Proverbs 15

1 A mild response shatters anger. But a harsh word stirs up fury.	1 οργη απολλυσιν και φρονιμους αποκρισις δε υποπιπτουσα αποστρεφει θυμον λογος δε λυπηρος εγειρει οργας
2 The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge. But the mouth of the senseless gushes with foolishness.	2 γλωσσα σοφων καλα επισταται στομα δε αφρονων αναγγελει κακα
3 In every place, the eyes of the Lord consider good and evil.	3 εν παντι τοπω οφθαλμοι κυριου σκοπευουσιν κακους τε και αγαθους
4 A peaceful tongue is a tree of life. But that which is immoderate will crush the spirit.	4 ιασις γλωσσης δενδρον ζωης ο δε συντηρων αυτην πλησθησεται πνευματος
5 A fool laughs at the discipline of his father. But whoever preserves rebukes will become astute. In abundant justice, there is very great virtue. But the intentions of the impious will be eradicated.	5 αφρων μυκτηριζει παιδειαν πατρος ο δε φυλασσων εντολας πανουργοτερος
6 The house of the just has very great strength. And in the fruits of the impious, there is disorder.	6 εν πλεοναζουση δικαιοσυνη ισχυς πολλη οι δε ασεβεις ολορριζοι εκ γης ολουνται οικοις δικαιων ισχυς πολλη καρποι δε ασεβων απολουνται
7 The lips of the wise shall disseminate knowledge. The heart of the foolish will be dissimilar.	7 χειλη σοφων δεδεται αισθησει καρδιαι δε αφρονων ουκ ασφαλεις
8 The sacrifices of the impious are abominable to the Lord. The vows of the just are appeasing.	8 θυσιαι ασεβων βδελυγμα κυριω ευχαι δε κατευθυνοντων δεκται παρ' αυτω
9 The way of the impious is an abomination to the Lord. Whoever pursues justice is loved by him.	9 βδελυγμα κυριω οδοι ασεβους διωκοντας δε δικαιοσυνην αγαπα
10 Doctrine is evil to those who abandon the way of life. Whoever hates correction shall die.	10 παιδεια ακακου γνωριζεται υπο των παριοντων οι δε μισουντες ελεγχους τελευτωσιν αισχρως
11 Hell and perdition are in the sight of the Lord. How much more the hearts of the sons of men!	11 αδης και απωλεια φανερα παρα τω κυριω πως ουχι και αι καρδιαι των ανθρωπων
12 He who corrupts himself does not love the one who afflicts him, nor will he step toward the wise.	12 ουκ αγαπησει απαιδευτος τους ελεγχοντας αυτον μετα δε σοφων ουχ ομιλησει
13 A rejoicing heart gladdens the face. But by the grief of the soul, the spirit is cast down.	13 καρδιας ευφραινομενης προσωπον θαλλει εν δε λυπαις ουσης σκυθρωπαζει
14 The heart of the wise seeks doctrine. And the mouth of the foolish feeds on ignorance.	14 καρδια ορθη ζητει αισθησιν στομα δε απαιδευτων γνωσεται κακα
15 All the days of the poor are evil. A secure mind is like a continual feast.	15 παντα τον χρονον οι οφθαλμοι των κακων προσδεχονται κακα οι δε αγαθοι ησυχαζουσιν δια παντος
16 Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, than great treasures and dissatisfaction.	16 κρεισσων μικρα μερις μετα φοβου κυριου η θησαυροι μεγαλοι μετα αφοβιας
17 It is better to be called to vegetables with charity, than to a fatted calf with hatred.	17 κρεισσων ξενισμος λαχανων προς φιλιαν και χαριν η παραθεσις μοσχων μετα εχθρας
18 A short-tempered man provokes conflicts. Whoever is patient tempers those who are stirred up.	18 ανηρ θυμωδης παρασκευαζει μαχας μακροθυμος δε και την μελλουσαν καταπραυνει [18α] μακροθυμος ανηρ κατασβεσει κρισεις ο δε ασεβης εγειρει μαλλον
19 The way of the slothful is like a hedge of thorns. The way of the just is without offense.	19 οδοι αεργων εστρωμεναι ακανθαις αι δε των ανδρειων τετριμμεναι
20 A wise son gladdens the father. But the foolish man despises his mother.	20 υιος σοφος ευφραινει πατερα υιος δε αφρων μυκτηριζει μητερα αυτου
21 Folly is gladness to the foolish. And the prudent man sets his own steps in order.	21 ανοητου τριβοι ενδεεις φρενων ανηρ δε φρονιμος κατευθυνων πορευεται
22 Intentions dissipate where there is no counsel. Yet truly, they are confirmed where there are many counselors.	22 υπερτιθενται λογισμους οι μη τιμωντες συνεδρια εν δε καρδιαις βουλευομενων μενει βουλη
23 A man rejoices in the verdict of his own mouth. And a word at the right time is best.	23 ου μη υπακουση ο κακος αυτη ουδε μη ειπη καιριον τι και καλον τω κοινω
24 The path of life is for the wise above, so that he may turn away from the end of Hell.	24 οδοι ζωης διανοηματα συνετου ινα εκκλινας εκ του αδου σωθη
25 The Lord will demolish the house of the arrogant. And He will make firm the borders of the widow.	25 οικους υβριστων κατασπα κυριος εστηρισεν δε οριον χηρας
26 Evil intentions are an abomination to the Lord. And pure conversation, most beautiful, shall be confirmed by him.	26 βδελυγμα κυριω λογισμος αδικος αγνων δε ρησεις σεμναι
27 Whoever pursues avarice disturbs his own house. But whoever hates bribes shall live. Through mercy and faith, sins are purged. But through the fear of the Lord, each one turns aside from evil.	27 εξολλυσιν εαυτον ο δωρολημπτης ο δε μισων δωρων λημψεις σωζεται [27α] ελεημοσυναις και πιστεσιν αποκαθαιρονται αμαρτιαι τω δε φοβω κυριου εκκλινει πας απο κακου
28 The mind of the just meditates on obedience. The mouth of the impious overflows with evils.	28 καρδιαι δικαιων μελετωσιν πιστεις στομα δε ασεβων αποκρινεται κακα [28α] δεκται παρα κυριω οδοι ανθρωπων δικαιων δια δε αυτων και οι εχθροι φιλοι γινονται
29 The Lord is distant from the impious. And he will heed the prayers of the just.	29 μακραν απεχει ο θεος απο ασεβων ευχαις δε δικαιων επακουει [29α] κρεισσων ολιγη λημψις μετα δικαιοσυνης η πολλα γενηματα μετα αδικιας [29β] καρδια ανδρος λογιζεσθω δικαια ινα υπο του θεου διορθωθη τα διαβηματα αυτου
30 The light of the eyes rejoices the soul. A good reputation fattens the bones.	30 θεωρων οφθαλμος καλα ευφραινει καρδιαν φημη δε αγαθη πιαινει οστα
31 The ear that listens to the reproofs of life shall abide in the midst of the wise.	31 -
32 Whoever rejects discipline despises his own soul. But whoever agrees to correction is a possessor of the heart.	32 ος απωθειται παιδειαν μισει εαυτον ο δε τηρων ελεγχους αγαπα ψυχην αυτου
33 The fear of the Lord is the discipline of wisdom. And humility precedes glory.	33 φοβος θεου παιδεια και σοφια και αρχη δοξης αποκριθησεται αυτη
