Job 26

Then Job responded by saying:1 Job prit la parole et dit:
Whose assistant are you? Is he weak-minded? And do you sustain the arm of him that is not strong?2 Comme tu sais bien soutenir le faible, secourir le bras sans vigueur!
To whom have you given advice? Perhaps it is to him that has no wisdom or prudence that you have revealed your many ideas.3 Quels bons conseils tu donnes à l'ignorant, comme ton savoir est fertile en ressources!
Who is it that you wanted to teach? Was it not him that created the breath of life?4 Mais ces discours, à qui s'adressent-ils, et d'où provient l'esprit qui sort de toi?
Behold, giant things groan under the waters, and they dwell with them.5 Les Ombres tremblent sous terre, les eaux et leurs habitants sont dans l'effroi.
The underworld is naked before him, and there is no covering for perdition.6 Devant lui, le Shéol est à nu, la Perdition à découvert.
He stretched out the North over emptiness, and he suspended the land over nothing.7 C'est lui qui a étendu le Septentrion sur le vide, suspendu la terre sans appui.
He secures the waters in his clouds, so that they do not burst forth downward all at once.8 Il enferme les eaux dans ses nuages. Sans que la nuée crève sous leur poids.
He holds back the face of his throne, and he stretches his cloud over it.9 Il couvre la face de la pleine lune et déploie sur elle sa nuée.
He has set limits around the waters, until light and darkness shall reach their limit.10 Il a tracé un cercle à la surface des eaux, aux confins de la lumière et des ténèbres.
The pillars of heaven tremble and are frightened at his nod.11 Les colonnes des cieux sont ébranlées, frappées de stupeur quand il menace.
By his strength, the seas suddenly gather together, and his foresight has struck the arrogant.12 Par sa force, il a brassé la Mer, par son habileté, écrasé Rahab.
His spirit has adorned the heavens, and his birthing hand has brought forth the winding serpent.13 Son souffle a clarifié les Cieux, sa main transpercé le Serpent Fuyard.
Behold, these things have been said about his ways in part, and, since we barely have heard a small drop of his word, who will be able to gaze upon the thunder of his greatness?14 Tout cela, c'est l'extérieur de ses oeuvres, et nous n'en saisissons qu'un faible écho. Mais le tonnerrede sa puissance, qui le comprendra?
