Secondo libro di Samuele 22

1 Davide rivolse al Signore le parole di questo canto, il giorno in cui il Signore lo liberò dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici e dalla mano di Saul.	1 And David spoke to the Lord the words of this verse, in the day that the Lord freed him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
2 Egli disse: "Il Signore è mia roccia e mia fortezza, mio rifugio per me è	2 And he said: “The Lord is my rock, and my strength, and my Savior.
3 il mio Dio; mia rupe in cui mi rifugio, mio scudo e mio corno di salvezza; mia rocca e mio rifugio, mio salvatore. Tu mi salvi dalla violenza.	3 I will hope in him. God is my strong one, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. He lifts me up, and he is my refreshment. You, O my Savior, will free me from iniquity.
4 Invocai il Signore, degno di lode, e fui salvato dai miei nemici.	4 I will call upon the Lord, who is praiseworthy; and I will be saved from my enemies.
5 Quando mi avvolsero le onde di morte, i torrenti di Belial mi oppressero,	5 For the pangs of death have encircled me. The torrents of Belial have terrified me.
6 le corde degli inferi mi circondarono, mi affrontarono i lacci di morte,	6 The ropes of Hell have encompassed me. The snares of death have intercepted me.
7 nella mia angustia invocai il Signore, e verso il mio Dio gridai, dal suo palazzo ascoltò la mia voce e la mia supplica giunse alle sue orecchie.	7 In my tribulation, I will call upon the Lord, and I will cry out to my God. And he will heed my voice from his temple, and my outcry will reach his ears.
8 Si agitò e si scosse la terra le fondamenta dei cieli tremarono; si agitarono perché si accese la sua ira.	8 The earth was shaken, and it quaked. The foundations of the mountains were struck together and violently shaken, because he was angry with them.
9 Salì fumo dalle sue narici e fuoco divoratore dalla sua bocca, carboni fiammeggiarono da lui.	9 Smoke ascends from his nostrils, and fire from his mouth will devour; coals have been kindled by it.
10 Piegò i cieli e discese, e una densa nube era sotto i suoi piedi,	10 He bent down the heavens, and it descended; and a fog was beneath his feet.
11 cavalcò un cherubino e volò, apparve sulle ali del vento;	11 And he climbed upon the cherubim, and he flew; and he slid upon the wings of the wind.
12 si avvolse di tenebre come tenda, un ammasso di acqua, nubi profondissime.	12 He set darkness as a hiding place around himself, with waters sifted from the clouds of the heavens.
13 Per lo splendore davanti a lui, s'accesero carboni di fuoco;	13 By means of the brightness of his glance, coals of fire were kindled.
14 tuonò dal cielo il Signore e l'Altissimo emise la sua voce:	14 The Lord will thunder from heaven; and the Most High will utter his voice.
15 scoccò frecce e le disseminò, scagliò fulmini e li sparpagliò.	15 He shot arrows, and he scattered them; lightning, and he consumed them.
16 Furono messi a nudo gli abissi del mare, le fondamenta del mondo furono scoperte, al rimbombo minaccioso del Signore, al soffio del vento delle sue narici.	16 And the overflow of the sea appeared, and the foundations of the globe were revealed, at the rebuke of the Lord, at the exhale of the breath of his fury.
17 Dall'alto stese la mano e mi afferrò, mi trasse fuori dalle acque profonde.	17 He sent from on high, and he took me up. And he drew me out of many waters.
18 Mi salvò dal mio potente nemico, dai miei avversari, perché più forti di me.	18 He freed me from my most powerful enemy and from those who had hated me. For they were too strong for me.
19 Mi affrontarono nel giorno della mia calamità, ma il Signore fu il sostegno per me.	19 He went before me in the day of my affliction, and the Lord became my firmament.
20 Mi fece uscire in luogo spazioso, mi liberò perché si compiace in me.	20 And he led me out to a wide-open place. He freed me, because I was pleasing to him.
21 Il Signore mi ricompensò secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la purezza delle mie mani mi retribuì;	21 The Lord will reward me according to my justice. And he will repay me according to the cleanness of my hands.
22 perché io ho osservato le vie del Signore e non ho agito male lontano dal mio Dio;	22 For I have kept to the ways of the Lord, and I have not acted impiously before my God.
23 perché ogni suo precetto fu davanti a me, e dalla sua legge non mi allontanai.	23 For all his judgments are in my sight. And I have not removed his precepts from me.
24 Fui perfetto verso di lui, e mi guardai dal mio peccato.	24 And I shall be perfect with him. And I shall guard myself from my own iniquity.
25 Il Signore mi ricompensò secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la mia innocenza davanti ai suoi occhi.	25 And the Lord will recompense me according to my justice, and according to the cleanness of my hands in the sight of his eyes.
26 Con il pio tratti da pio, con l'uomo perfetto tratti da perfetto;	26 With the holy one, you will be holy, and with the strong one, you will be perfect.
27 con il sincero ti mostri sincero, ma con il perverso ti mostri subdolo.	27 With the elect one, you will be elect, and with the perverse one, you will be perverse.
28 Tu salvi il popolo umile e sui superbi abbassi i tuoi occhi.	28 And you will bring to salvation the poor people, and you will humble the exalted with your eyes.
29 Certo, tu sei la mia lampada, o Signore, è il Signore che illumina le mie tenebre.	29 For you are my lamp, O Lord. And you, O Lord, will illuminate my darkness.
30 Certo, con te inseguo una truppa, col mio Dio posso saltare una muraglia.	30 For in you, I will run girded. In my God, I will leap over the wall.
31 Dio, il suo dominio è perfetto, il comando del Signore è sicuro. Egli è scudo per tutti quelli che si rifugiano in lui.	31 God, his way is immaculate; the eloquence of the Lord is an exacting fire. He is the shield of all who hope in him.
32 Certo, chi è Dio fuori del Signore, e chi è rupe fuori del Dio nostro?	32 Who is God except the Lord? And who is strong except our God?
33 Dio è mia fortezza potente, ed estende il suo dominio perfetto,	33 God, he has girded me with fortitude, and he has made my way perfect:
34 egli rese i miei piedi come quelli delle cerve, mi fa stare in piedi sulle alture;	34 making my feet like the feet of the stag, and stationing me upon my exalted places,
35 egli addestrò le mie mani alla guerra e pose un arco di bronzo nelle mie braccia.	35 teaching my hands to do battle, and making my arms like a bow of brass.
36 Tu mi desti il tuo scudo vittorioso e il tuo trionfo mi ha reso grande.	36 You have given me the shield of your salvation. And your mildness has multiplied me.
37 Tu rendesti spedito il mio passo, e le mie caviglie non vacillarono.	37 You will enlarge my steps under me, and my ankles will not fail.
38 Inseguii i miei nemici e li distrussi, non tornai indietro finché non li annientai.	38 I will pursue my enemies, and crush them. And I will not turn back, until I consume them.
39 Li annientai e li percossi, tanto che non poterono alzarsi, essi caddero sotto i miei piedi.	39 I will consume them and break them apart, so that they cannot rise up; they will fall under my feet.
40 Mi hai cinto di forza per la battaglia, hai fatto cadere sotto di me i miei aggressori.	40 You have girded me with strength for the battle. Those who resisted me, you have bent down under me.
41 Tu mi hai dato la nuca dei miei nemici, i miei avversari li ho sterminati;	41 You have caused my enemies to turn their back to me; they have hatred for me, and I shall destroy them.
42 essi guardarono, ma non vi era il salvatore, verso il Signore, ma non rispose ad essi.	42 They will cry out, and there will be no one to save; to the Lord, and he will not heed them.
43 Li ho stritolati come la polvere della terra, come il fango delle strade li ho polverizzati e calpestati.	43 I will wipe them away like the dust of the earth. I will break them apart and crush them, like the mud of the streets.
44 Mi hai liberato dalle lotte del mio popolo, mi hai conservato a capo delle nazioni, gente che non conoscevo mi ha servito;	44 You will save me from the contradictions of my people. You will preserve me to be the head of the Gentiles; a people I do not know shall serve me.
45 i figli dello straniero si umiliano davanti a me, appena sentono mi obbediscono;	45 The sons of foreigners, who will resist me, at the hearing of the ear they will be obedient to me.
46 i figli dello straniero vengono meno, escono tremanti dai loro nascondigli.	46 The foreigners flowed away, but they will be drawn together in their anguishes.
47 Viva il Signore! Benedetta la mia rupe! Sia esaltato il Dio della mia roccia di salvezza,	47 The Lord lives, and my God is blessed. And the strong God of my salvation shall be exalted.
48 il Dio che mi concede le vendette, e che mi sottomette i popoli,	48 God gives me vindication, and he casts down the peoples under me.
49 che mi sottrae ai miei nemici; tu mi poni al disopra dei miei aggressori e mi salvi da uomini violenti.	49 He leads me away from my enemies, and he lifts me up from those who resist me. You will free me from the iniquitous man.
50 Per questo ti lodo, o Signore, tra i popoli, e inneggerò al tuo nome.	50 Because of this, I will confess to you, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and I will sing to your name:
51 Egli concede grandi vittorie al suo re, e compie opere d'amore per il suo consacrato, per Davide e la sua discendenza per sempre".	51 magnifying the salvation of his king, and showing mercy to David, his Christ, and to his offspring forever.”
