1 (Laude a cantico. Di David). Chi riposa nell'aiuto dell'Altissimo vivrà sotto la protezione del Dio del cielo.	1 A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, you have been our refuge through all generations.
2 Dirà al Signore: « Tu sei il mio protettore, il mio rifugio. E' il mio Dio: in lui la mia speranza.	2 Before the mountains were born, the earth and the world brought forth, from eternity to eternity you are God.
3 Egli mi liberò dal laccio dei cacciatori e dalle aspre parole ».	3 But humans you return to dust, saying, "Return, you mortals!"
4 Ti coprirà colle sue ali e sotto le sue penne troverai rifugio.	4 A thousand years in your eyes are merely a yesterday,
5 La sua verità ti circonderà come scudo, non temerai i notturni spaventi,	5 you have brought them to their end; They disappear like sleep at dawn; they are like grass that dies.
6 Nè saetta che vola di giorno, nè male che s'insinua fra le tenebre, nè assalto del demonio del mezzogiorno.	6 It sprouts green in the morning; by evening it is dry and withered.
7 Ne cadran mille al tuo fianco e dieci mila alla tua destra, ma a te non s'avvicineranno.	7 Truly we are consumed by your anger, filled with terror by your wrath.
8 Però guardando coi tuoi propri occhi vedrai il castigo che tocca ai peccatori.	8 You have kept our faults before you, our hidden sins exposed to your sight.
9 « O Signore, tu sei la mia speranza »: hai preso l'Altissimo a tuo rifugio.	9 Our life ebbs away under your wrath; our years end like a sigh.
10 Non si avvicinerà a te il male, e il flagello non si accosterà alla tua tenda;	10 Seventy is the sum of our years, or eighty, if we are strong; Most of them are sorrow and toil; they pass quickly, we are all but gone.
11 Perché ai suoi angeli ha dato per te quest'ordine: di custodirti in tutte le tue vie:	11 Who comprehends your terrible anger? Your wrath matches the fear it inspires.
12 Ti porteranno sulle loro palme, affinchè il tuo piede non inciampi nei sassi.	12 Teach us to count our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart.
13 Camminerai sopra l'aspide e il basilisco e calpesterai il leone e il dragone.	13 Relent, O LORD! How long? Have pity on your servants!
14 Perché ha sperato in me, lo libererò, lo proteggerò; perchè ha conosciuto il mio nome.	14 Fill us at daybreak with your love, that all our days we may sing for joy.
15 Alzerà a me la voce, ed io lo esaudirò, con lui sono nella tribolazione, lo libererò e lo glorificherò.	15 Make us glad as many days as you humbled us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 Lo sazierò con lunga vita e gli farò vederti la mia salvezza ».	16 Show your deeds to your servants, your glory to their children.
	17 May the favor of the Lord our God be ours. Prosper the work of our hands! Prosper the work of our hands!
