¹ Aimez la justice, vous qui jugez la terre. ayez du Seigneur des sentiments dignes de Lui, et cherchez-Le dans la simplicité du coeur;	¹ Love justice, you who judge the land. Think of the Lord in goodness and seek him in simplicity of heart.
² en pierres carrées et taillées. Il y fit des murailles de soixante-dix coudées de large et de trente coudées de haut, et des tours qui avaient cent coudées de hauteur.	² For he is found by those who do not test him, yet he reveals himself to those who have faith in him.
³ Car les pensées perverses séparent de Dieu, et Sa puissance convainc de folie ceux qui la mettent à l'épreuve.	³ For perverse thoughts separate from God. But his virtue, when it is tested, corrects the foolish.
⁴ Aussi la sagesse n'entrera-t-elle pas dans une âme maligne, et elle n'habitera pas dans un corps assujetti au péché.	⁴ For wisdom will not enter into a malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subdued by sin.
⁵ Mais, la douzième année de son règne, Nabuchodonosor, roi des Assyriens, qui régnait dans la grande ville de Ninive, fit la guerre à Arphaxad, et le vainquit	⁵ For the holy spirit of instruction will flee from falsehood, and he will withdraw himself from thoughts that are without understanding, and he will not be reached when iniquity overcomes.
⁶ dans la grande plaine qui est appelée Ragaü, près de l'Euphrate, du Tigre et du Jadason, dans la plaine d'Erioch, roi des Eliciens.	⁶ For the spirit of wisdom is benevolent, and will not release the evil speaker from his talk, because God is a witness of his temperament, and a true examiner of his heart, and an auditor of his words.
⁷ Car l'Esprit du Seigneur remplit l'univers; et comme Il contient tout, Il connaît tout ce qui se dit.	⁷ For the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and he who contains all things, retains knowledge of every voice.
⁸ C'est pourquoi celui qui profère des paroles impies ne peut se cacher, et il n'échappera point au jugement qui châtie.	⁸ Therefore, he who speaks unjust things cannot escape notice, nor will the chastising judgment pass him by.
⁹ Car l'impie sera interrogé sur ses pensées; et ses discours iront jusqu'à Dieu, qui les entendra pour le punir de ses iniquités.	⁹ For inquiry will be made into the thoughts of the impious, his conversation also will reach the hearing of God, to the chastising of his iniquities.
¹⁰ Car l'oreille jalouse entend tout, et le tumulte des murmures ne Lui sera point caché.	¹⁰ For the zealous ear hears all things, and the disturbance of complaining will not be hidden.
¹¹ Gardez-vous donc des murmures qui ne servent de rien, et écartez de votre langue la médisance; car la parole la plus secrète ne tombera pas dans le vide, et la bouche qui ment tuera l'âme.	¹¹ Therefore, keep yourselves from complaining, which benefits nothing, and refrain your tongue from slander, because secret conversation will not pass into nothingness, and the mouth that deceives kills the soul.
¹² Ne cherchez pas la mort d'une manière jalouse par les égarements de votre vie, et n'achetez pas la perdition au prix des oeuvres de vos mains.	¹² Do not court death by the error of your life, nor procure your destruction by the works of your hands,
¹³ Car ce n'est pas Dieu qui a fait la mort, et Il ne Se réjouit pas de la perte des vivants.	¹³ because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the loss of the living.
¹⁴ Mais Il a créé toutes choses pour la vie, et toutes les créatures étaient saines à leur origine, et il n'y avait pas de poison d'anéantissement en elles, et le séjour des morts ne régnait pas sur la terre.	¹⁴ For he created all things that they might exist, and he made the nations of the world curable, and there is no medicine of extermination in them, nor a kingdom of hell upon the earth.
¹⁵ Car la justice est stable et immortelle.	¹⁵ For justice is perpetual and immortal.
¹⁶ Mais les méchants ont appelé la mort par leurs oeuvres et par leurs paroles, et, la croyant amie, ils en ont été consumés, et ils ont fait alliance avec elle, parce qu'ils étaient dignes d'une telle société.	¹⁶ But the impious, with hands and words, have called death to them, and, esteeming it a friend, they have fallen away and have made a covenant with death, because they deserved to take part in it.
