1 Giunto il giorno della Pentecoste stavano tutti insieme nel medesimo luogo,	1 When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together.
2 e all'improvviso venne dal cielo un rumore come di vento impetuoso e riempì tutta la casa dove si trovavano.	2 And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were.
3 Ed apparvero ad essi, distinte, delle lingue come di fuoco, e se ne posò una su ciascuno di loro:	3 Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them.
4 e furono tutti ripieni di Spirito Santo e cominciarono a parlare vari linguaggi secondo che lo Spirito Santo dava loro di esprimersi.	4 And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
5 Or, fra gli ebrei residenti a Gerusalemme, c'eran persone pie d'ogni nazione sotto il cielo.	5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.
6 Essendo venuto quel rumore, concorso la moltitudine, e rimase sba­lordita, sentendoli ciascuno parlare nella sua propria lingua.	6 At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
7 E ne stupivan tutti e ne facevan le maraviglie, dicendo: Ecco, questi che parlano non sono tutti Galilei?	7 They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?
8 Come va che ognuno di noi li udiamo parlare nel nostro linguaggio natio?	8 Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language?
9 Parti, Medi ed Elamiti, abitanti della Mesopotamia e della Giudea, della Cappadocia, del Ponto e dell'Asia,	9 We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10 della Frigia, della Panfilia, dell'Egitto e dei paesi della Libia che è intorno a Cirene, e avventizi Romani,	10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome,
11 intanto i Giudei che i proseliti, Cretesi ed Arabi, li abbiamo uditi parlare nelle nostre lingue delle grandezze di Dio.	11 both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God."
12 E tutti ne stupivan ed eran pieni di maraviglia, dicendo: Che vuol essere questo?	12 They were all astounded and bewildered, and said to one another, "What does this mean?"
13 Altri poi, facendosene beffe, dicevano: Ei son pieni di vin dolce.	13 But others said, scoffing, "They have had too much new wine."
14 Ma Pietro, levatosi su con gli altri undici, alzò la voce e disse loro: Uomini di Giudea, e voi tutti che abitate in Gerusalemme, siavi noto questo, e date ascolto alle mie parole.	14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them, "You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15 Costoro certo non sono briachi, come voi pensate, non essendo che la terza ora del giorno.	15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning.
16 Avviene invece quello che fu detto dal profeta Gioele:	16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
17 E avverrà negli ultimi giorni (dice il Signore) che io diffonderò il mio Spirito sopra tutti gli uomini, e i vostri figli e le vostre figlie profeteranno, i vostri giovani avranno delle visioni ed i vostri vecchi dei sogni.	17 'It will come to pass in the last days,' God says, 'that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.
18 E sopra i miei servi e sopra le mie serve diffonderò il mio Spirito, in quei giorni, e profeteranno.	18 Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.
19 E farò prodigi su in cielo e segni giù in terra, sangue e fuoco e vortici di fumo.	19 And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below: blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke.
20 Il sole si cangerà in tenebre e la luna in sangue, prima che venga il giorno grande e glorioso del Signore.	20 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord,
21 Allora chiunque avrà invocato il nome del Signore sarà salvo.	21 and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.'
22 Israeliti, ascoltate queste parole: Gesù Nazzareno, uomo approvato da Dio tra voi, con opere potenti e prodigi e segni, che Dio fece per lui in mezzo a voi, come voi stessi sapete,	22 You who are Israelites, hear these words. Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.
23 essendo stato per determinato consiglio e prescienza divina dato nelle vostre mani voi l'avete fatto morire crocifìggendolo per mano di empi;	23 This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.
24 ma Dio l'ha risuscitato infranti i legami dolorosi della morte, essendo impossibile che ne fosse ritenuto,	24 But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it.
25 infatti David dice di lui: Ho avuto presente il Signore sempre nel mio cospetto essendo egli alla mia destra affinchè io non tremi.	25 For David says of him: 'I saw the Lord ever before me, with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.
26 Per questo si è rallegrato il mio cuore e la mia lingua ha giubilato ed anche il mio corpo riposerà nella speranza;	26 Therefore my heart has been glad and my tongue has exulted; my flesh, too, will dwell in hope,
27 perchè tu non lascerai l'anima mia nell'inferno e non permetterai che il tuo Santo vegga la corruzione.	27 because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld, nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption.
28 M'hai rese note le vie della vita e mi ricolmerai di gloria colla tua presenza.	28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'
29 Fratelli, sia lecito di dirvi liberamente del patriarca David che morì e fu sepolto e la sua tomba è anche al presente presso di noi;	29 My brothers, one can confidently say to you about the patriarch David that he died and was buried, and his tomb is in our midst to this day.
30 ma essendo egli profeta o sapendo che Dio gli aveva promesso con giuramento di far sedere uno della sua stirpe sul suo trono,	30 But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,
31 profetando della risurrezione di Cristo, disse che egli non sarebbe stato lasciato nella morte e che la sua carne non avrebbe visto la corruzione.	31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that neither was he abandoned to the netherworld nor did his flesh see corruption.
32 Questo Gesù, Dio l'ha risuscitato e noi tutti ne siamo testimoni.	32 God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses.
33 Esaltato egli dunque alla destra di Dio, e ricevuta dal Padre promessa dello Spirito Santo, l'ha diffuso, come voi vedete e udite.	33 Exalted at the right hand of God, he received the promise of the holy Spirit from the Father and poured it forth, as you (both) see and hear.
34 Certamente David non salì al cielo; eppure egli disse: Ha detto il Signore al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,	34 For David did not go up into heaven, but he himself said: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand
35 sinchè non abbia posto i tuoi nemici a sgabello dei tuoi piedi.	35 until I make your enemies your footstool."'
36 Sappia dunque sicuramente tutta la casa d'Israele che Dio ha costituito Signore e Cristo questo Gesù che voi avete crocifisso.	36 Therefore let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified."
37 Udite queste parole, si compunsero di cuore e dissero a Pietro e agli altri Apostoli: Che dobbiamo fare, fratelli?	37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, "What are we to do, my brothers?"
38 E Pietro disse loro: Fate penitenza, e ciascuno di voi si faccia battezzare nel nome di Gesù Cristo in remissione dei vostri peccati e riceverete il dono dello Spirito Santo.	38 Peter (said) to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit.
39 Perchè la promessa è per voi e per i vostri figlioli, e per tutti i lontani, quanti ne chiamerà il Signore Iddio nostro.	39 For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call."
40 E con altre moltissime parole li scongiurava e li esortava dicendo: Salvatevi da questa generazione perversa.	40 He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."
41 Quelli adunque che accolsero la sua parola furono battezzati; e si aggiunsero in quel giorno circa tremila anime.	41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.
42 Ed erano assidui all'istruzione degli Apostoli, nell'unione, nella frazione del pane e nelle preghiere.	42 They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.
43 E tutta la gente era in apprensione, e molti prodigi e segni si facevano dagli Apostoli in Gerusalemme, e tutti stavano in gran timore.	43 Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
44 E tutti i credenti stavano insieme ed avevano tutto in comune.	44 All who believed were together and had all things in common;
45 Vendevano le possessioni ed i beni e ne distribuivano il ricavato a tutti, secondo il bisogno di ciascuno.	45 they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one's need.
46 Ed ogni giorno di comune accordo erano assidui al tempio, e spezzando il pane nelle case, prendevano cibo con gioia e semplicità di cuore,	46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart,
47 lodando Dio, ben veduti da tutto il popolo. Il Signore poi aggiungeva a questi quelli che dovevano essere salvi.	47 praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
