1 Im Übrigen, Brüder, betet für uns, damit das Wort des Herrn sich ausbreitet und verherrlicht wird, ebenso wie bei euch.	1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you,
2 Betet auch darum, dass wir vor den bösen und schlechten Menschen gerettet werden; denn nicht alle nehmen den Glauben an.	2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith.
3 Aber der Herr ist treu; er wird euch Kraft geben und euch vor dem Bösen bewahren.	3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from evil.
4 Wir vertrauen im Herrn auf euch, dass ihr jetzt und auch in Zukunft tut, was wir anordnen.	4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command.
5 Der Herr richte euer Herz darauf, dass ihr Gott liebt und unbeirrt auf Christus wartet.	5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
6 Im Namen Jesu Christi, des Herrn, gebieten wir euch, Brüder: Haltet euch von jedem Bruder fern, der ein unordentliches Leben führt und sich nicht an die Überlieferung hält, die ihr von uns empfangen habt.	6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.
7 Ihr selbst wisst, wie man uns nachahmen soll. Wir haben bei euch kein unordentliches Leben geführt	7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,
8 und bei niemand unser Brot umsonst gegessen; wir haben uns gemüht und geplagt, Tag und Nacht haben wir gearbeitet, um keinem von euch zur Last zu fallen.	8 we did not eat any one's bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.
9 Nicht als hätten wir keinen Anspruch auf Unterhalt; wir wollten euch aber ein Beispiel geben, damit ihr uns nachahmen könnt.	9 It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.
10 Denn als wir bei euch waren, haben wir euch die Regel eingeprägt: Wer nicht arbeiten will, soll auch nicht essen.	10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat.
11 Wir hören aber, dass einige von euch ein unordentliches Leben führen und alles Mögliche treiben, nur nicht arbeiten.	11 For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.
12 Wir ermahnen sie und gebieten ihnen im Namen Jesu Christi, des Herrn, in Ruhe ihrer Arbeit nachzugehen und ihr selbst verdientes Brot zu essen.	12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.
13 Ihr aber, Brüder, werdet nicht müde, Gutes zu tun.	13 Brethren, do not be weary in well-doing.
14 Wenn jemand auf unsere Mahnung in diesem Brief nicht hört, dann merkt ihn euch und meidet den Umgang mit ihm, damit er sich schämt;	14 If any one refuses to obey what we say in this letter, note that man, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 doch seht ihn nicht als Feind an, sondern weist ihn als euren Bruder zurecht!	15 Do not look on him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.
16 Der Herr des Friedens aber schenke euch den Frieden zu jeder Zeit und auf jede Weise. Der Herr sei mit euch allen.	16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.
17 Den Gruß schreibe ich, Paulus, eigenhändig. Das ist mein Zeichen in jedem Brief; so schreibe ich.	17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is the mark in every letter of mine; it is the way I write.
18 Die Gnade Jesu Christi, unseres Herrn, sei mit euch allen!	18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
