1 In the year that Tartan came unto Ashdod, (when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him,) and fought against Ashdod, and took it;	1 - Nell'anno che il Tartan venne contro Azoto, mandato da Sargon, re degli Assiri, e diede l'assalto alla città e la prese,
2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.	2 in quel tempo il Signore parlò per mezzo d'Isaia, figlio di Amos, dicendo: «Va', svestiti del sacco che hai sui fianchi, e cavati le calzature dai piedi». Ed egli così fece, andando scamiciato e scalzo.
3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;	3 E il Signore disse: «Come il mio servo Isaia è andato nudo e scalzo per tre anni, segno fatidico e prodigioso sopra l'Egitto e l'Etiopia,
4 So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.	4 così, una turba di schiavi di Egitto, e di esuli d'Etiopia, di giovani e di vecchi, condurrà il re degli Assiri, nuda e scalza colle natiche scoperte, in onta all'Egitto.
5 And they shall be afraid and ashamed of Ethiopia their expectation, and of Egypt their glory.	5 E resteranno sbigottiti e confusi quelli che avranno posto la loro speranza nell'Etiopia e la loro gloria nell'Egitto.
6 And the inhabitant of this isle shall say in that day, Behold, such is our expectation, whither we flee for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria: and how shall we escape?	6 E gli abitanti di questi lidi diranno in quel giorno: - Questa che era la nostra speranza, alla quale avevamo ricorso per aiuto, affinchè ci liberasse dalla presenza del re degli Assiri, eccola, e come potremmo scampare noi? -».
