| 1 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܚܝܒܝܢܢ ܕܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܢܗܘܐ ܙܗܝܪܝܢ ܒܡܕܡ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܠ ܀ | 1 We ought, then, to turn our minds more attentively than before to what we have been taught, so that wedo not drift away. |
| 2 ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܬܡܠܠܬ ܒܝܕ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܐܫܬܪܪܬ ܘܟܠ ܕܫܡܥܗ ܘܥܒܪ ܥܠܝܗ ܩܒܠ ܦܘܪܥܢܐ ܒܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܀ | 2 If a message that was spoken through angels proved to be so reliable that every infringement anddisobedience brought its own proper punishment, |
| 3 ܐܝܟܢܐ ܚܢܢ ܢܥܪܘܩ ܐܢ ܢܒܤܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܚܝܝܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܫܪܝܘ ܡܢ ܡܪܢ ܠܡܬܡܠܠܘ ܘܡܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܢܗ ܫܡܥܘ ܒܢ ܐܫܬܪܪܘ ܀ | 3 then we shal certainly not go unpunished if we neglect such a great salvation. It was first announced bythe Lord himself, and is guaranteed to us by those who heard him; |
| 4 ܟܕ ܤܗܕ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܒܐܬܘܬܐ ܘܒܬܕܡܪܬܐ ܘܒܚܝܠܐ ܡܫܚܠܦܐ ܘܒܦܘܠܓܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܕܐܬܝܗܒܘ ܐܝܟ ܨܒܝܢܗ ܀ | 4 God himself confirmed their witness with signs and marvels and miracles of al kinds, and bydistributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the various ways he wil s. |
| 5 ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܡܠܐܟܐ ܫܥܒܕ ܥܠܡܐ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܡܠܠܝܢܢ ܀ | 5 It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking. |
| 6 ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܤܗܕ ܟܬܒܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܥܗܕܬܝܗܝ ܘܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܕܤܥܪܬܝܗܝ ܀ | 6 Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare athought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him? |
| 7 ܐܡܟܬܝܗܝ ܩܠܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܐܝܩܪܐ ܤܡܬ ܒܪܝܫܗ ܘܐܫܠܛܬܝܗܝ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܝܕܝܟ ܀ | 7 For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory andhonour, |
| 8 ܘܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܫܥܒܕܬ ܬܚܝܬ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܒܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܕܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܫܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܫܒܩ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܡܫܥܒܕ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܥܕܟܝܠ ܚܙܝܢܢ ܕܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܡܫܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܀ | 8 put al things under his feet. For in putting al things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it istrue, we are not able to see that all things are under him, |
| 9 ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܟ ܩܠܝܠ ܡܢ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܚܙܝܢܢ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܛܠ ܚܫܐ ܕܡܘܬܗ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܐܝܩܪܐ ܤܝܡ ܒܪܝܫܗ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܠܦ ܟܠܢܫ ܛܥܡ ܡܘܬܐ ܀ | 9 but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory andhonour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit allhumanity. |
| 10 ܝܐܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܗܘ ܕܟܠ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܟܠ ܡܛܠܬܗ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܐܥܠ ܠܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܠܪܝܫܐ ܕܚܝܝܗܘܢ ܒܚܫܗ ܢܓܡܪܝܘܗܝ ܀ | 10 It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons toglory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation. |
| 11 ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܩܕܫ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܬܩܕܫܘ ܡܢ ܚܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܐ ܒܗܬ ܕܢܩܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܀ | 11 For consecrator and consecrated are al of the same stock; that is why he is not ashamed to call thembrothers |
| 12 ܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܐܤܒܪ ܫܡܟ ܠܐܚܝ ܘܒܓܘܗ ܕܥܕܬܐ ܐܫܒܚܟ ܀ | 12 in the text: I shal proclaim your name to my brothers, praise you in full assembly; or in the text: |
| 13 ܘܬܘܒ ܕܐܢܐ ܐܗܘܐ ܬܟܝܠ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܬܘܒ ܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܀ | 13 I shal put my hope in him; fol owed by Look, I and the children whom God has given me. |
| 14 ܡܛܠ ܓܝܪ ܕܒܢܝܐ ܐܫܬܘܬܦܘ ܒܒܤܪܐ ܘܕܡܐ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܒܗ ܒܕܡܘܬܐ ܐܫܬܘܬܦ ܒܗܝܢ ܒܗܠܝܢ ܕܒܡܘܬܗ ܢܒܛܠ ܠܡܢ ܕܐܚܝܕ ܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܤܛܢܐ ܀ | 14 Since al the children share the same human nature, he too shared equal y in it, so that by his deathhe could set aside him who held the power of death, namely the devil, |
| 15 ܘܢܫܪܐ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܕܚܠܬܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܝܝܗܘܢ ܡܫܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܥܒܕܘܬܐ ܀ | 15 and set free al those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death. |
| 16 ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܠ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܡܫܠܛ ܗܘܐ ܡܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܥܠ ܙܪܥܗ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܡܫܠܛ ܗܘܐ ܀ | 16 For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself the line of Abraham. |
| 17 ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܙܕܩ ܗܘܐ ܕܒܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܢܬܕܡܐ ܠܐܚܘܗܝ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܡܪܚܡܢܐ ܘܪܒ ܟܘܡܪܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܒܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܡܚܤܐ ܥܠ ܚܛܗܘܗܝ ܕܥܡܐ ܀ | 17 It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he couldbecome a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of thepeople. |
| 18 ܒܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܕܗܘ ܚܫ ܘܐܬܢܤܝ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܥܕܪ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܢܤܝܢ ܀ | 18 For the suffering he himself passed through while being put to the test enables him to help otherswhen they are being put to the test. |
