Proverbi 31

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Parole di Lemuèl, re di Massa, insegnategli da sua madre.	1 The sayings of Lemuel king of Massa, taught him by his mother:
2 E che, figlio mio! E che, figlio del mio seno! E che, figlio dei miei voti!	2 What, my son! What, son of my womb! What, son of my vows!
3 Non concedere alle donne il tuo vigore, i tuoi fianchi a quelle che rovinano i sovrani!	3 Do not expend your energy on women nor your wealth on those who ruin kings.
4 Non conviene ai re, o Lemuèl, non conviene ai re bere vino, né ai prìncipi desiderar liquori,	4 Not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings the drinking of wine, not for princes the love of liquor,
5 ché bevendo scordi ciò che ha decretato e àlteri il diritto a tutti gli infelici!	5 for fear that in liquor they forget what they have decreed and pervert the course of justice against allthe poor.
6 Date bevande forti a chi sta per morire e vino a chi è nell'amarezza.	6 Procure strong drink for someone about to die, wine for him whose heart is heavy:
7 Beva per dimenticar la sua miseria, e non ricordarsi più della sua pena.	7 let him drink and forget his misfortune, and remember his misery no more.
8 Apri la bocca tua per chi è muto, per la causa di tutti i derelitti!	8 Make your views heard, on behalf of the dumb, on behalf of al the unwanted;
9 Apri la bocca tua, giudica con giustizia, rendi giustizia all'infelice e al povero!	9 make your views heard, pronounce an upright verdict, defend the cause of the poor and the wretched.
10 Una donna efficiente chi la trova? E' superiore alle perle il suo valore.	10 The truly capable woman -- who can find her? She is far beyond the price of pearls.

14 E' come le navi d'un mercante, che fa venir da lontano il suo pane.	14 She is like those merchant vessels, bringing her food from far away.
15 S'alza quando è ancora buio, per distribuire il vitto ai suoi domestici e dare ordini alle sue domestiche.	15 She gets up while it is stil dark giving her household their food, giving orders to her serving girls.
16 Mette l'occhio su un campo e l'acquista; col frutto delle sue mani pianta una vigna.	16 She sets her mind on a field, then she buys it; with what her hands have earned she plants avineyard.
17 Stringe forte i propri fianchi, irrobustisce le sue braccia.	17 She puts her back into her work and shows how strong her arms can be.
18 Sperimenta l'utilità del suo lavoro, non si spegne di notte la sua lampada.	18 She knows that her affairs are going wel ; her lamp does not go out at night.
19 Le sue mani ella mette alla conocchia, le sue dita si occupan del fuso.	19 She sets her hands to the distaff, her fingers grasp the spindle.
20 Tende le sue mani verso il povero e le sue dita stende all'infelice.	20 She holds out her hands to the poor, she opens her arms to the needy.
21 Non teme la neve per i familiari, perché i domestici hanno doppia veste.	21 Snow may come, she has no fears for her household, with al her servants warmly clothed.
22 S'è procurata bei tappeti, bisso e porpora sono le sue vesti.	22 She makes her own quilts, she is dressed in fine linen and purple.
23 E' stimato alla porta suo marito, quando siede con gli anziani del paese.	23 Her husband is respected at the city gates, taking his seat among the elders of the land.
24 Tesse drappi di lino e li rivende, una cintura vende al commerciante.	24 She weaves materials and sel s them, she supplies the merchant with sashes.
25 Forza e prestanza sono il suo vestito, guarda sicura al tempo avvenire.	25 She is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the day to come.
26 La sua bocca apre con saggezza, un insegnamento fedele è sopra la sua lingua.	26 When she opens her mouth, she does so wisely; on her tongue is kindly instruction.
27 Sorveglia il va e vieni della casa, non mangia il pane della sua pigrizia.	27 She keeps good watch on the conduct of her household, no bread of idleness for her.
28 Si levano i suoi figli, si felicitano con lei, suo marito tesse il suo elogio:	28 Her children stand up and proclaim her blessed, her husband, too, sings her praises:
29 Molte donne sono state efficienti, ma tu le sorpassi tutte quante.	29 'Many women have done admirable things, but you surpass them all!'
30 Falsa è la grazia, vana la bellezza! La donna saggia, quella va lodata!	30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty empty; the woman who fears Yahweh is the one to praise.
31 Datele il frutto delle proprie mani, la lodino alle porte le sue opere!	31 Give her a share in what her hands have worked for, and let her works tel her praises at the citygates.
