John 12

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.	1 Six jours avant la Pâque, Jésus vint à Béthanie, où était Lazare, que Jésus avait ressuscité d'entre lesmorts.
2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.	2 On lui fit là un repas. Marthe servait. Lazare était l'un des convives.
3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.	3 Alors Marie, prenant une livre d'un parfum de nard pur, de grand prix, oignit les pieds de Jésus et lesessuya avec ses cheveux; et la maison s'emplit de la senteur du parfum.
4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,	4 Mais Judas l'Iscariote, l'un de ses disciples, celui qui allait le livrer, dit:
5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?	5 "Pourquoi ce parfum n'a-t-il pas été vendu 300 deniers qu'on aurait donnés à des pauvres?"
6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.	6 Mais il dit cela non par souci des pauvres, mais parce qu'il était voleur et que, tenant la bourse, ildérobait ce qu'on y mettait.
7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.	7 Jésus dit alors: "Laisse-la: c'est pour le jour de ma sépulture qu'elle devait garder ce parfum.
8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.	8 Les pauvres, en effet, vous les aurez toujours avec vous; mais moi, vous ne m'aurez pas toujours."
9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.	9 La grande foule des Juifs apprit qu'il était là et ils vinrent, pas seulement pour Jésus, mais aussi pourvoir Lazare, qu'il avait ressuscité d'entre les morts.
10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;	10 Les grands prêtres décidèrent de tuer aussi Lazare,
11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.	11 parce que beaucoup de Juifs, à cause de lui, s'en allaient et croyaient en Jésus.
12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,	12 Le lendemain, la foule nombreuse venue pour la fête apprit que Jésus venait à Jérusalem;
13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.	13 ils prirent les rameaux des palmiers et sortirent à sa rencontre et ils criaient: "Hosanna! Béni soitcelui qui vient au nom du Seigneur et le roi d'Israël!"
14 And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,	14 Jésus, trouvant un petit âne, s'assit dessus selon qu'il est écrit:
15 Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.	15 Sois sans crainte, fille de Sion: voici que ton roi vient, monté sur un petit d'ânesse.
16 These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.	16 Cela, ses disciples ne le comprirent pas tout d'abord; mais quand Jésus eut été glorifié, alors ils sesouvinrent que cela était écrit de lui et que c'était ce qu'on lui avait fait.
17 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.	17 La foule qui était avec lui, quand il avait appelé Lazare hors du tombeau et l'avait ressuscité d'entreles morts, rendait témoignage.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.	18 C'est aussi pourquoi la foule vint à sa rencontre: parce qu'ils avaient entendu dire qu'il avait fait cesigne.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.	19 Alors les Pharisiens se dirent entre eux: "Vous voyez que vous ne gagnez rien; voilà le monde partiaprès lui!"
20 And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:	20 Il y avait là quelques Grecs, de ceux qui montaient pour adorer pendant la fête.
21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.	21 Ils s'avancèrent vers Philippe, qui était de Bethsaïde en Galilée, et ils lui firent cette demande:"Seigneur, nous voulons voir Jésus."
22 Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.	22 Philippe vient le dire à André; André et Philippe viennent le dire à Jésus.
23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.	23 Jésus leur répond: "Voici venue l'heure où doit être glorifié le Fils de l'homme.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.	24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, si le grain de blé tombé en terre ne meurt pas, il demeure seul;mais s'il meurt, il porte beaucoup de fruit.
25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.	25 Qui aime sa vie la perd; et qui hait sa vie en ce monde la conservera en vie éternelle.
26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.	26 Si quelqu'un me sert, qu'il me suive, et où je suis, là aussi sera mon serviteur. Si quelqu'un me sert,mon Père l'honorera.
27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.	27 Maintenant mon âme est troublée. Et que dire? Père, sauve-moi de cette heure! Mais c'est pour celaque je suis venu à cette heure.
28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.	28 Père, glorifie ton nom!" Du ciel vint alors une voix: "Je l'ai glorifié et de nouveau je le glorifierai."
29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.	29 La foule qui se tenait là et qui avait entendu, disait qu'il y avait eu un coup de tonnerre; d'autresdisaient: "Un ange lui a parlé."
30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.	30 Jésus reprit: "Ce n'est pas pour moi qu'il y a eu cette voix, mais pour vous.
31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.	31 C'est maintenant le jugement de ce monde; maintenant le Prince de ce monde va être jeté dehors;
32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.	32 et moi, une fois élevé de terre, j'attirerai tous les hommes à moi."
33 This he said, signifying what death he should die.	33 Il signifiait par là de quelle mort il allait mourir.
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?	34 La foule alors lui répondit: "Nous avons appris de la Loi que le Christ demeure à jamais. Commentpeux-tu dire: Il faut que soit élevé le Fils de l'homme? Qui est ce Fils de l'homme?"
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.	35 Jésus leur dit: "Pour peu de temps encore la lumière est parmi vous. Marchez tant que vous avez lalumière, de peur que les ténèbres ne vous saisissent: celui qui marche dans les ténèbres ne sait pas où il va.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.	36 Tant que vous avez la lumière, croyez en la lumière, afin de devenir des fils de lumière." Ainsi parlaJésus, et s'en allant il se déroba à leur vue.
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:	37 Bien qu'il eût fait tant de signes devant eux, ils ne croyaient pas en lui,
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?	38 afin que s'accomplît la parole dite par Isaïe le prophète: Seigneur, qui a cru à notre parole? Et le brasdu Seigneur, à qui a-t-il été révélé?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,	39 Aussi bien ne pouvaient-ils croire, car Isaïe a dit encore:
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.	40 Il a aveuglé leurs yeux et il a endurci leur coeur, pour que leurs yeux ne voient pas, que leur coeur necomprenne pas, qu'ils ne se convertissent pas et que je ne les guérisse pas.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.	41 Isaïe a dit cela, parce qu'il eut la vision de sa gloire et qu'il parla de lui.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:	42 Toutefois, il est vrai, même parmi les notables, un bon nombre crurent en lui, mais à cause desPharisiens ils ne se déclaraient pas, de peur d'être exclus de la synagogue,
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.	43 car ils aimèrent la gloire des hommes plus que la gloire de Dieu.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.	44 Jésus a dit, il l'a clamé: "Qui croit en moi, ce n'est pas en moi qu'il croit, mais en celui qui m'aenvoyé,
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.	45 et qui me voit voit celui qui m'a envoyé.
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.	46 Moi, lumière, je suis venu dans le monde, pour que quiconque croit en moi ne demeure pas dans lesténèbres.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.	47 Si quelqu'un entend mes paroles et ne les garde pas, je ne le juge pas, car je ne suis pas venu pourjuger le monde, mais pour sauver le monde.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.	48 Qui me rejette et n'accueille pas mes paroles a son juge: la parole que j'ai fait entendre, c'est elle quile jugera au dernier jour;
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.	49 car ce n'est pas de moi-même que j'ai parlé, mais le Père qui m'a envoyé m'a lui-même commandé ceque j'avais à dire et à faire connaître;
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.	50 et je sais que son commandement est vie éternelle. Ainsi donc ce que je dis, tel que le Père me l'a ditje le dis."
