1 Or avvenne in quel tempo che Amrafel re di Sennaar, e Arioc re di Ponto, e Codorlaomor re degli Elamiti, e Tadal re delle Genti	1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
2 mossero guerra a Bara re di Sodoma, a Bersa re di Gomorra, a Sennaab re di Adama, a Semeber re di Seboim e al re di Baia o Segor.	2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
3 Tutti questi si radunarono nella valle dei Boschi, che ora è il mar del sale.	3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
4 Per dodici anni erano stati soggetti a Codorlaomor, e il decimoterzo si erano ribellati.	4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
5 Perciò nel decimoquarto anno Codorlaomor e i re che si erano uniti con lui vennero e sbaragliarono i Befaim ad Astarot-Carnaim, e gli Zuzim con essi, e gli Emim a Save-Cariataim,	5 And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaims in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emims in Shaveh Kiriathaim,
6 e i Correi nei monti di Seir, fino alle campagne di Faran che è nel deserto.	6 And the Horites in their mount Seir, unto El-paran, which is by the wilderness.
7 Tornando poi indietro, giunsero alla fontana di Misfat, ossia Cades, e devastarono tutte le terre degli Amaleciti e degli Amorrei che abitavano in Asason-Tamar.	7 And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites that dwelt in Hazezon-tamar.
8 Allora il re di Sodoma, il re di Gomorra, il re di Adama, e il re di Seboim e il re di Baia, o Segor, si mossero e si schierarono a battaglia nella valle dei Boschi contro di loro,	8 And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
9 cioè contro Codorlaomor ré degli Elamiti, Tadal re delle Genti, Amrafel re di Sennaar, e Arioc re di Ponto: quattro re contro cinque.	9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
10 Or la valle dei Boschi aveva molti pozzi di bitume, e i re di Sodoma e di Gomorra si diedero alla fuga e vi caddero dentro, e quelli che si salvarono fuggirono alla montagna.	10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
11 E (i vincitori) presero tutte le ricchezze di Sodoma e di Gomorra e tutti i viveri, e se ne andarono;	11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
12 presero anche Lot, figlio del fratello di Abramo, che abitava in Sodoma, e tutte le sue sostanze.	12 And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
13 Ed uno degli scampati raccontò l'accaduto ad Abramo Ebreo, che abitava nella valle di Mambre Amorreo, fratello di Escol e di Aner, i quali s'eran confederati con Abramo.	13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eschol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
14 E Abramo, come ebbe sentito che Lot suo fratello era stato fatto prigioniero, scelse trecentodiciotto tra i migliori servi nati in casa, e inseguì (i nemici) fino a Dan.	14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
15 E, divise le schiere, li assalì di notte tempo, e li sbaragliò, e l'inseguì fino ad Hoba, che è a sinistra di Damasco.	15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
16 E ricuperò tutta la roba, e Lot suo fratello con tutto ciò che gli apparteneva, e anche le donne e il popolo.	16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
17 E quando egli tornò dalla sconfitta di Codorlaomor e dei re che erano con lui, il re di Sodoma gli andò incontro nella valle di Save, che è la valle del re.	17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
18 E Melchisedec re di Salern, offrendo del pane e del vino, chè era sacerdote dell'Altissimo Dio,	18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
19 lo benedisse, dicendo: «Benedetto sia Abramo dall'Altissimo Iddio che creò il cielo e la terra,	19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 e benedetto l'Altissimo Dio, per la cui protezione i nemici sono caduti in tuo potere ». E Abramo gli diede la decima di tutto.	20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
21 E il re di Sodoma disse ad Abramo: « Dammi le persone e prendi per te il resto ».	21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
22 Ma Abramo gli rispose: « Alzo la mia mano al Signore Dio Altissimo, padrone del cielo e della terra;	22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
23 di ciò che è tuo non prenderò nè un fil di trama, nè un legaccio di sandali, perchè tu non abbia a dire poi: « Ho arricchito Abramo ».	23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
24 Nulla, tolto quello che hanno mangiato i giovani e le porzioni degli uomini che son venuti meco: Aner, Escol e Mambre: prendano essi la loro parte ».	24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
