αινος ωδης τω δαυιδ ο κατοικων εν βοηθεια του υψιστου εν σκεπη του θεου του ουρανου αυλισθησεται | 1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our refuge through all generations. |
ερει τω κυριω αντιλημπτωρ μου ει και καταφυγη μου ο θεος μου ελπιω επ' αυτον | 2 Before the mountains were born, the earth and the world brought forth, from eternity to eternity you are God. |
οτι αυτος ρυσεται με εκ παγιδος θηρευτων και απο λογου ταραχωδους | 3 But humans you return to dust, saying, "Return, you mortals!" |
εν τοις μεταφρενοις αυτου επισκιασει σοι και υπο τας πτερυγας αυτου ελπιεις οπλω κυκλωσει σε η αληθεια αυτου | 4 A thousand years in your eyes are merely a yesterday, |
ου φοβηθηση απο φοβου νυκτερινου απο βελους πετομενου ημερας | 5 you have brought them to their end; They disappear like sleep at dawn; they are like grass that dies. |
απο πραγματος διαπορευομενου εν σκοτει απο συμπτωματος και δαιμονιου μεσημβρινου | 6 It sprouts green in the morning; by evening it is dry and withered. |
πεσειται εκ του κλιτους σου χιλιας και μυριας εκ δεξιων σου προς σε δε ουκ εγγιει | 7 Truly we are consumed by your anger, filled with terror by your wrath. |
πλην τοις οφθαλμοις σου κατανοησεις και ανταποδοσιν αμαρτωλων οψη | 8 You have kept our faults before you, our hidden sins exposed to your sight. |
οτι συ κυριε η ελπις μου τον υψιστον εθου καταφυγην σου | 9 Our life ebbs away under your wrath; our years end like a sigh. |
ου προσελευσεται προς σε κακα και μαστιξ ουκ εγγιει τω σκηνωματι σου | 10 Seventy is the sum of our years, or eighty, if we are strong; Most of them are sorrow and toil; they pass quickly, we are all but gone. |
οτι τοις αγγελοις αυτου εντελειται περι σου του διαφυλαξαι σε εν πασαις ταις οδοις σου | 11 Who comprehends your terrible anger? Your wrath matches the fear it inspires. |
επι χειρων αρουσιν σε μηποτε προσκοψης προς λιθον τον ποδα σου | 12 Teach us to count our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart. |
επ' ασπιδα και βασιλισκον επιβηση και καταπατησεις λεοντα και δρακοντα | 13 Relent, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants! |
οτι επ' εμε ηλπισεν και ρυσομαι αυτον σκεπασω αυτον οτι εγνω το ονομα μου | 14 Fill us at daybreak with your love, that all our days we may sing for joy. |
επικαλεσεται με και εισακουσομαι αυτου μετ' αυτου ειμι εν θλιψει και εξελουμαι και δοξασω αυτον | 15 Make us glad as many days as you humbled us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. |
μακροτητα ημερων εμπλησω αυτον και δειξω αυτω το σωτηριον μου | 16 Show your deeds to your servants, your glory to their children. |
May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands! | |
