1 Riprese a parlare Baldad Suhite, e disse:	1 But Baldad the Suhite responded by saying:
2 « Fino a quando getterete via le parole? Mettete giudizio e poi parleremo.	2 How long will you throw around words? Understand first, and then let us speak.
3 Perchè trattarci come giumenti e considerarci come immondezze?	3 Why have we been treated like mules, as if we were unworthy before you?
4 O tu, che rovini l'anima tua nel tuo furore, dovrà per causa tua esser abbandonata la terra e dal loro posto trasportate le rupi?	4 You, who ruins your own soul in your fury, will the earth be forsaken because of you, and will the cliffs be moved from their place?
5 Non è forse vero che la luce dell'empio deve spegnersi, che la fiamma del suo focolare non farà lume?	5 Will not the light of the impious be put out, and the flame of his fire refuse to shine?
6 Si oscurerà il lume nella sua tenda e la lucerna che sta sopra di lui sarà spenta.	6 Light will become darkness in his tabernacle, and the lamp that is over him will be extinguished.
7 I passi della sua potenza saranno raccorciati, i suoi disegni lo getteranno in un precipizio.	7 His strong steps will be constrained, and his own counsel will cast him down uncontrollably.
8 Va a mettere i suoi piedi in una rete e cammina sulle sue maglie;	8 For he has caused his own feet to go into a net, and he has walked into its web.
9 il suo piede sarà preso al laccio. Una sete ardente lo consumerà.	9 His heel will be held in a snare, and thirst will rage against him.
10 Il laccio gli sta steso per terra e la trappola sul sentiero.	10 A trap has been hidden for him in the earth, and a decoy, along his path.
11 Da ogni parte lo atterriranno gli spaventi, gli avvilupperanno i piedi.	11 Horrifying things will terrify him everywhere and will entangle his feet.
12 Venga meno dalla fame la sua forza e l'inedia gli stia alle costole.	12 Let his strength be diminished by famine, and let starvation invade his ribs.
13 Divori la bellezza della sua pelle, consumi le sue braccia la morte primogenita.	13 Let it devour the beauty of his skin; let the ancient death consume his arms.
14 Sia strappato dalla sua tenda, in cui era sicuro, e lo calpesti come un re la morte.	14 Let his confidence be torn away from his tabernacle, and let ruin trample over him like a king.
15 Scomparso lui, ne occupino la tenda i suoi compagni, e nella sua dimora sia sparso lo zolfo,	15 Let the companions of he who is not, dwell in his tabernacle; let brimstone rain down upon his tabernacle.
16 di sotto gli secchino le radici, di sopra gli sian tagliati i rami.	16 Let his roots be dried up from beneath him, and his harvest be crushed from above.
17 Sparisca dalla terra la sua memoria, il suo nome non sia rammentato sulle piazze.	17 Let the memory of him perish from the earth, and let not his name be celebrated in the streets.
18 Sia cacciato dalla luce nelle tenebre, portato via dal mondo,	18 He will expel him from light into darkness, and he will remove him from the world.
19 non avrà nè discendenza nè famiglia nel suo popolo, nè superstite nella sua patria.	19 Neither his offspring, nor his descendents, will exist among his people, nor will there be any remnants in his country.
20 Pel suo giorno stupiranno gli ultimi, e i primi saranno invasi dal terrore.	20 The last will be astonished at his day, and the first will be overcome with horror.
21 Così va a finire la casa dell'empio, tale è la sorte di chi ignora Dio ».	21 And so, these are the tabernacles of the sinful, and this the place of he who does not know God.
