1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;	1 Nell'anno in cui entrò in Azoto il Tartan, il quale, mandato da Sargon, re d'Assiria, assalì Azoto e la prese,
2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.	2 in quella circostanza il Signore parlò per mezzo d'Isaia figlio d'Amos, dicendo: « Va, spogliati del sacco dei tuoi fianchi, togliti i calzari dai piedi ». Ed egli cosi fece, e andò nudo e scalzo.
3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;	3 E il Signore disse: « Come il mio servo Isaia è andato nudo e scalzo, qual segno per tre anni, qual presagio contro l'Egitto e contro l'Etiopia,
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.	4 così il re d'Assiria menerà via i prigionieri d'Egitto e i deportati d'Etiopia, giovani e vecchi, nudi e scalzi colle natiche scoperte, a vergogna dell'Egitto.
5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.	5 E, saranno nella costernazione e nella confusione, per (aver riposta) la loro speranza nell'Etiopia, la loro gloria nell'Egitto.
6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?	6 E gli abitanti di quest'isola diranno in quel giorno: « Ecco eran questi la nostra speranza, quelli ai quali ricorremmo per aiuto, perchè ci liberassero dal re dell'Assiria! E come potremo scampare noi? »
