1 All'uomo di dura cervice che disprezza chi lo corregge, piomberà addosso all'improvviso la rovina, e non ci sarà rimedio per lui.	1 The man who remains stiff-necked and hates rebuke will be crushed suddenly beyond cure.
2 Quando i giusti si moltiplicano, il popolo si rallegra, quando salgono al potere gli empi il popolo geme.	2 When the just prevail, the people rejoice; but when the wicked rule, the people groan.
3 L'uomo che ama la sapienza dà consolazioni a suo padre, ma chi mantiene le meretrici rovinerà il patrimonio.	3 He who loves wisdom makes his father glad, but he who consorts with harlots squanders his wealth.
4 Il re giusto rialza lo stato, l'uomo avaro lo distrugge.	4 By justice a king gives stability to the land; but he who imposes heavy taxes ruins it.
5 L'uomo che parla al suo amico con adulazioni e fintaggini tende una rete ai piedi di lui.	5 The man who flatters his neighbor is spreading a net under his feet.
6 L'uomo peccatore e iniquo cadrà nel laccio, e il giusto canterà e farà festa.	6 The wicked man steps into a snare, but the just man runs on joyfully.
7 Il giusto conosce la causa dei poveri, l'empio non ne capisce niente.	7 The just man has a care for the rights of the poor; the wicked man has no such concern.
8 Gli uomini corrotti distruggon la città, invece i sapienti la, salvan dall'ira.	8 Arrogant men set the city ablaze, but wise men calm the fury.
9 L'uomo sapiente se viene a contesa con lo stolto, o che s'arrabbi o che rida, non avrà pace,	9 If a wise man disputes with a fool, he may rage or laugh but can have no peace.
10 Gli uomini sanguinari odiano l'uomo integro, i giusti invece ne cercano la salvezza.	10 Bloodthirsty men hate the honest man, but the upright show concern for his life.
11 Lo stolto sfoga tutto il suo animo, il saggio aspetta e riserva all'avvenire.	11 The fool gives vent to all his anger; but by biding his time, the wise man calms it.
12 Il principe che ascolta volentieri le menzogne ha ministri tutti malvagi.	12 If a ruler listens to lying words, his servants all become wicked.
13 Il povero e il creditore si vanno incontro, il Signore ha data la luce a tutti e due.	13 The poor and the oppressor have a common bond: the LORD gives light to the eyes of both.
14 Il re che con lealtà rende giustizia ai poveri avrà stabile il suo trono in eterno.	14 If a king is zealous for the rights of the poor, his throne stands firm forever.
15 La verga e la correzione danno saggezza; ma il fanciullo abbandonato ai suoi capricci fa vergogna a sua madre.	15 The rod of correction gives wisdom, but a boy left to his whims disgraces his mother.
16 Moltiplicandosi gli empi, si moltiplicano i delitti, e i giusti ne vedranno le rovine.	16 When the wicked prevail, crime increases; but their downfall the just will behold.
17 Educa tuo figlio e ti sarà di consolazione, sarà la delizia dell'anima tua.	17 Correct your son, and he will bring you comfort, and give delight to your soul.
18 Quando la profezia verrà meno, il popolo sarà dissipato, ma è beato chi osserva la legge.	18 Without prophecy the people become demoralized; but happy is he who keeps the law.
19 Il servo non si può educare a parole, perchè comprende quanto dici, ma sdegna rispondere.	19 By words no servant can be trained; for he understands what is said, but obeys not.
20 Hai tu visto un uomo precipitoso nel parlare? C'è da sperare più l'emendamento della follìa che il suo.	20 Do you see a man hasty in his words? More can be hoped for from a fool!
21 Chi alleva delicatamente fin dall'infanzia il suo servo, poi se lo ritroverà ribelle.	21 If a man pampers his servant from childhood, he will turn out to be stubborn.
22 L'uomo iracondo provoca le risse, chi è facile ad arrabbiarsi sarà molto proclive a peccare.	22 An ill-tempered man stirs up disputes, and a hotheaded man is the cause of many sins.
23 L'umiliazione segue il superbo, e la gloria abbraccerà l'umile di cuore.	23 Man's pride causes his humiliation, but he who is humble of spirit obtains honor.
24 Chi s'associa al ladro odia la sua anima, sente chi lo scongiura e non palesa.	24 The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy: he hears himself put under a curse, yet discloses nothing.
25 Chi ha paura dell'uomo cadrà ben presto, chi spera nel Signore sarà esaltato.	25 The fear of man brings a snare, but he who trusts in the LORD is safe.
26 Molti cercano il favore del principe, ma dal Signore verrà il giudizio di ciascuno di noi.	26 Many curry favor with the ruler, but the rights of each are from the LORD.
27 I giusti hanno in abbonimio gli empi, gli empi hanno in abbominio quelli che son nella retta strada. Il figlio che mette in pratica la parola sarà sicuro dalla perdizione.	27 The evildoer is an abomination to the just, and he who walks uprightly is an abomination to the wicked.
