KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.1 Of David. I wait for you, O LORD; I lift up my soul
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.2 to my God. In you I trust; do not let me be disgraced; do not let my enemies gloat over me.
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.3 No one is disgraced who waits for you, but only those who lightly break faith.
Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.4 Make known to me your ways, LORD; teach me your paths.
Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.5 Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior. For you I wait all the long day, because of your goodness, LORD.
Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.6 Remember your compassion and love, O LORD; for they are ages old.
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD.7 Remember no more the sins of my youth; remember me only in light of your love.
Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.8 Good and upright is the LORD, who shows sinners the way,
The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.9 Guides the humble rightly, and teaches the humble the way.
All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.10 All the paths of the LORD are faithful love toward those who honor the covenant demands.
For thy name's sake, O LORD, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.11 For the sake of your name, LORD, pardon my guilt, though it is great.
What man is he that feareth the LORD? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.12 Who are those who fear the LORD? God shows them the way to choose.
His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.13 They live well and prosper, and their descendants inherit the land.
The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.14 The counsel of the LORD belongs to the faithful; the covenant instructs them.
Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.15 My eyes are ever upon the LORD, who frees my feet from the snare.
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.16 Look upon me, have pity on me, for I am alone and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.17 Relieve the troubles of my heart; bring me out of my distress.
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.18 Put an end to my affliction and suffering; take away all my sins.
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.19 See how many are my enemies, see how fiercely they hate me.
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.20 Preserve my life and rescue me; do not let me be disgraced, for I trust in you.
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.21 Let honesty and virtue preserve me; I wait for you, O LORD.
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.22 Redeem Israel, God, from all its distress!
