NEW AMERICAN BIBLEGREEK BIBLE
Come to our aid, O God of the universe, and put all the nations in dread of you!1 ελεησον ημας δεσποτα ο θεος παντων και επιβλεψον και επιβαλε τον φοβον σου επι παντα τα εθνη
Raise your hand against the heathen, that they may realize your power.2 επαρον την χειρα σου επι εθνη αλλοτρια και ιδετωσαν την δυναστειαν σου
As you have used us to show them your holiness, so now use them to show us your glory.3 ωσπερ ενωπιον αυτων ηγιασθης εν ημιν ουτως ενωπιον ημων μεγαλυνθειης εν αυτοις
Thus they will know, as we know, that there is no God but you.4 και επιγνωτωσαν σε καθαπερ και ημεις επεγνωμεν οτι ουκ εστιν θεος πλην σου κυριε
Give new signs and work new wonders; show forth the splendor of your right hand and arm;5 εγκαινισον σημεια και αλλοιωσον θαυμασια δοξασον χειρα και βραχιονα δεξιον
Rouse your anger, pour out wrath, humble the enemy, scatter the foe.6 εγειρον θυμον και εκχεον οργην εξαρον αντιδικον και εκτριψον εχθρον
Hasten the day, bring on the time;7 σπευσον καιρον και μνησθητι ορκισμου και εκδιηγησασθωσαν τα μεγαλεια σου
Let raging fire consume the fugitive, and your people's oppressors meet destruction.8 εν οργη πυρος καταβρωθητω ο σωζομενος και οι κακουντες τον λαον σου ευροισαν απωλειαν
crush the heads of the hostile rulers.9 συντριψον κεφαλας αρχοντων εχθρων λεγοντων ουκ εστιν πλην ημων
Gather all the tribes of Jacob, that they may inherit the land as of old,10 συναγαγε πασας φυλας ιακωβ και κατακληρονομησον αυτους καθως απ' αρχης
Show mercy to the people called by your name; Israel, whom you named your first-born.11 ελεησον λαον κυριε κεκλημενον επ' ονοματι σου και ισραηλ ον πρωτογονω ωμοιωσας
Take pity on your holy city, Jerusalem, your dwelling place.12 οικτιρησον πολιν αγιασματος σου ιερουσαλημ τοπον καταπαυματος σου
Fill Zion with your majesty, your temple with your glory.13 πλησον σιων αρεταλογιας σου και απο της δοξης σου τον λαον σου
Give evidence of your deeds of old; fulfill the prophecies spoken in your name,14 δος μαρτυριον τοις εν αρχη κτισμασιν σου και εγειρον προφητειας τας επ' ονοματι σου
Reward those who have hoped in you, and let your prophets be proved true.15 δος μισθον τοις υπομενουσιν σε και οι προφηται σου εμπιστευθητωσαν
Hear the prayer of your servants, for you are ever gracious to your people;16 εισακουσον κυριε δεησεως των ικετων σου κατα την ευλογιαν ααρων περι του λαου σου
Thus it will be known to the very ends of the earth that you are the eternal God.17 και γνωσονται παντες οι επι της γης οτι κυριος ει ο θεος των αιωνων
The throat can swallow any food, yet some foods are more agreeable than others;18 παν βρωμα φαγεται κοιλια εστιν δε βρωμα βρωματος καλλιον
As the palate tests meat by its savor, so does a keen mind insincere words.19 φαρυγξ γευεται βρωματα θηρας ουτως καρδια συνετη λογους ψευδεις
A deceitful character causes grief, but an experienced man can turn the tables on him.20 καρδια στρεβλη δωσει λυπην και ανθρωπος πολυπειρος ανταποδωσει αυτω
Though any man may be accepted as a husband, yet one girl will be more suitable than another:21 παντα αρρενα επιδεξεται γυνη εστιν δε θυγατηρ θυγατρος κρεισσων
A woman's beauty makes her husband's face light up, for it surpasses all else that charms the eye;22 καλλος γυναικος ιλαρυνει προσωπον και υπερ πασαν επιθυμιαν ανθρωπου υπεραγει
And if, besides, her speech is kindly, his lot is beyond that of mortal men.23 ει εστιν επι γλωσσης αυτης ελεος και πραυτης ουκ εστιν ο ανηρ αυτης καθ' υιους ανθρωπων
A wife is her husband's richest treasure, a helpmate, a steadying column.24 ο κτωμενος γυναικα εναρχεται κτησεως βοηθον κατ' αυτον και στυλον αναπαυσεως
A vineyard with no hedge will be overrun; a man with no wife becomes a homeless wanderer.25 ου ουκ εστιν φραγμος διαρπαγησεται κτημα και ου ουκ εστιν γυνη στεναξει πλανωμενος
Who will trust an armed band that shifts from city to city?26 τις γαρ πιστευσει ευζωνω ληστη αφαλλομενω εκ πολεως εις πολιν
Or a man who has no nest, but lodges where night overtakes him?27 ουτως ανθρωπω μη εχοντι νοσσιαν και καταλυοντι ου εαν οψιση
