Secondo libro di Samuele 22

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Davide rivolse al Signore le parole di questo canto, il giorno in cui il Signore lo liberò dalla mano di tutti i suoi nemici e dalla mano di Saul.	1 David addressed the words of this song to Yahweh, when Yahweh had delivered him from theclutches of all his enemies and from the clutches of Saul.
2 Egli disse: "Il Signore è mia roccia e mia fortezza, mio rifugio per me è	2 He said: Yahweh is my rock and my fortress,
3 il mio Dio; mia rupe in cui mi rifugio, mio scudo e mio corno di salvezza; mia rocca e mio rifugio, mio salvatore. Tu mi salvi dalla violenza.	3 my deliverer is my God. I take refuge in him, my rock, my shield, my saving strength, my stronghold,my place of refuge. My Saviour, you have saved me from violence;
4 Invocai il Signore, degno di lode, e fui salvato dai miei nemici.	4 I cal to Yahweh, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my foes.
5 Quando mi avvolsero le onde di morte, i torrenti di Belial mi oppressero,	5 With Death's breakers closing in on me, Belial's torrents ready to swal ow me,
6 le corde degli inferi mi circondarono, mi affrontarono i lacci di morte,	6 Sheol's snares on every side of me, Death's traps lying ahead of me,
7 nella mia angustia invocai il Signore, e verso il mio Dio gridai, dal suo palazzo ascoltò la mia voce e la mia supplica giunse alle sue orecchie.	7 I cal ed to Yahweh in my anguish, I cried for help to my God, from his Temple he heard my voice, mycry came to his ears!
8 Si agitò e si scosse la terra le fondamenta dei cieli tremarono; si agitarono perché si accese la sua ira.	8 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the heavens' foundations shuddered, they quaked at his blazinganger.
9 Salì fumo dalle sue narici e fuoco divoratore dalla sua bocca, carboni fiammeggiarono da lui.	9 Smoke rose from his nostrils, from his mouth devouring fire (coals were kindled at it).
10 Piegò i cieli e discese, e una densa nube era sotto i suoi piedi,	10 He parted the heavens and came down, a storm-cloud underneath his feet;
11 cavalcò un cherubino e volò, apparve sulle ali del vento;	11 riding one of the winged creatures, he flew, soaring on the wings of the wind.
12 si avvolse di tenebre come tenda, un ammasso di acqua, nubi profondissime.	12 He wrapped himself in darkness, his pavilion dark waters and dense cloud.
13 Per lo splendore davanti a lui, s'accesero carboni di fuoco;	13 A brightness lit up before him, hail and blazing fire.
14 tuonò dal cielo il Signore e l'Altissimo emise la sua voce:	14 Yahweh thundered from the heavens, the Most High made his voice heard.
15 scoccò frecce e le disseminò, scagliò fulmini e li sparpagliò.	15 He shot his arrows and scattered them, his lightning flashed and routed them.
16 Furono messi a nudo gli abissi del mare, le fondamenta del mondo furono scoperte, al rimbombo minaccioso del Signore, al soffio del vento delle sue narici.	16 The very springs of ocean were exposed, the world's foundations were laid bare, at the roaring ofYahweh, at the blast of breath from his nostrils!
17 Dall'alto stese la mano e mi afferrò, mi trasse fuori dalle acque profonde.	17 He reached down from on high, snatched me up, pul ed me from the watery depths,
18 Mi salvò dal mio potente nemico, dai miei avversari, perché più forti di me.	18 rescued me from my mighty foe, from my enemies who were stronger than I.
19 Mi affrontarono nel giorno della mia calamità, ma il Signore fu il sostegno per me.	19 They assailed me on my day of disaster, but Yahweh was there to support me,
20 Mi fece uscire in luogo spazioso, mi liberò perché si compiace in me.	20 he freed me, set me at large, he rescued me, because he loves me.
21 Il Signore mi ricompensò secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la purezza delle mie mani mi retribuì;	21 Yahweh rewards me for my uprightness, as my hands are pure so he repays me,
22 perché io ho osservato le vie del Signore e non ho agito male lontano dal mio Dio;	22 since I have kept the ways of Yahweh, and not fal en away from my God.
23 perché ogni suo precetto fu davanti a me, e dalla sua legge non mi allontanai.	23 His judgements are al before me, his statutes I have not put away from me;
24 Fui perfetto verso di lui, e mi guardai dal mio peccato.	24 I am blameless before him, I keep myself clear of evil.
25 Il Signore mi ricompensò secondo la mia giustizia, secondo la mia innocenza davanti ai suoi occhi.	25 Hence Yahweh repaid me for acting uprightly because he could see I was pure.
26 Con il pio tratti da pio, con l'uomo perfetto tratti da perfetto;	26 Faithful you are to the faithful, blameless with the blameless,
27 con il sincero ti mostri sincero, ma con il perverso ti mostri subdolo.	27 sincere to the sincere but cunning to the crafty,
28 Tu salvi il popolo umile e sui superbi abbassi i tuoi occhi.	28 you save a people that is humble and humiliate those with haughty looks.
29 Certo, tu sei la mia lampada, o Signore, è il Signore che illumina le mie tenebre.	29 Yahweh, you yourself are my lamp, my God lights up my darkness;
30 Certo, con te inseguo una truppa, col mio Dio posso saltare una muraglia.	30 with you I storm the rampart with my God I can scale any wal .
31 Dio, il suo dominio è perfetto, il comando del Signore è sicuro. Egli è scudo per tutti quelli che si rifugiano in lui.	31 This God, his way is blameless; the word of Yahweh is refined in the furnace, for he alone is theshield of al who take refuge in him.
32 Certo, chi è Dio fuori del Signore, e chi è rupe fuori del Dio nostro?	32 For who is God but Yahweh, who is a rock but our God:
33 Dio è mia fortezza potente, ed estende il suo dominio perfetto,	33 this God who girds me with strength, who makes my way free from blame,
34 egli rese i miei piedi come quelli delle cerve, mi fa stare in piedi sulle alture;	34 who makes me as swift as a deer and sets me firmly on the heights,
35 egli addestrò le mie mani alla guerra e pose un arco di bronzo nelle mie braccia.	35 who trains my hands for battle my arms to bend a bow of bronze.
36 Tu mi desti il tuo scudo vittorioso e il tuo trionfo mi ha reso grande.	36 You give me your invincible shield, you never cease to listen to me,
37 Tu rendesti spedito il mio passo, e le mie caviglie non vacillarono.	37 you give me the strides of a giant, give me ankles that never weaken-
38 Inseguii i miei nemici e li distrussi, non tornai indietro finché non li annientai.	38 I pursue my enemies and exterminate them, not turning back till they are annihilated;
39 Li annientai e li percossi, tanto che non poterono alzarsi, essi caddero sotto i miei piedi.	39 I strike them down, and they cannot rise, they fal , they are under my feet.
40 Mi hai cinto di forza per la battaglia, hai fatto cadere sotto di me i miei aggressori.	40 You have girded me with strength for the fight, bent down my assailants beneath me,
41 Tu mi hai dato la nuca dei miei nemici, i miei avversari li ho sterminati;	41 made my enemies retreat before me; and those who hate me I destroy.
42 essi guardarono, ma non vi era il salvatore, verso il Signore, ma non rispose ad essi.	42 They cry out, there is no one to save, to Yahweh, but no answer comes.
43 Li ho stritolati come la polvere della terra, come il fango delle strade li ho polverizzati e calpestati.	43 I crumble them like the dust of the squares, trample them like the mud of the streets.
44 Mi hai liberato dalle lotte del mio popolo, mi hai conservato a capo delle nazioni, gente che non conoscevo mi ha servito;	44 You free me from the quarrels of my people, you place me at the head of the nations, a people I didnot know are now my servants,
45 i figli dello straniero si umiliano davanti a me, appena sentono mi obbediscono;	45 foreigners come wooing my favour, no sooner do they hear than they obey me,
46 i figli dello straniero vengono meno, escono tremanti dai loro nascondigli.	46 foreigners grow faint of heart, they come trembling out of their fastnesses.
47 Viva il Signore! Benedetta la mia rupe! Sia esaltato il Dio della mia roccia di salvezza,	47 Life to Yahweh! Blessed be my rock! Exalted be the God of my salvation,
48 il Dio che mi concede le vendette, e che mi sottomette i popoli,	48 the God who gives me vengeance and crushes the peoples under me,
49 che mi sottrae ai miei nemici; tu mi poni al disopra dei miei aggressori e mi salvi da uomini violenti.	49 who takes me away from my enemies. You lift me high above those who attack me, you deliver mefrom the man of violence.
50 Per questo ti lodo, o Signore, tra i popoli, e inneggerò al tuo nome.	50 For this I wil praise you, Yahweh, among the nations, and sing praise to your name.
51 Egli concede grandi vittorie al suo re, e compie opere d'amore per il suo consacrato, per Davide e la sua discendenza per sempre".	51 He saves his king, time after time, displays faithful love for his anointed, for David and his heirs forever.
