Job 34

DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 And Eliu continued his discourse, and said :	1 Elihú tomó la palabra y dijo:
2 Hear ye, wise men, my words, and ye learned, hearken to me :	2 ¡Escuchen, sabios, mis palabras, y ustedes, los expertos, préstenme atención!
3 For the ear trieth words, and the mouth discerneth meats by the taste.	3 Porque el oído discierne las palabras como el paladar gusta los alimentos.
4 Let us choose to us judgment, and let us see among ourselves what is the best.	4 Decidamos entre nosotros lo que es recto, reconozcamos todos juntos lo que es bueno.
5 For Job hath said : I am just, and God hath overthrown my judgment.	5 Porque Job declara: «Yo tengo razón, pero Dios me privó de mi derecho.
6 For in judging me there is a lie : my arrow is violent without any sin.	6 El miente en lo que concierne a mi caso; mi llaga es incurable, aunque no cometí ninguna falta».
7 What man is there like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?	7 ¿Hay alguien como Job, que bebe los sarcasmos como agua,
8 Who goeth in company with them that work iniquity, and walketh with wicked men?	8 que va en compañía de los malhechores y camina con los hombres perversos?
9 For he hath said : Man shall not please God, although he run with him.	9 Porque él dice: «Al hombre no le sirve de nada tratar de obtener el favor de Dios».
10 Therefore, ye men of understanding, hear me : far from god be wickedness, and iniquity from the Almighty.	10 Por eso, escúchenme, hombres sensatos: ¡lejos de Dios la maldad, y del Todopoderoso, la injusticia!
11 For he will render to a man his work, and according to the ways of every one he will reward them.	11 Porque él retribuye al hombre según sus obras y trata a cada uno conforme a su conducta.
12 For in very deed God will not condemn without cause, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.	12 ¡No, no es cierto que Dios hace el mal y que el Todopoderoso tergiversa el derecho!
13 What other hath he appointed over the earth? or whom hath he set over the world which he made?	13 ¿Quién le ha encomendado la tierra y quién lo encargó del mundo entero?
14 If he turn his heart to him, he shall draw his spirit and breath unto himself.	14 Si él retirara su espíritu y recogiera su aliento de vida,
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall return into ashes.	15 todos los vivientes expirarían a la vez y los hombres volverían al polvo.
16 If then thou hast understanding, hear what is said, and hearken to the voice of my words.	16 Si tienes inteligencia, escucha esto, presta atención al sonido de mis palabras.
17 Can he be healed that loveth not judgment? and how dost thou so far condemn him that is just?	17 ¿Sabría gobernar al Justo, al Poderoso?
18 Who saith to the king : Thou art an apostate : who calleth rulers ungodly?	18 ¡A él, que llama «¡Inútil!» a un rey y «¡Malvados!» a los dignatarios,
19 Who accepteth not the persons of princes : nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man : for all are the work of his hands.	19 que no toma partido por los príncipes ni favorece al rico en perjuicio del pobre, porque todos son obra de sus manos!
20 They shall suddenly die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and they shall pass, and take away the violent without hand.	20 Ellos mueren en un instante, en plena noche; él hiere a los nobles, y desaparecen, depone al hombre fuerte sin la ayuda de nadie.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he considereth all their steps.	21 Porque sus ojos miran los caminos del hombre y él observa sus pasos:
22 There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.	22 no hay tinieblas ni oscuridad donde puedan ocultarse los que hacen el mal.
23 For it is no longer in the power of man to enter into judgment with God.	23 Porque él no fija al hombre una fecha para presentarse a juicio ante Dios:
24 He shall break in pieces many and innumerable, and shall make others to stand in their stead.	24 él quebrante a los grandes sin previo examen y pone a otros en lugar de ellos.
25 For he knoweth their works : and therefore he shall bring night on them, and they shall be destroyed.	25 Así, porque él conoce todas sus acciones, los derriba en una noche, y quedan aplastados.
26 He hath struck them, as being wicked, in open sight.	26 Los abofetea como a malhechores en un lugar que está a la vista de todos,
27 Who as it were on purpose have revolted from him, and would not understand all his ways :	27 porque se negaron a seguirlo y no comprendieron todos sus caminos,
28 So that they caused the cry of the needy to come to him, and he heard the voice of the poor.	28 haciendo que llegara hasta él el grito del pobre y que él escuchara el clamor de los oprimidos.
29 For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?	29 Si él se queda inmóvil, ¿quién lo sacudirá? Si cubre su rostro, ¿quién lo verá? El vigila, sin embargo, a naciones e individuos
30 Who maketh a man that is a hypocrite to reign for the sins of the people?	30 para que no reine ningún hombre impío, uno de esos que son una trampa para el pueblo.
31 Seeing then I have spoken of God, I will not hinder thee in thy turn.	31 Tú solo tienes que decir a Dios: «Yo fui seducido, no volveré a hacer el mal;
32 If I have erred, teach thou me : if I have spoken iniquity, I will add no more.	32 instrúyeme, hasta que pueda ver. Si cometí una injusticia, no voy a reincidir».
33 Doth God require it of thee, because it hath displeased thee? for thou begannest to speak, and not I. : but if thou know any thing better, speak.	33 ¿Acaso él retribuirá según tu parecer, siendo así que tú has despreciado su instrucción? Ya que eres tú el que decide, no yo, dile todo lo que sepas.
34 Let men of understanding speak to me, and let a wise man hearken to me.	34 Los hombres sensatos me dirán y también todo sabio que me escuche:
35 But Job hath spoken foolishly, and his words sound not discipline.	35 «Job no sabe lo que dice y sus palabras carecen de sentido».
36 My father, let Job be tried even to the end : cease not from the man of iniquity.	36 Que Job sea examinado hasta el final por haber respondido como un hombre perverso.
37 Because he addeth blasphemy upon his sins, let him be tied fast in the mean time amongst us : and then let him provoke God to judgment with his speeches.	37 Porque él, a su pecado, añade la rebeldía, aplaude en medio de nosotros y multiplica sus palabras contra Dios.
