1 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, der auch Edom hieß:	1 These are the descendants of Esau, that is, Edom.
2 Esau nahm sich seine Frauen aus den Töchtern Kanaans: Ada, die Tochter des Hetiters Elon, Oholibama, die Tochter des Ana, eines Sohnes des Hiwiters Zibon,	2 Esau chose his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamahdaughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite,
3 und Basemat, die Tochter Ismaels, eine Schwester Nebajots.	3 Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth.
4 Ada gebar dem Esau Elifas, Basemat gebar Reguël	4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel,

7 Ihr Besitz war nämlich zu groß, als dass sie zusammen hätten wohnen können. Das Land, in dem sie lebten, konnte wegen ihres Viehbestandes nicht beide ernähren.	7 For they had acquired too much to live together. The land in which they were at that time could notsupport them both because of their livestock.
8 So ließ sich Esau im Bergland Seïr nieder. Esau ist Edom.	8 That is why Edom settled in the mountainous region of Seir. Esau is Edom.
9 Das ist die Geschlechterfolge nach Esau, dem Stammvater von Edom im Bergland Seïr.	9 These are the descendants of Esau, ancestor of Edom, in the mountainous region of Seir.
10 Die Namen der Söhne Esaus sind: Elifas, der Sohn der Ada, der Frau Esaus, und Reguël, der Sohn Basemats, der Frau Esaus.	10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel son of Esau's wifeBasemath.
11 Die Söhne des Elifas sind: Teman, Omar, Zefo, Gatam und Kenas.	11 The sons of Eliphaz were: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz.
12 Timna war die Nebenfrau des Elifas, des Sohnes Esaus. Sie gebar dem Elifas Amalek. Das waren die Söhne Adas, der Frau Esaus.	12 Eliphaz son of Esau had Timna for concubine and she bore him Amalek. These were the sons ofEsau's wife Adah.

16 Häuptling Korach, Häuptling Gatam, Häuptling Amalek. Das waren die Häuptlinge des Elifas in Edom, lauter Söhne der Ada.	16 Gatam and Amalek. These are the chieftains of Eliphaz in Edom and are descended from Adah.
17 Das sind die Söhne Reguëls, des Sohnes Esaus: Häuptling Nahat, Häuptling Serach, Häuptling Schamma, Häuptling Misa. Das waren die Häuptlinge Reguëls in Edom; sie waren die Söhne Basemats, der Frau Esaus.	17 The descendants of Esau's son Reuel: the chieftains of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah.These are the chieftains of Reuel in Edom and are descended from Esau's wife Basemath.
18 Das sind die Söhne Oholibamas, der Frau Esaus: Häuptling Jëusch, Häuptling Jalam, Häuptling Korach. 35 Als Huscham starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Hadad, der Sohn Bedads, der Midian im Grünland von Moab schlug; seine Stadt hieß Awit.	35 Husham died and Hadad son of Bedad succeeded; he defeated the Midianites in Moab, and his citywas called Avith.

38 Als Schaul starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors.	38 Shaul died and Baal-Hanan son of Achbor succeeded.
39 Als Baal-Hanan, der Sohn Achbors, starb, wurde König an seiner Stelle Hadar; seine Stadt hieß Pagu. Seine Frau hieß Mehetabel; sie war die Tochter Matreds und Enkelin Me-Sahabs.	39 Baal-Hanan died and Hadad succeeded; his city was called Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabeldaughter of Matred, from Mezahab.

41 Häuptling Oholibama, Häuptling Ela, Häuptling Pinon,	41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,
42 Häuptling Kenas, Häuptling Teman, Häuptling Mibzar,	42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,
