1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;	1 L'anno in cui il generalissimo venne ad Asdod inviato da Sargon, re di Assiria, egli attaccò Asdod e la prese.
2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.	2 In quel tempo il Signore parlò per mezzo di Isaia, figlio di Amoz: "Va' e sciogli il sacco dai tuoi fianchi e levati i calzari dai piedi". Egli fece così andando nudo e scalzo.
3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;	3 Il Signore poi disse: "Come il mio servo Isaia se ne va nudo e scalzo per tre anni quale segno e presagio per l'Egitto e per l'Etiopia,
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.	4 così il re di Assiria condurrà i prigionieri dell'Egitto e i deportati dell'Etiopia, giovani e vecchi, nudi e scalzi con le natiche scoperte, vergogna dell'Egitto!
5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.	5 Saranno spaventati e confusi a causa dell'Etiopia, oggetto della loro speranza, e a causa dell'Egitto, motivo della loro gloria.
6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?	6 In quel giorno gli abitanti di questa costa diranno: Ecco, così è successo a colui nel quale abbiamo messo la nostra fiducia, presso il quale ci siamo rifugiati per avere aiuto, per essere liberati di fronte al re di Assiria! Ed ora come ci salveremo noi?".
