Psalms 129

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
A Canticle in steps. From the depths, I have cried out to you, O Lord.1 A song of ascents. Much have they oppressed me from my youth, now let Israel say.
O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplication.2 Much have they oppressed me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed.
If you, O Lord, were to heed iniquities, who, O Lord, could persevere?3 Upon my back the plowers plowed, as they traced their long furrows.
For with you, there is forgiveness, and because of your law, I persevered with you, Lord. My soul has persevered in his word.4 But the just LORD cut me free from the ropes of the yoke of the wicked.
My soul has hoped in the Lord.5 May they be scattered in disgrace, all who hate Zion.
From the morning watch, even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.6 May they be like grass on the rooftops withered in early growth,
For with the Lord there is mercy, and with him there is bountiful redemption.7 Never to fill the reaper's hands, nor the arms of the binders of sheaves,
And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities.8 With none passing by to call out: "The blessing of the LORD be upon you! We bless you in the name of the LORD!"
