Psalms 57

1 Unto the end. May you not destroy. Of David, with the inscription of a title.	1 - Al corifeo: «Non mandare in malora!». Di David. Ode.
2 If, truly and certainly, you speak justice, then judge what is right, you sons of men.	2 Parlate voi davvero con giustizia? giudicate voi con rettitudine, o figliuoli degli uomini?
3 For, even in your heart, you work iniquity. Your hands construct injustice on the earth.	3 [Mai più!] Giacchè in cuor vostro operate iniquità, nel paese le vostre mani tramano ingiustizie.
4 Sinners have become foreigners from the womb; they have gone astray from conception. They have been speaking falsehoods.	4 Traviati son gli empi sin dal seno materno, aberran sin dall'utero, dicono il falso.
5 Their fury is similar to that of a serpent; it is like a deaf asp, who even blocks her ears,	5 Han veleno a somiglianza della serpe, [son] come una vipera sorda, che si tappa, gli orecchi,
6 who will not listen to the voice of charmers, nor even to the enchanter who chants wisely.	6 che non vuole udir la voce degl'incantatorie del mago sapiente in incantesimi.
7 God will crush their teeth within their own mouth. The Lord will break the molars of the lions.	7 Iddio stritoli loro i denti in bocca, le mascelle de' leoni spezzi il Signore.
8 They will come to nothing, like water flowing away. He has aimed his bow, while they are being weakened.	8 Si dileguino come acqua che scorre: tenda l'arco [Iddio] sino a che stramazzino.
9 Like wax that flows, they will be carried away. Fire has fallen upon them, and they will not see the sun.	9 Come cera, chi si strugge, scompaiano: cada il fuoco su [loro] e non vedan [più] il sole!
10 Before your thorns could know the brier, he consumes them alive, as if in rage.	10 Prima che le vostre caldaie sentano il [calore del] pruno, verde ancora o bruciato lo spazzi via con ira [Iddio] in un turbine.
11 The just one will rejoice when he sees vindication. He will wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.	11 S'allieterà il giusto quando vedrà la vendetta, le sue mani laverà nel sangue dell'empio.
12 And man will say, “If the just one is fruitful, then, truly, there is a God judging them on earth.”	12 E dirà [ogni] uomo: «Sì, v'ha frutto per il giusto, sì, c'è un Dio che giudica sulla terra!».
