Psalms 107

1 "Give thanks to the LORD who is good, whose love endures forever!"	1 Aleluia. Louvai o Senhor, porque ele é bom. Porque eterna é a sua misericórdia.
2 Let that be the prayer of the LORD'S redeemed, those redeemed from the hand of the foe,	2 Assim o dizem aqueles que o Senhor resgatou, aqueles que ele livrou das mãos do opressor,
3 Those gathered from foreign lands, from east and west, from north and south.	3 assim como os que congregou de todos os países, do oriente e do ocidente, do norte e do sul.
4 Some had lost their way in a barren desert; found no path toward a city to live in.	4 Erravam na solidão do deserto, sem encontrar caminho de cidade habitável.
5 They were hungry and thirsty; their life was ebbing away.	5 Consumidos de fome e de sede, sentiam desfalecer-lhes a vida.
6 In their distress they cried to the LORD, who rescued them in their peril,	6 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor, ele os livrou de suas tribulações
7 Guided them by a direct path so they reached a city to live in.	7 e os conduziu pelo bom caminho, para chegarem a uma cidade habitável.
8 Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.	8 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens,
9 For he satisfied the thirsty, filled the hungry with good things.	9 porque dessedentou a garganta sequiosa, e cumulou de bens a que tinha fome.
10 Some lived in darkness and gloom, in prison, bound with chains,	10 Outros estavam nas trevas e na sombra da morte, prisioneiros na miséria e em ferros,
11 Because they rebelled against God's word, scorned the counsel of the Most High,	11 por se haverem revoltado contra as ordens de Deus e terem desprezado os desígnios do Altíssimo.
12 Who humbled their hearts through hardship; they stumbled with no one to help.	12 Pelo sofrimento lhes humilhara o coração, sucumbiam sem que ninguém os socorresse.
13 In their distress they cried to the LORD, who saved them in their peril,	13 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor, e ele os livrou de suas tribulações.
14 Led them forth from darkness and gloom and broke their chains asunder.	14 Tirou-os das trevas e da sombra da morte, quebrou-lhes os grilhões.
15 Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.	15 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
16 For he broke down the gates of bronze and snapped the bars of iron.	16 Ele arrombou as portas de bronze, e despedaçou os ferrolhos de ferro.
17 Some fell sick from their wicked ways, afflicted because of their sins.	17 Outros, enfermos por causa de seu mau proceder, eram feridos por causa de seus pecados.
18 They loathed all manner of food; they were at the gates of death.	18 Todo alimento lhes causava náuseas, chegaram às portas da morte.
19 In their distress they cried to the LORD, who saved them in their peril,	19 Em sua angústia clamaram então para o Senhor; ele os livrou de suas tribulações.
20 Sent forth the word to heal them, snatched them from the grave.	20 Enviou a sua palavra para os curar, para os arrancar da morte.
21 Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.	21 Agradeçam ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
22 Let them offer a sacrifice in thanks, declare his works with shouts of joy.	22 Ofereçam sacrifícios de ação de graças, e proclamem alegremente as suas obras.
23 Some went off to sea in ships, plied their trade on the deep waters.	23 Os que se fizeram ao mar, para trafegar nas muitas águas,
24 They saw the works of the LORD, the wonders of God in the deep.	24 foram testemunhas das obras do Senhor e de suas maravilhas no alto-mar.
25 He spoke and roused a storm wind; it tossed the waves on high.	25 Sua palavra levantou tremendo vento, que impeliu para o alto as suas ondas.
26 They rose up to the heavens, sank to the depths; their hearts trembled at the danger.	26 Subiam até os céus, desciam aos abismos, suas almas definhavam em angústias.
27 They reeled, staggered like drunkards; their skill was of no avail.	27 Titubeavam e cambaleavam como ébrios, e toda a sua perícia se esvaiu.
28 In their distress they cried to the LORD, who brought them out of their peril,	28 Em sua agonia clamaram então ao Senhor, e ele os livrou da tribulação.
29 Hushed the storm to a murmur; the waves of the sea were stilled.	29 Transformou a procela em leve brisa, e as ondas do mar silenciaram.
30 They rejoiced that the sea grew calm, that God brought them to the harbor they longed for.	30 E se alegraram porque elas amainaram, e os conduziu ao desejado porto.
31 Let them thank the LORD for such kindness, such wondrous deeds for mere mortals.	31 Agradeçam eles ao Senhor por sua bondade, e por suas grandes obras em favor dos homens.
32 Let them praise him in the assembly of the people, give thanks in the council of the elders.	32 Celebrem-no na assembléia do povo, e o louvem no conselho dos anciãos.
33 God changed rivers into desert, springs of water into thirsty ground,	33 Transformou rios em deserto, e fontes de água em terra árida.
34 Fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the wickedness of its people.	34 Converteu o solo fértil em salinas, por causa da malícia de seus habitantes.
35 He changed the desert into pools of water, arid land into springs of water,	35 Mudou o deserto em lençol de água, e a terra árida em abundantes fontes.
36 And settled the hungry there; they built a city to live in.	36 Aí fez habitar os esfaimados, que fundaram uma cidade para morar.
37 They sowed fields and planted vineyards, brought in an abundant harvest.	37 E semearam os campos e plantaram vinhas, colhendo deles abundantes frutos.
38 God blessed them, they became very many, and their livestock did not decrease.	38 E os abençoou: eles se multiplicaram grandemente, e lhes concedeu rebanhos numerosos.
39 Where they were diminished and brought low through misery and cruel oppression,	39 Depois seu número se reduziu e caíram na miséria, sob a opressão, a desgraça e o sofrimento.
40 But he poured out contempt on princes, made them wander the trackless wastes,	40 Mas aquele que lança seu desprezo sobre os grandes, e os faz errar por ínvios desertos,
41 While the poor were released from their affliction; their families increased like their flocks.	41 {Deus,} soergueu o pobre da miséria, multiplicando famílias como rebanhos.
42 The upright saw this and rejoiced; all wickedness shut its mouth.	42 À vista disso os justos se alegram, e toda a maldade deve fechar a boca.
43 Whoever is wise will take note of these things, will ponder the merciful deeds of the LORD.	43 Quem é sábio para julgar estas coisas e compreender as misericórdias do Senhor?
