Iob 34

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Adunque pronunciante Eliu, anco queste cose disse:	1 Elihu continued his speech. He said:
2 Udite, savii, le mie parole; e voi, ammaestrati, ascoltate me.	2 And now, you sages, listen to what I say, lend me your ears, you learned men.
3 Certo l'orecchio prova le parole; e lo gorguzzolo l'esca collo assaggiare giudica.	3 The ear distinguishes the value of what is said, just as the palate can tel one food from another.
4 Eleggiamo lo giudicio a noi, e intra noi giudichiamo quale sia lo migliore.	4 Let us consider together God's ruling and decide what we all mean by good.
5 Perciò che disse Iob: giusto sono, e Iddio sovvertì lo mio giudicio.	5 Job has been saying, 'I am upright and God denies me fair judgement.
6 Certo, giudicando me, la bugia è; la sagitta mia è violenta senza alcuno peccato.	6 My judge is treating me cruel y, my wound is incurable, for no fault of mine.'
7 Chi è uomo, com' è Iob, che bee la derisione come acqua?	7 Can anyone else exist like Job, who laps up mockery like water,
8 Che va con coloro che òperano la iniquitade, e va con malvagi uomini?	8 who consorts with evil-doers and marches in step with the wicked?
9 Certo elli disse: non piacerà l'uomo (ancora) a Dio, se ancora corresse con lui.	9 Did he not say, 'No one derives any benefit from enjoying the society of God'?
10 E perciò, o uomini di buono cuore, udite me: partisi da Dio la empietà, e dall' Onnipotente la iniquitade.	10 Listen to me then, like intel igent people. Far be evil from God or injustice from Shaddai!
11 Certo la opera dell' uomo renderae a lui, e (appena) secondo la via di ciascheduno restituirà a lui.	11 For he pays people back for what they do, treating each as his own conduct deserves.
12 Veramente Iddio non condanna indarno, nè lo Onnipotente sovvertisce lo giudicio.	12 Be sure of it: God never does wrong, Shaddai does not pervert what is just.
13 Quale altro constituì sopra la terra? ovver quale pose sopra lo mondo, lo quale elli fabbricò?	13 Did someone else entrust the world to his care was he given charge of the universe by someoneelse?
14 Se dirizzerà a lui lo suo cuore, lo spirito suo e lo fiato a sè trarrà.	14 If he were to recal his spirit, to concentrate his breath back in himself,
15 Verrà meno tutta la carne insieme, e l' uomo nella cenere ritornerà.	15 all flesh would instantly perish and al people would return to dust.
16 Adunque se tu hai intelletto, odi quello che si dice, e ascolta la voce del mio parlare.	16 If you have any intel igence, listen to this, lend your ear to the sound of my words.
17 Colui che non ama lo giudicio, puote egli essere sanato? e come tu quello che è giusto, intanto lo condanni?	17 Could an enemy of fair judgement ever govern? Would you dare condemn the Upright One, theAlmighty,
18 Il quale dice allo re, partito dalla legge; lo qual chiama li duchi, malvagi;	18 who says to a king, 'You are a scoundrel!' and to nobles, 'You are wicked!',
19 lo quale non riceve le persone de' principi; nè non conosce lo tiranno, quando contende contro al povero; certo tutti quanti sono lavorìo delle sue mani.	19 who is unimpressed by princes and makes no distinction between rich and poor, since al alike havebeen made by him?
20 Subito morranno; e nella mezza notte li popoli saranno turbati, e trapasseranno, e porterannone la forza sanza mani.	20 They die suddenly, at dead of night, they perish -- these great ones -- and disappear: it costs him noeffort to remove a tyrant.
21 E gli occhii suoi sopra le vie degli uomini; e tutti gli andamenti loro considera.	21 For his eyes keep watch on human ways, and he observes every step.
22 Non sono le tenebre, e non è l'ombra della morte, chè si nascondano quivi coloro che adòperano la iniquitade.	22 No darkness, no shadow dark as death where wrong-doers can hide!
23 Nè più oltre è nella signorìa dell' uomo, (accid) ch' elli venga a Dio nel giudicio.	23 He serves no writ on anyone, no summons to appear before God's court:
24 Triterà molti e senza numero, e farà stare altri per loro.	24 he breaks the powerful without enquiry and sets up others in their places.
25 Per ch' egli ha conosciute l'opere loro; ed impercioe inducerae la notte, e fieno distrutti.	25 He knows the sort of things they do! He overthrows them at night, to be trampled on.
26 Quasi come malvagi percosse loro nelli luoghi delli videnti.	26 He beats them like criminals chained up for al to see,
27 I quali quasi della loro industria si partirono da lui, e tutte le sue vie non volleno intendere;	27 since they have turned their backs on him, having understood so little of his ways
28 acciò ch' elli faccino pervenire a lui lo grido dello bisognoso, e udire la voce de' poveri.	28 as to make the cries of the weak rise to him and let him hear the appeal of the afflicted.
29 Adunque, elli concedente pace, chi è che lo condanni? e quando nascondesse lo volto, chi è che contemplasse lui e sopra le genti e sopra ogni uomo?	29 But if he is stil silent and no one can move him, if he veils his face, so that no one can see him, he istaking pity on nations and individuals,
30 Il quale fae regnare l' uomo ipocrita per li peccati del popolo.	30 is setting some wrong-doer free from the meshes of affliction.
31 Adunque, per ch' io favellai al Signore, ancora non ti contraddirò se tu vorrai parlare.	31 When such a one says to God, 'I was misled, I shal not do wrong any more;
32 Se io errai, insegna a me; se io dissi cosa iniqua, più oltre non aggiugnerò.	32 although I have sinned, instruct me; although I did wrong, I will not do it again,'
33 Or non la cerca Iddio da te, perciò che la dispiace a te? In verità tu cominciasti a favellare, e non io; e se tu alcuna cosa conoscesti migliore, favella.	33 in your opinion, should he punish such a one -- you who have rejected his decisions? This is for youto decide -- not for me!- so kindly enlighten us!
34 Gli uomini intendenti favellino a me, e l' uomo savio oda me.	34 Ordinary sensible people, however, wil say to me, and so wil any sage who has been listening tome,
35 E Iob stoltamente hae favellato; le parole sue non suonano disciplina.	35 'Job's words are spoken without any knowledge, what he says shows no intel igence.
36 Padre mio, provisi Iob insino alla fine; non cessare di flagellare l' uomo iniquo,	36 Kindly examine him thoroughly, since his answers imply that he is a criminal.
37 il quale aggiugne sopra li peccati la blasfemia; ancora intra noi sia costretto; e allora provochi Iddio con suoi sermoni.	37 For to his sin he now adds rebellion, bringing law to an end among us and heaping abuse on God.'
