1 Le matin étant arrivé, tous les grands prêtres et les anciens du peuple tinrent un conseil contreJésus, en sorte de le faire mourir.	1 Then, when morning arrived, all the leaders of the priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, so that they might deliver him to death.
2 Et, après l'avoir ligoté, ils l'emmenèrent et le livrèrent à Pilate le gouverneur.	2 And they led him, bound, and handed him over to Pontius Pilate, the procurator.
3 Alors Judas, qui l'avait livré, voyant qu'il avait été condamné, fut pris de remords et rapporta les30 pièces d'argent aux grands prêtres et aux anciens:	3 Then Judas, who betrayed him, seeing that he had been condemned, regretting his conduct, brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the leaders of the priests and the elders,
4 "J'ai péché, dit-il, en livrant un sang innocent." Mais ils dirent: "Que nous importe? A toi devoir."	4 saying, “I have sinned in betraying just blood.” But they said to him: “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”
5 Jetant alors les pièces dans le sanctuaire, il se retira et s'en alla se pendre.	5 And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed. And going out, he hanged himself with a snare.
6 Ayant ramassé l'argent, les grands prêtres dirent: "Il n'est pas permis de le verser au trésor,puisque c'est le prix du sang."	6 But the leaders of the priests, having taken up the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the temple offerings, because it is the price of blood.”
7 Après délibération, ils achetèrent avec cet argent le "champ du potier" comme lieu de sépulturepour les étrangers.	7 Then, having taken counsel, they bought the potter’s field with it, as a burying place for sojourners.
8 Voilà pourquoi ce champ-là s'est appelé jusqu'à ce jour le "Champ du Sang."	8 For this reason, that field is called Haceldama, that is, ‘The Field of Blood,’ even to this very day.
9 Alors s'accomplit l'oracle de Jérémie le prophète: Et ils prirent les 30 pièces d'argent, le prix duPrécieux qu'ont apprécié des fils d'Israël,	9 Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of the one being appraised, whom they appraised before the sons of Israel,
10 et ils les donnèrent pour le champ du potier, ainsi que me l'a ordonné le Seigneur.	10 and they gave it for the potter’s field, just as the Lord appointed to me.”
11 Jésus fut amené en présence du gouverneur et le gouverneur l'interrogea en disant: "Tu es le Roides Juifs?" Jésus répliqua: "Tu le dis."	11 Now Jesus stood before the procurator, and the procurator questioned him, saying, “You are the king of the Jews?” Jesus said to him, “You are saying so.”
12 Puis, tandis qu'il était accusé par les grands prêtres et les anciens, il ne répondit rien.	12 And when he was accused by the leaders of the priests and the elders, he responded nothing.
13 Alors Pilate lui dit: "N'entends-tu pas tout ce qu'ils attestent contre toi?"	13 Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how much testimony they speak against you?”
14 Et il ne lui répondit sur aucun point, si bien que le gouverneur était fort étonné.	14 And he did not respond any word to him, so that the procurator wondered greatly.
15 A chaque Fête, le gouverneur avait coutume de relâcher à la foule un prisonnier, celui qu'ellevoulait.	15 Now on the solemn day, the procurator was accustomed to release to the people one prisoner, whomever they wished.
16 On avait alors un prisonnier fameux, nommé Barabbas.	16 And at that time, he had a notorious prisoner, who was called Barabbas.
17 Pilate dit donc aux gens qui se trouvaient rassemblés: "Lequel voulez-vous que je vous relâche,Barabbas, ou Jésus que l'on appelle Christ?"	17 Therefore, having been gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Who is it that you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?”
18 Il savait bien que c'était par jalousie qu'on l'avait livré.	18 For he knew that it was out of envy they had handed him over.
19 Or, tandis qu'il siégeait au tribunal, sa femme lui fit dire: "Ne te mêle point de l'affaire de cejuste; car aujourd'hui j'ai été très affectée dans un songe à cause de lui."	19 But as he was sitting in the place for the tribunal, his wife sent to him, saying: “It is nothing to you, and he is just. For I have experienced many things today through a vision for his sake.”
20 Cependant, les grands prêtres et les anciens persuadèrent aux foules de réclamer Barabbas et deperdre Jésus.	20 But the leaders of the priests and the elders persuaded the people, so that they would ask for Barabbas, and so that Jesus would perish.
21 Prenant la parole, le gouverneur leur dit: "Lequel des deux voulez-vous que je vous relâche?" Ilsdirent: "Barabbas."	21 Then, in response, the procurator said to them, “Which of the two do you want to be released to you?” But they said to him, “Barabbas.”
22 Pilate leur dit: "Que ferai-je donc de Jésus que l'on appelle Christ?" Ils disent tous: "Qu'il soitcrucifié!"	22 Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do about Jesus, who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified.”
23 Il reprit: "Quel mal a-t-il donc fait?" Mais ils criaient plus fort: "Qu'il soit crucifié!"	23 The procurator said to them, “But what evil has he done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let him be crucified.”
24 Voyant alors qu'il n'aboutissait à rien, mais qu'il s'ensuivait plutôt du tumulte, Pilate prit de l'eauet se lava les mains en présence de la foule, en disant: "Je ne suis pas responsable de ce sang; à vous de voir!"	24 Then Pilate, seeing that he was able to accomplish nothing, but that a greater tumult was occurring, taking water, washed his hands in the sight of the people, saying: “I am innocent of the blood of this just man. See to it yourselves.”
25 Et tout le peuple répondit: "Que son sang soit sur nous et sur nos enfants!"	25 And the entire people responded by saying, “May his blood be upon us and upon our children.”
26 Alors il leur relâcha Barabbas; quant à Jésus, après l'avoir fait flageller, il le livra pour êtrecrucifié.	26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But Jesus, having been scourged, he handed over to them, so that he would be crucified.
27 Alors les soldats du gouverneur prirent avec eux Jésus dans le Prétoire et ameutèrent sur luitoute la cohorte.	27 Then the soldiers of the procurator, taking Jesus up to the praetorium, gathered the entire cohort around him.
28 L'ayant dévêtu, ils lui mirent une chlamyde écarlate,	28 And stripping him, they put a scarlet cloak around him.
29 puis, ayant tressé une couronne avec des épines, ils la placèrent sur sa tête, avec un roseau danssa main droite. Et, s'agenouillant devant lui, ils se moquèrent de lui en disant: "Salut, roi des Juifs!"	29 And plaiting a crown of thorns, they placed it on his head, with a reed in his right hand. And genuflecting before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews.”
30 et, crachant sur lui, ils prenaient le roseau et en frappaient sa tête.	30 And spitting on him, they took the reed and struck his head.
31 Puis, quand ils se furent moqués de lui, ils lui ôtèrent la chlamyde, lui remirent ses vêtements etl'emmenèrent pour le crucifier.	31 And after they had mocked him, they stripped him of the cloak, and clothed him with his own garments, and they led him away to crucify him.
32 En sortant, ils trouvèrent un homme de Cyrène, nommé Simon, et le requirent pour porter sacroix.	32 But as they were going out, they came upon a man of Cyrene, named Simon, whom they compelled to take up his cross.
33 Arrivés à un lieu dit Golgotha, c'est-à-dire lieu dit du Crâne,	33 And they arrived at the place which is called Golgotha, which is the place of Calvary.
34 ils lui donnèrent à boire du vin mêlé de fiel; il en goûta et n'en voulut point boire.	34 And they gave him wine to drink, mixed with gall. And when he had tasted it, he refused to drink it.
35 Quand ils l'eurent crucifié, ils se partagèrent ses vêtements en tirant au sort.	35 Then, after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots, in order to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying: “They divided my garments among them, and over my vestment they cast lots.”
36 Puis, s'étant assis, ils restaient là à le garder.	36 And sitting down, they observed him.
37 Ils placèrent aussi au-dessus de sa tête le motif de sa condamnation ainsi libellé: "Celui-ci estJésus, le roi des Juifs."	37 And they set his accusation above his head, written as: THIS IS JESUS, KING OF THE JEWS.
38 Alors sont crucifiés avec lui deux brigands, l'un à droite et l'autre à gauche.	38 Then two robbers were crucified with him: one on the right and one on the left.
39 Les passants l'injuriaient en hochant la tête	39 But those passing by blasphemed him, shaking their heads,
40 et disant: "Toi qui détruis le Sanctuaire et en trois jours le rebâtis, sauve-toi toi-même, si tu esfils de Dieu, et descends de la croix!"	40 and saying: “Ah, so you would destroy the temple of God and in three days rebuild it! Save your own self. If you are the Son of God, descend from the cross.”
41 Pareillement les grands prêtres se gaussaient et disaient avec les scribes et les anciens:	41 And similarly, the leaders of the priests, with the scribes and the elders, mocking him, said:
42 "Il en a sauvé d'autres et il ne peut se sauver lui-même! Il est roi d'Israël: qu'il descendemaintenant de la croix et nous croirons en lui!	42 “He saved others; he cannot save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him descend now from the cross, and we will believe in him.
43 Il a compté sur Dieu; que Dieu le délivre maintenant, s'il s'intéresse à lui! Il a bien dit: Je suisfils de Dieu!"	43 He trusted in God; so now, let God free him, if he wills him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’ ”
44 Même les brigands crucifiés avec lui l'outrageaient de la sorte.	44 Then, the robbers who were crucified with him also reproached him with the very same thing.
45 A partir de la sixième heure, l'obscurité se fit sur toute la terre, jusqu'à la neuvième heure.	45 Now from the sixth hour, there was darkness over the entire earth, even until the ninth hour.
46 Et vers la neuvième heure, Jésus clama en un grand cri: "Eli, Eli, lema sabachtani", c'est-à-dire:"Mon Dieu, mon Dieu, pourquoi m'as-tu abandonné?"	46 And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying: “Eli, Eli, lamma sabacthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?”
47 Certains de ceux qui se tenaient là disaient en l'entendant: "Il appelle Elie, celui-ci!"	47 Then certain ones who were standing and listening there said, “This man calls upon Elijah.”
48 Et aussitôt l'un d'eux courut prendre une éponge qu'il imbiba de vinaigre et, l'ayant mise au boutd'un roseau, il lui donnait à boire.	48 And one of them, running quickly, took a sponge and filled it with vinegar, and he set it on a reed and he gave it to him to drink.
49 Mais les autres lui dirent: "Laisse! que nous voyions si Elie va venir le sauver!"	49 Yet truly, the others said, “Wait. Let us see whether Elijah will come to free him.”
50 Or Jésus, poussant de nouveau un grand cri, rendit l'esprit.	50 Then Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, gave up his life.
51 Et voilà que le voile du Sanctuaire se déchira en deux, du haut en bas; la terre trembla, lesrochers se fendirent,	51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn into two parts, from top to bottom. And the earth was shaken, and the rocks were split apart.
52 les tombeaux s'ouvrirent et de nombreux corps de saints trépassés ressuscitèrent:	52 And the tombs were opened. And many bodies of the saints, which had been sleeping, arose.
53 ils sortirent des tombeaux après sa résurrection, entrèrent dans la Ville sainte et se firent voir àbien des gens.	53 And going out from the tombs, after his resurrection, they went into the holy city, and they appeared to many.
54 Quant au centurion et aux hommes qui avec lui gardaient Jésus, à la vue du séisme et de ce quise passait, ils furent saisis d'une grande frayeur et dirent: "Vraiment celui-ci était fils de Dieu!"	54 Now the centurion and those who were with him, guarding Jesus, having seen the earthquake and the things that were done, were very fearful, saying: “Truly, this was the Son of God.”
55 Il y avait là de nombreuses femmes qui regardaient à distance, celles-là même qui avaient suiviJésus depuis la Galilée et le servaient,	55 And in that place, there were many women, at a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him.
56 entre autres Marie de Magdala, Marie, mère de Jacques et de Joseph, et la mère des fils deZébédée.	56 Among these were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
57 Le soir venu, il vint un homme riche d'Arimathie, du nom de Joseph, qui s'était fait, lui aussi,disciple de Jésus.	57 Then, when evening had arrived, a certain wealthy man from Arimathea, named Joseph, arrived, who himself was also a disciple of Jesus.
58 Il alla trouver Pilate et réclama le corps de Jésus. Alors Pilate ordonna qu'on le lui remît.	58 This man approached Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered the body to be released.
59 Joseph prit donc le corps, le roula dans un linceul propre	59 And Joseph, taking the body, wrapped it in a clean finely-woven linen cloth,
60 et le mit dans le tombeau neuf qu'il s'était fait tailler dans le roc; puis il roula une grande pierre àl'entrée du tombeau et s'en alla.	60 and he placed it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out of a rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and he went away.
61 Or il y avait là Marie de Magdala et l'autre Marie, assises en face du sépulcre.	61 Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were there, sitting opposite the sepulcher.
62 Le lendemain, c'est-à-dire après la Préparation, les grands prêtres et les Pharisiens se rendirenten corps chez Pilate	62 Then the next day, which is after the Preparation day, the leaders of the priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate together,
63 et lui dirent: "Seigneur, nous nous sommes souvenus que cet imposteur a dit, de son vivant:Après trois jours je ressusciterai!	63 saying: “Lord, we have remembered that that this seducer said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days, I will rise again.’
64 Commande donc que le sépulcre soit tenu en sûreté jusqu'au troisième jour, pour éviter que sesdisciples ne viennent le dérober et ne disent au peuple: Il est ressuscité des morts! Cette dernière imposture seraitpire que la première."	64 Therefore, order the sepulcher to be guarded until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples may come and steal him, and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead.’ And this last error would be worse than the first.”
65 Pilate leur répondit: "Vous avez une garde; allez et prenez vos sûretés comme vous l'entendez."	65 Pilate said to them: “You have a guard. Go, guard it as you know how.”
66 Ils allèrent donc et s'assurèrent du sépulcre, en scellant la pierre et en postant une garde.	66 Then, going out, they secured the sepulcher with guards, sealing the stone.
