, me aguardaban los cepos de la Muerte.
7 In my distress I called out: LORD! I cried out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears.	7 Clamé a Yahveh en mi angustia, a mi Dios invoqué; y escuchó mi voz desde su Templo, resonó mi llamada en sus oídos.
8 The earth rocked and shook; the foundations of the mountains trembled; they shook as his wrath flared up.	8 La tierra fue sacudida y vaciló, retemblaron las bases de los montes, (vacilaron bajo su furor);
9 Smoke rose in his nostrils, a devouring fire poured from his mouth; it kindled coals into flame.	9 una humareda subió de sus narices, y de su boca un fuego que abrasaba, (de él salían carbones encendidos).
10 He parted the heavens and came down, a dark cloud under his feet.	10 El inclinó los cielos y bajó, un espeso nublado debajo de sus pies;
11 Mounted on a cherub he flew, borne along on the wings of the wind.	11 cabalgó sobre un querube, emprendió el vuelo, sobre las alas de los vientos planeó.
12 He made darkness the cover about him; his canopy, heavy thunderheads.	12 Se puso como tienda un cerco de tinieblas, tinieblas de las aguas, espesos nubarrones;
13 Before him scudded his clouds, hail and lightning too.	13 del fulgor que le precedía se encendieron granizo y ascuas de fuego.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High made his voice resound.	14 Tronó Yahveh en los cielos, lanzó el Altísimo su voz;
15 He let fly his arrows and scattered them; shot his lightning bolts and dispersed them.	15 arrojó saetas, y los puso en fuga, rayos fulminó y sembró derrota.
16 Then the bed of the sea appeared; the world's foundations lay bare, At the roar of the LORD, at the storming breath of his nostrils.	16 El fondo del mar quedó a la vista, los cimientos del orbe aparecieron, ante tu imprecación, Yahveh, al resollar el aliento en tus narices.
17 He reached down from on high and seized me; drew me out of the deep waters.	17 El extiende su mano de lo alto para asirme, para sacarme de las profundas aguas;
18 He rescued me from my mighty enemy, from foes too powerful for me.	18 me libera de un enemigo poderoso, de mis adversarios más fuertes que yo.
19 They attacked me on a day of distress, but the LORD came to my support.	19 Me aguardaban el día de mi ruina, más Yahveh fue un apoyo para mí;
20 He set me free in the open; he rescued me because he loves me.	20 me sacó a espacio abierto, me salvó porque me amaba.
21 The LORD acknowledged my righteousness, rewarded my clean hands.	21 Yahveh me recompensa conforme a mi justicia, me paga conforme a la pureza de mis manos;
22 For I kept the ways of the LORD; I was not disloyal to my God.	22 porque he guardado los caminos de Yahveh, y no he hecho el mal lejos de mi Dios.
23 His laws were all before me, his decrees I did not cast aside.	23 Porque tengo ante mí todos sus juicios, y sus preceptos no aparto de mi lado;
24 I was honest toward him; I was on guard against sin.	24 he sido ante él irreprochable, y de incurrir en culpa me he guardado.
25 So the LORD rewarded my righteousness, the cleanness of my hands in his sight.	25 Y Yahveh me devuelve según mi justicia, según la pureza de mis manos que tiene ante sus ojos.
26 Toward the faithful you are faithful; to the honest you are honest;	26 Con el piadoso eres piadoso, intachable con el hombre sin tacha;
27 Toward the sincere, sincere; but to the perverse you are devious.	27 con el puro eres puro, con el ladino, sagaz;
28 Humble people you save; haughty eyes you bring low.	28 tú que salvas al pueblo humilde, y abates los ojos altaneros.
29 You, LORD, give light to my lamp; my God brightens the darkness about me.	29 Tú eres, Yahveh, mi lámpara, mi Dios que alumbra mis tinieblas;
30 With you I can rush an armed band, with my God to help I can leap a wall.	30 con tu ayuda las hordas acometo, con mi Dios escalo la muralla.
31 God's way is unerring; the LORD'S promise is tried and true; he is a shield for all who trust in him.	31 Dios es perfecto en sus caminos, la palabra de Yahveh acrisolada. El es el escudo de cuantos a él se acogen.
32 Truly, who is God except the LORD? Who but our God is the rock?	32 Pues ¿quién es Dios fuera de Yahveh? ¿Quién Roca, sino sólo nuestro Dios?
33 This God who girded me with might, kept my way unerring,	33 El Dios que me ciñe de fuerza, y hace mi camino irreprochable,
34 Who made my feet swift as a deer's, set me safe on the heights,	34 que hace mis pies como de ciervas, y en las alturas me sostiene en pie,
35 Who trained my hands for war, my arms to bend even a bow of bronze.	35 el que mis manos para el combate adiestra y mis brazos para tensar arco de bronce.
36 You have given me your protecting shield; your right hand has upheld me; you stooped to make me great.	36 Tú me das tu escudo salvador, (tu diestra me sostiene), tu cuidado me exalta,
37 You gave me room to stride; my feet never stumbled.	37 mis pasos ensanchas ante mí, no se tuercen mis tobillos.
38 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; I did not turn back till I destroyed them.	38 Persigo a mis enemigos, les doy caza, no vuelvo hasta haberlos acabado;
39 I struck them down; they could not rise; they fell dead at my feet.	39 los quebranto, no pueden levantarse, sucumben debajo de mis pies.
40 You girded me with strength for war, subdued adversaries at my feet.	40 Para el combate de fuerza me ciñes, doblegas bajo mí a mis agresores,
41 My foes you put to flight before me; those who hated me I destroyed.	41 a mis enemigos haces dar la espalda, extermino a los que me odian.
42 They cried for help, but no one saved them; cried to the LORD but got no answer.	42 Claman, mas no hay salvador, a Yahveh, y no les responde.
43 I ground them fine as dust in the wind; like mud in the streets I trampled them down.	43 Los machaco como polvo al viento, como al barro de las calles los piso.
44 You rescued me from the strife of peoples; you made me head over nations. A people I had not known became my slaves;	44 De las querellas de mi pueblo tú me libras, me pones a la cabeza de las gentes; pueblos que no conocía me sirven;
45 as soon as they heard of me they obeyed. Foreigners cringed before me;	45 los hijos de extranjeros me adulan, son todo oídos, me obedecen,
46 their courage failed; they came trembling from their fortresses.	46 los hijos de extranjeros desmayan, y dejan temblando sus refugios.
47 The LORD lives! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be God, my savior!	47 ¡Viva Yahveh, bendita sea mi roca, el Dios de mi salvación sea ensalzado,
48 O God who granted me vindication, made peoples subject to me,	48 el Dios que la venganza me concede y abate los pueblos a mis plantas!
49 and preserved me from my enemies, Truly you have exalted me above my adversaries, from the violent you have rescued me.	49 Tú me libras de mis enemigos, me exaltas sobre mis agresores, del hombre violento me salvas.
50 Thus I will proclaim you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.	50 Por eso he de alabarte entre los pueblos, a tu nombre, Yahveh, salmodiaré.
51 You have given great victories to your king, and shown kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever.	51 El hace grandes las victorias de su rey y muestra su amor a su ungido, a David y a su linaje para siempre.
