NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
"The Dwelling itself you shall make out of sheets woven of fine linen twined and of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, with cherubim embroidered on them.1 Habitaculum vero ita facies: decem cortinas de bysso re torta et hyacintho ac purpura coccoque cum cherubim opere polymito facies.
The length of each shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the width four cubits; all the sheets shall be of the same size.2 Longitudo cortinae unius habebit viginti octo cubitos, latitudo quattuor cubitorum erit. Unius mensurae fient universae cortinae.
Five of the sheets are to be sewed together, edge to edge; and the same for the other five.3 Quinque cortinae sibi iungentur mutuo, et aliae quinque nexu simili cohaerebunt.
Make loops of violet yarn along the edge of the end sheet in one set, and the same along the edge of the end sheet in the other set.4 Ansulas hyacinthinas in latere facies cortinae unius in extremitate iuncturae et similiter facies in latere cortinae extremae in iunctura altera.
There are to be fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in the first set, and fifty loops along the edge of the corresponding sheet in the second set, and so placed that the loops are directly opposite each other.5 Quinquaginta ansulas facies in cortina una et quinquaginta ansulas facies in summitate cortinae, quae est in iunctura altera, ita insertas, ut ansa contra ansam veniat.
Then make fifty clasps of gold, with which to join the two sets of sheets, so that the Dwelling forms one whole.6 Facies et quinquaginta fibulas aureas, quibus cortinarum vela iungenda sunt, ut unum habitaculum fiat.
"Also make sheets woven of goat hair, to be used as a tent covering over the Dwelling.7 Facies et saga cilicina undecim pro tabernaculo super habitaculum.
Eleven such sheets are to be made; the length of each shall be thirty cubits, and the width four cubits: all eleven sheets shall be of the same size.8 Longitudo sagi unius habebit triginta cubitos et latitudo quattuor; aequa erit mensura sagorum omnium.
Sew five of the sheets, edge to edge, into one set, and the other six sheets into another set. Use the sixth sheet double at the front of the tent.9 E quibus quinque iunges seorsum et sex sibi mutuo copulabis, ita ut sextum sagum in fronte tecti duplices.
Make fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in one set, and fifty loops along the edge of the end sheet in the second set.10 Facies et quinquaginta ansas in ora sagi ultimi iuncturae unius et quinquaginta ansas in ora sagi iuncturae alterius.
Also make fifty bronze clasps and put them into the loops, to join the tent into one whole.11 Facies et quinquaginta fibulas aeneas, quibus iungantur ansae, ut unum ex omnibus tabernaculum fiat.
There will be an extra half sheet of tent covering, which shall be allowed to hang down over the rear of the Dwelling.12 Quod autem superfuerit in sagis, quae parantur tecto, id est unum sagum, quod amplius est, ex medietate eius operies posteriora habitaculi;
Likewise, the sheets of the tent will have an extra cubit's length to be left hanging down on either side of the Dwelling to protect it.13 et cubitus ex una parte pendebit, et alter ex altera, qui plus est in longitudine sagorum tabernaculi utrumque latus habitaculi protegens.
Over the tent itself you shall make a covering of rams' skins dyed red, and above that, a covering of tahash skins.14 Facies et operimentum aliud pro tabernaculo de pellibus arietum rubricatis et super hoc rursum aliud operimentum de pellibus delphini.
"You shall make boards of acacia wood as walls for the Dwelling.15 Facies et tabulas stantes habitaculi de lignis acaciae,
The length of each board is to be ten cubits, and its width one and a half cubits.16 quae singulae denos cubitos in longitudine habeant et in latitudine singulos ac semissem.
Each board shall have two arms that shall serve to fasten the boards in line. In this way all the boards of the Dwelling are to be made.17 In tabula una duo pedes fient, quibus tabula alteri tabulae conectatur; atque in hunc modum cunctae tabulae habitaculi parabuntur.
Set up the boards of the Dwelling as follows: twenty boards on the south side,18 Quarum viginti erunt in latere meridiano, quod vergit ad austrum;
with forty silver pedestals under the twenty boards, so that there are two pedestals under each board, at its two arms;19 quibus quadraginta bases argenteas fundes, ut binae bases singulis pedibus singularum tabularum subiciantur.
twenty boards on the other side of the Dwelling, the north side,20 In latere quoque secundo habitaculi, quod vergit ad aquilonem, viginti tabulae erunt,
with their forty silver pedestals, two under each board;21 quadraginta habentes bases argenteas; binae bases singulis tabulis supponentur.
six boards for the rear of the Dwelling, to the west;22 Ad occidentalem vero plagam in tergo habitaculi facies sex tabulas;
and two boards for the corners at the rear of the Dwelling.23 et rursum alias duas, quae in angulis erigantur, post tergum habitaculi.
These two shall be double at the bottom, and likewise double at the top, to the first ring. That is how both boards in the corners are to be made.24 Eruntque geminae a deorsum usque sursum in compaginem unam; ita erit duabus istis, pro duabus angulis erunt.
Thus, there shall be in the rear eight boards, with their sixteen silver pedestals, two pedestals under each board.25 Et erunt simul tabulae octo, bases earum argenteae sedecim, duabus basibus per unam tabulam supputatis.
Also make bars of acacia wood: five for the boards on one side of the Dwelling,26 Facies et vectes de lignis acaciae, quinque ad continendas tabulas in uno latere habitaculi
five for those on the other side, and five for those at the rear, toward the west.27 et quinque alios in altero et eiusdem numeri in tergo ad occidentalem plagam;
The center bar, at the middle of the boards, shall reach across from end to end.28 vectis autem medius transibit per medias tabulas a summo usque ad summum.
Plate the boards with gold, and make gold rings on them as holders for the bars, which are also to be plated with gold.29 Ipsasque tabulas deaurabis et fundes eis anulos aureos, per quos vectes tabulata contineant, quos operies laminis aureis.
You shall erect the Dwelling according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.30 Et eriges habitaculum iuxta exemplar, quod tibi in monte monstratum est.
"You shall have a veil woven of violet, purple and scarlet yarn, and of fine linen twined, with cherubim embroidered on it.31 Facies et velum de hyacintho et purpura coccoque et bysso retorta, opere polymito, cum cherubim intextis.
It is to be hung on four gold-plated columns of acacia wood, which shall have hooks of gold and shall rest on four silver pedestals.32 Quod appendes in quattuor columnis de lignis acaciae, quae ipsae quidem deauratae erunt et habebunt uncos aureos, sed bases argenteas.
Hang the veil from clasps. The ark of the commandments you shall bring inside, behind this veil which divides the holy place from the holy of holies.33 Inseres autem velum subter fibulas, intra quod pones arcam testimonii et quo sanctum et sanctum sanctorum dividentur.
Set the propitiatory on the ark of the commandments in the holy of holies.34 Pones et propitiatorium super arcam testimonii in sancto sanctorum
"Outside the veil you shall place the table and the lampstand, the latter on the south side of the Dwelling, opposite the table, which is to be put on the north side.35 mensamque extra velum et contra mensam candelabrum in latere habitaculi meridiano; mensa enim stabit in parte aquilonis.
For the entrance of the tent make a variegated curtain of violet, purple and scarlet yarn and of fine linen twined.36 Facies et velum in introitu tabernaculi de hyacintho et purpura coccoque et bysso retorta opere plumarii.
Make five columns of acacia wood for this curtain; have them plated with gold, with their hooks of gold; and cast five bronze pedestals for them.37 Et quinque columnas deaurabis lignorum acaciae, ante quas ducetur velum, quarum erunt unci aurei et bases aeneae.
