11 Josias autem genuit Jechoniam, et fratres ejus in transmigratione Babylonis.	11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers. Then the deportation to Babylon took place.

16 Jacob autem genuit Joseph virum Mariæ, de qua natus est Jesus, qui vocatur Christus.	16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary; of her was born Jesus who is called Christ.
17 Omnes itaque generationes ab Abraham usque ad David, generationes quatuordecim : et a David usque ad transmigrationem Babylonis, generationes quatuordecim : et a transmigratione Babylonis usque ad Christum, generationes quatuordecim.	17 The sum of generations is therefore: fourteen from Abraham to David; fourteen from David to theBabylonian deportation; and fourteen from the Babylonian deportation to Christ.
18 Christi autem generatio sic erat : cum esset desponsata mater ejus Maria Joseph, antequam convenirent inventa est in utero habens de Spiritu Sancto.	18 This is how Jesus Christ came to be born. His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph; but before theycame to live together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 Joseph autem vir ejus cum esset justus, et nollet eam traducere, voluit occulte dimittere eam.	19 Her husband Joseph, being an upright man and wanting to spare her disgrace, decided to divorce herinformal y.
20 Hæc autem eo cogitante, ecce angelus Domini apparuit in somnis ei, dicens : Joseph, fili David, noli timere accipere Mariam conjugem tuam : quod enim in ea natum est, de Spiritu Sancto est.	20 He had made up his mind to do this when suddenly the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dreamand said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because she has conceivedwhat is in her by the Holy Spirit.
21 Pariet autem filium : et vocabis nomen ejus Jesum : ipse enim salvum faciet populum suum a peccatis eorum.	21 She wil give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus, because he is the one who is to save hispeople from their sins.'
22 Hoc autem totum factum est, ut adimpleretur quod dictum est a Domino per prophetam dicentem :	22 Now al this took place to fulfil what the Lord had spoken through the prophet:
23 Ecce virgo in utero habebit, et pariet filium : et vocabunt nomen ejus Emmanuel, quod est interpretatum Nobiscum Deus.	23 Look! the virgin is with child and will give birth to a son whom they wil cal Immanuel, a name whichmeans 'God-is-with-us'.
24 Exsurgens autem Joseph a somno, fecit sicut præcepit ei angelus Domini, et accepit conjugem suam.	24 When Joseph woke up he did what the angel of the Lord had told him to do: he took his wife to hishome;
25 Et non cognoscebat eam donec peperit filium suum primogenitum : et vocavit nomen ejus Jesum.	25 he had not had intercourse with her when she gave birth to a son; and he named him Jesus.
