KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.1 For the director. According to Yonath elem rehoqim. A miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him at Gath.
Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.2 Have mercy on me, God, for I am treated harshly; attackers press me all the day.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.3 My foes treat me harshly all the day; yes, many are my attackers. O Most High,
In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.4 when I am afraid, in you I place my trust.
Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.5 God, I praise your promise; in you I trust, I do not fear. What can mere flesh do to me?
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.6 All the day they foil my plans; their every thought is of evil against me.
Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.7 They hide together in ambush; they watch my every step; they lie in wait for my life.
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?8 They are evil; watch them, God! Cast the nations down in your anger!
When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.9 My wanderings you have noted; are my tears not stored in your vial, recorded in your book?
In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.10 My foes turn back when I call on you. This I know: God is on my side.
In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.11 God, I praise your promise;
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.12 in you I trust, I do not fear. What can mere mortals do to me?
For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?13 I have made vows to you, God; with offerings I will fulfill them,
Once you have snatched me from death, kept my feet from stumbling, That I may walk before God in the light of the living.
