Proverbi 31

1 Parole del re Lamuele. Profezia, colla quale lo istruì la sua madre.	1 The words of king Lamuel. The vision by which his mother instructed him:
2 E che, o mio diletto? e che, o caro frutto del mio seno? e che, o amato oggetto de' voti miei?	2 “What, O my beloved? What, O beloved of my womb? What, O beloved of my vows?
3 Non consumare il tuo bene nelle donne, nè le tue ricchezze in quello che fa lo sterminio dei re.	3 Do not give your substance to women, or your riches to overthrow kings.
4 Non permettere ai re, o Lamuele, non permettere il vino: perocché dove regna ebbrezza, non v'è segreto:	4 Not to kings, O Lamuel, not to kings give wine. For there are no secrets where drunkenness reigns.
5 E perché dopo aver bevuto non si scordino di far giustizia, e non tradiscano la causa de' figliuoli del povero.	5 And perhaps they may drink and forget judgments, and alter the case of the sons of the poor.
6 Date la sicera agli afflitti, e il vino a quelli, che hanno il cuore amareggiato:	6 Give strong drink to the grieving, and wine to those who are bitter in soul.
7 Questi bevano, e si scordino di lor miseria, e non abbiano più memoria del lor dolore.	7 Let them drink, and forget their needs, and remember their sorrow no more.
8 Apri tu la tua bocca in favore del mutolo, e a difesa di tutti i passeggeri:	8 Open your mouth for the mute and for all the cases of the sons who are passing through.
9 Apri la tua bocca, ordina quello che è giusto, e rendi ragione al meschinello, ed al povero.	9 Open your mouth, declare what is just, and do justice to the indigent and the poor.
10 Chi troverà una donna forte? il pregio di lei è come delle cose portate di lontano, e dalle estremità della terra.	10 Who shall find a strong woman? Far away, and from the furthest parts, is her price.
11 In lei riposa il cuor del suo sposo, il quale non avrà bisogno di proccurarsi bottino.	11 The heart of her husband confides in her, and he will not be deprived of spoils.
12 Ella del bene darà a lui, e non del male, per tutti i giorni che durerà la sua vita.	12 She will repay him with good, and not evil, all the days of her life.
13 Ella si proccura della lana, e del lino, e lo mette in opra colla perizia delle sue mani.	13 She has sought wool and flax, and she has worked these by the counsel of her hands.
14 Ella o simile alla nave di un mercatante, la quale porta da lungi il suo sostentamento.	14 She has become like a merchant’s ship, bringing her bread from far away.
15 Ella si alza, che è ancor notte, e distribuisce il vitto alla gente di casa, e il mangiare alle sue serve.	15 And she has risen in the night, and given a prey to her household, and provisions to her maids.
16 Pose gli occhi sopra un podere, e io comperò; del guadagno delle sue mani piantovvi una vigna.	16 She has considered a field and bought it. From the fruit of her own hands, she has planted a vineyard.
17 Ella si cinge di fortezza i suoi fianchi, e fa robusto il suo braccio.	17 She has wrapped her waist with fortitude, and she has strengthened her arm.
18 Ella provò, e vide come il suo negozio le frutta: la sua lacerna non si spegne la notte.	18 She has tasted and seen that her tasks are good; her lamp shall not be extinguished at night.
19 Ella a forti cose stende la mano: le sue dita maneggiano il fuso.	19 She has put her hand to strong things, and her fingers have taken hold of the spindle.
20 Apre la mano ai miserabili, e stende le palme ai poverelli.	20 She has opened her hand to the needy, and she has extended her hands to the poor.
21 Non teme per que' di sua casa il freddo, o la neve; perché tutti i suoi domestici han doppia veste.	21 She shall not fear, in the cold of snow, for her household. For all those of her household have been clothed two-fold.
22 Ella si fa dei tappeti di varj colori: il suo abito è di bisso, e di porpora.	22 She has made embroidered clothing for herself. Fine linen and purple is her garment.
23 Bella figura farà il suo sposo alle porte assise trai senatori del luogo.	23 Her husband is noble at the gates, when he sits among the senators of the land.
24 Fabbrica fine vesti di lino, e le vende, e da ai Cananei mercatanti delle cinture.	24 She has made finely woven cloth and sold it, and she has delivered a waistband to the Canaanite.
25 Ella si ammanta di fortezza, e di decoro, e sarà lieta negli ultimi giorni.	25 Strength and elegance are her clothing, and she will laugh in the final days.
26 Con saggezza apre ella la sua bocca, e la legge della bontà governa sua lingua.	26 She has opened her mouth to wisdom, and the law of clemency is on her tongue.
27 Sta attenta agli andamenti di sua gente, e il pane non mangia nell'ozio.	27 She has considered the paths of her household, and she has not eaten her bread in idleness.
28 Sorgono i figli di lei, e la annunziano per sommamente beata; il suo marito, e le dà lode.	28 Her sons rose up and predicted great happiness; her husband rose up and praised her.
29 Molte son le fanciulle, che hanno adunate delle ricchezze: tu le hai superate tutte quante.	29 Many daughters have gathered together riches; you have surpassed them all.
30 Fallace è l'avvenenza, ed è vana la beltà: la donna, che teme il Signore sarà quella, che avrà lode.	30 Charm is false, and beauty is vain. The woman who fears the Lord, the same shall be praised.
31 Date a lei de' frutti delle sue mani, e lo opere sue la celebrino alle porte.	31 Give to her from the fruit of her own hands. And let her works praise her at the gates.
