1 No primeiro dia do segundo mês, no segundo ano depois da saída do Egito, o Senhor disse a Moisés no deserto do Sinai, na tenda de reunião:	1 In the year following that of the Israelites' departure from the land of Egypt, on the first day of the second month, the LORD said to Moses in the meeting tent in the desert of Sinai:
2 "Fazei o recenseamento de toda a assembléia dos filhos de Israel segundo suas famílias, suas casas patriarcais, contando nominalmente por cabeça todos os varões da idade de vinte anos para cima,	2 "Take a census of the whole community of the Israelites, by clans and ancestral houses, registering each male individually.
3 todos os israelitas aptos para o serviço das armas: fareis o recenseamento deles segundo os seus grupos, tu e Aarão.	3 You and Aaron shall enroll in companies all the men in Israel of twenty years or more who are fit for military service.
4 Assistir-vos-á um homem de cada tribo, um chefe da casa de seu pai.	4 "To assist you there shall be a man from each tribe, the head of his ancestral house.
5 Eis os nomes daqueles que vos hão de acompanhar: de Rubem, Elisur, filho de Sedeur;	5 These are the names of those who are to assist you: from Reuben: Elizur, son of Shedeur;
6 de Simeão, Salamiel, filho de Surisadai;	6 from Simeon: Shelumiel, son of Zurishaddai;
7 de Judá, Naasson, filho de Aminadab;	7 from Judah: Nahshon, son of Amminadab;
8 de Issacar, Natanael, filho de Suar;	8 from Issachar: Nethanel, son of Zuar;
9 de Zabulon, Eliab, filho de Elom;	9 from Zebulun: Eliab, son of Helon;
10 dos filhos de José: de Efraim, Elisama, filho de Amiud; de Manassés, Gamaliel, filho de Fadassur;	10 from Ephraim: Elishama, son of Ammihud, and from Manasseh: Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, for the descendants of Joseph;
11 de Benjamim, Abidã, filho de Gedeão;	11 from Benjamin: Abidan, son of Gideoni;
12 de Dã, Aieser, filho de Amisadai;	12 from Dan: Ahiezer, son of Ammishaddai;
13 de Aser, Fegiel, filho de Ocrã;	13 from Asher: Pagiel, son of Ochran;
14 de Gad, Eliasaf, filho de Duel;	14 from Gad: Eliasaph, son of Reuel;
15 de Neftali, Aira, filho de Enã".	15 from Naphtali: Ahira, son of Enan."
16 Tais são os que foram escolhidos da assembléia. Eram os príncipes de suas tribos patriarcais, chefes de milhares em Israel.	16 These were councilors of the community, princes of their ancestral tribes, chiefs of the troops of Israel.
17 Depois de se terem ajuntado esses homens designados pelos seus nomes, Moisés e Aarão	17 So Moses and Aaron took these men who had been designated,
18 convocaram toda a assembléia no primeiro dia do segundo mês. Efetuaram o recenseamento por clãs e famílias, contando nome por nome as pessoas da idade de vinte anos para cima,	18 and assembled the whole community on the first day of the second month. Every man of twenty years or more then declared his name and lineage according to clan and ancestral house,
19 assim como o Senhor ordenara a Moisés. Fez-se, pois, o recenseamento no deserto do Sinai.	19 as the LORD had commanded Moses. This is their census as taken in the desert of Sinai.
20 Dos filhos de Rubem, primogênito de Israel, seus descendentes segundo suas famílias e suas casas patriarcais, contando seus nomes por cabeça, todos os varões da idade de vinte anos para cima - todos os que eram aptos para o serviço das armas -,	20 Of the descendants of Reuben, the first-born of Israel, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,
21 foram recenseados 46.500 na tribo de Rubem.	21 forty-six thousand five hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Reuben.
22 Dos filhos de Simeão, seus descendentes segundo suas famílias e suas casas patriarcais, contando seus nomes da idade de vinte anos para cima - todos os que eram aptos para o serviço das armas -,	22 Of the descendants of Simeon, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,
23 foram recenseados 59.300 na tribo de Simeão.	23 fifty-nine thousand three hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Simeon.
24 Dos filhos de Gad, seus descendentes segundo suas famílias e suas casas patriarcais, contando seus nomes da idade de vinte anos para cima - todos os que eram aptos para o serviço das armas -,	24 Of the descendants of Gad, registered by lineage in clans and ancestral houses: when all the males of twenty years or more who were fit for military service were polled,

43 foram recenseados 53.400 na tribo de Neftali.	43 fifty-three thousand four hundred were enrolled in the tribe of Naphtali.
44 Estes são os que foram recenseados por Moisés e Aarão com os príncipes de Israel, em número de doze, um homem de cada casa patriarcal.	44 It was these who were registered, each according to his ancestral house, in the census taken by Moses and Aaron and the twelve princes of Israel.
45 Os israelitas recenseados por famílias, da idade de vinte anos para cima - todos os que eram aptos para o serviço das armas -,	45 The total number of the Israelites of twenty years or more who were fit for military service, registered by ancestral houses,
46 somaram o total de 603.550.	46 was six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty.
47 Quanto aos levitas, porém, não foram contados com os demais, segundo suas tribos patriarcais.	47 The Levites, however, were not registered by ancestral tribe with the others.
48 O Senhor havia dito, com efeito, a Moisés:	48 For the LORD had told Moses,
49 "Não farás o recenseamento da tribo de Levi, nem porás a soma deles com os filhos de Israel.	49 "The tribe of Levi alone you shall not enroll nor include in the census along with the other Israelites.
50 Confia-lhes o cuidado do tabernáculo do testemunho, de todos os seus utensílios e de tudo o que lhe pertence. Levarão o tabernáculo e todos os seus utensílios, farão o seu serviço e acamparão em volta do tabernáculo.	50 You are to give the Levites charge of the Dwelling of the commandments with all its equipment and all that belongs to it. It is they who shall carry the Dwelling with all its equipment and who shall be its ministers. They shall therefore camp around the Dwelling.
51 Quando se tiver de partir, os levitas desmontarão o tabernáculo e o levantarão quando se tiver de acampar. O estrangeiro que se aproximar dele será punido de morte.	51 When the Dwelling is to move on, the Levites shall take it down; when the Dwelling is to be pitched, it is the Levites who shall set it up. Any layman who comes near it shall be put to death.
52 Os israelitas acamparão cada um em seu respectivo acampamento e cada um perto de sua bandeira, segundo suas turmas.	52 While the other Israelites shall camp by companies, each in his own division of the camp,
53 Quanto aos levitas, porém, acamparão em torno do tabernáculo do testemunho, para que não suceda explodir a minha cólera contra a assembléia dos israelitas; ademais, os levitas terão a guarda do tabernáculo do testemunho".	53 the Levites shall camp around the Dwelling of the commandments. Otherwise God's wrath will strike the Israelite community. The Levites, then, shall have charge of the Dwelling of the commandments."
54 Os israelitas fizeram tudo o que o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés; assim o fizeram.	54 All this the Israelites fulfilled as the LORD had commanded Moses.
