1 Vanas y engañosas son las esperanzas del insensato, y los sueños dan alas a los necios.	1 Empty and false are the hopes of the senseless, and fools are borne aloft by dreams.
2 Tratar de asir una sombra o correr detrás del viento es dar crédito a los sueños.	2 Like a man who catches at shadows or chases the wind, is the one who believes in dreams.
3 Las visiones de los sueños no son más que un espejismo: un rostro ante el reflejo de su propia imagen.	3 What is seen in dreams is to reality what the reflection of a face is to the face itself.
4 ¿Puede sacarse algo puro de lo impuro o de la mentira puede salir la verdad?	4 Can the unclean produce the clean? can the liar ever speak the truth?
5 Adivinaciones, augurios y sueños son cosas vanas, puras fantasías, como las de una parturienta.	5 Divination, omens and dreams all are unreal; what you already expect, the mind depicts.
6 A no ser que los envíe el Altísimo en una visita, no les prestes ninguna atención.	6 Unless it be a vision specially sent by the Most High, fix not your heart on it;
7 Porque los sueños han extraviado a muchos que cayeron por esperar en ellos.	7 For dreams have led many astray, and those who believed in them have perished.
8 La Ley debe cumplirse sin falsedad, y la sabiduría expresada fielmente es perfecta.	8 The law is fulfilled without fail, and perfect wisdom is found in the mouth of the faithful man.
9 El que ha viajado mucho sabe muchas cosas, y el hombre de experiencia habla inteligentemente.	9 A man with training gains wide knowledge; a man of experience speaks sense.
10 El que no ha sido probado sabe pocas cosas, pero el que ha andado mucho adquiere gran habilidad.	10 One never put to the proof knows little, whereas with travel a man adds to his resourcefulness.
11 Yo he visto muchas cosas en el curo de mis viajes, y sé mucho más de lo que podría expresar.	11 I have seen much in my travels, learned more than ever I could say.
12 Muchas veces estuve en peligro de muerte, y gracias a todo eso escapé sano y salvo.	12 Often I was in danger of death, but by these attainments I was saved.
13 El espíritu de los que temen al Señor vivirá, porque han puesto su esperanza en aquel que los salva.	13 Lively is the courage of those who fear the LORD, for they put their hope in their savior;
14 El que teme al Señor no se intimida por nada, y no se acobarda, porque él es su esperanza.	14 He who fears the LORD is never alarmed, never afraid; for the LORD is his hope.
15 ¡Feliz el alma del que teme al Señor! ¿En quién se sostiene y cuál es su apoyo?	15 Happy the soul that fears the LORD! In whom does he trust, and who is his support?
16 Los ojos del Señor miran a aquellos que lo aman: él es escudo poderoso y apoyo seguro, refugio contra el viento abrasador y el ardor del mediodía, salvaguardia contra el tropiezo y auxilio contra la caída.	16 The eyes of the LORD are upon those who love him; he is their mighty shield and strong support, A shelter from the heat, a shade from the noonday sun, a guard against stumbling, a help against falling.
17 El levanta el ánimo e ilumina los ojos, da salud, vida y bendición.	17 He buoys up the spirits, brings a sparkle to the eyes, gives health and life and blessing.
18 Ofrecer en sacrificio el fruto de la injusticia es presentar una ofrenda defectuosa, y los dones de los impíos no son aceptados.	18 Tainted his gifts who offers in sacrifice ill-gotten goods! Mock presents from the lawless win not God's favor.
19 El Altísimo no acepta las ofrendas de los impíos, y no es por el número de víctimas que perdona los pecados.	19 The Most High approves not the gifts of the godless, nor for their many sacrifices does he forgive their sins.
20 Como inmolar a un hijo ante los ojos de su padre, es presentar una víctima con bienes quitados a los pobres.	20 Like the man who slays a son in his father's presence is he who offers sacrifice from the possessions of the poor.
21 Un mendrugo de pan es la vida de los indigentes: el que los priva de él es un sanguinario.	21 The bread of charity is life itself for the needy; he who withholds it is a man of blood.
22 Mata a su prójimo el que lo priva del sustento, derrama sangre el que retiene el salario del jornalero.	22 He slays his neighbor who deprives him of his living: he sheds blood who denies the laborer his wages.
23 Si uno edifica y otro destruye, ¿qué ganan con eso sino fatigas?	23 If one man builds up and another tears down, what do they gain but trouble?
24 Si uno suplica y otro maldice, ¿qué voz escuchará el Dueño de todo?	24 If one man prays and another curses, whose voice will the LORD hear?
25 El que vuelve a tocar a un muerto después de haberse lavado, ¿qué ha ganado con purificarse?	25 If a man again touches a corpse after he has bathed, what did he gain by the purification?
26 Así es el hombre que ayuda por sus pecados y luego vuelve a cometerlos ¿quién escuchará su plegaria y qué ha ganado con humillarse?	26 So with a man who fasts for his sins, but then goes and commits them again: Who will hear his prayer, and what has he gained by his mortification?
