1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;	1 Cette année-là, Sargon roi d’Assyrie envoya son général en chef à Ashdod pour l’attaquer, et il s’en empara.
2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.	2 Alors Yahvé parla ainsi par la bouche d’Isaïe fils d’Amos: “Va, lui dit-il, laisse pendre un sac de ta ceinture, et enlève les sandales de tes pieds.” Il fit ainsi et il allait nu, déchaussé.
3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;	3 Yahvé dit alors: “Mon serviteur Isaïe a marché nu et déchaussé pendant trois ans: c’était un signe et un avertissement pour l’Égypte et pour Kouch.
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.	4 De même le roi d’Assyrie emmènera les prisonniers d’Égypte et les captifs de Kouch, les jeunes comme les vieux, nus, déchaussés et les fesses à l’air, à la honte de l’Égypte.
5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.	5 Les gens seront effrayés, désemparés, car Kouch était leur espérance, et l’Égypte leur fierté.
6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?	6 En ce jour-là les habitants de la côte diront: ‘Regardez ce qu’est devenu le pays sur lequel nous comptions! Nous allions chercher là-bas une protection pour nous défaire du roi d’Assyrie; mais maintenant, comment échapperons-nous?’ ”
