| 1 El Señor habló así a Moisés: | 1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said: |
| 2 «Di a la comunidad de los hijos de Israel: “Sed santos, porque yo, el Señor, vuestro Dios, soy santo. | 2 'Speak to the whole community of Israelites and say: "Be holy, for I, Yahweh your God, am holy. |
| 3 Respete cada uno a su madre y a su padre. Guardad mis sábados. Yo soy el Señor, vuestro Dios. | 3 "Each of you wil respect father and mother. "And you wil keep my Sabbaths; I am Yahweh your God. |
| 4 No acudáis a ídolos ni os hagáis dioses de fundición. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios. | 4 "Do not turn to idols and do not cast metal gods for yourselves. I am Yahweh your God. |
| 5 Cuando ofrezcáis al Señor sacrificios de comunión, hacedlo de forma que os sean aceptados. | 5 "If you offer a communion sacrifice to Yahweh, make it in such a way as to be acceptable. |
| 6 La víctima será comida el mismo día de su inmolación o al día siguiente. Lo que sobre para el tercer día se quemará. | 6 It must be eaten the same day or the day after; whatever is left on the third day must be burnt. |
| 7 Lo que se come al tercer día es alimento podrido: no será grato al Señor. | 7 If eaten on the third day it would be rotten food and not be acceptable. |
| 8 El que lo coma, cargará con su culpa, por haber profanado lo santo del Señor, y será excluido de su pueblo. | 8 Anyone who eats it must bear the consequences of this guilt, having profaned Yahweh's holiness; thatperson wil be outlawed from his people. |
| 9 Cuando seguéis la mies de vuestras tierras, no desorillarás el campo, ni espigarás los restos de tu mies. | 9 "When you reap the harvest of your land, you wil not reap to the very edges of the field, nor wil yougather the gleanings of the harvest; |
| 10 Tampoco harás rebusco de tu viña ni recogerás las uvas caídas. Se lo dejarás al pobre y al emigrante. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios. | 10 nor wil you strip your vineyard bare, nor pick up the fal en grapes. You will leave them for the poorand the stranger. I am Yahweh your God. |
| 11 No robaréis ni defraudaréis ni os engañaréis unos a otros. | 11 "You will not steal, nor deal deceitful y or fraudulently with your fel ow-citizen. |
| 12 No juraréis en falso por mi nombre, profanando el nombre de tu Dios. Yo soy el Señor. | 12 You wil not swear by my name with intent to deceive and thus profane the name of your God. I amYahweh. |
| 13 No explotarás a tu prójimo ni le robarás. No dormirá contigo hasta la mañana siguiente el jornal del obrero. | 13 You wil not exploit or rob your fel ow. You wil not keep back the labourer's wage until next morning. |
| 14 No maldecirás al sordo ni pondrás tropiezo al ciego. Teme a tu Dios. Yo soy el Señor. No daréis sentencias injustas. | 14 You wil not curse the dumb or put an obstacle in the way of the blind, but will fear your God. I amYahweh. |
| 15 No serás parcial ni por favorecer al pobre ni por honrar al rico. Juzga con justicia a tu prójimo. | 15 "You will not be unjust in administering justice. You wil neither be partial to the poor nor overawed bythe great, but will administer justice to your fel ow-citizen justly. |
| 16 No andarás difamando a tu gente, ni declararás en falso contra la vida de tu prójimo. Yo soy el Señor. | 16 You wil not go about slandering your own family, nor will you put your neighbour's life in jeopardy. Iam Yahweh. |
| 17 No odiarás de corazón a tu hermano, pero reprenderás a tu prójimo, para que no cargues tú con su pecado. | 17 You wil not harbour hatred for your brother. You will reprove your fel ow-countryman firmly and thusavoid burdening yourself with a sin. |
| 18 No te vengarás de los hijos de tu pueblo ni les guardarás rencor, sino que amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Yo soy el Señor. | 18 You wil not exact vengeance on, or bear any sort of grudge against, the members of your race, butwil love your neighbour as yourself. I am Yahweh. |
| 19 Guardad mis leyes. No cruzarás ganado de diversas especies. No sembrarás tu campo con dos especies diferentes de grano. No usarás ropa de tela de dos clases. | 19 "You will keep my laws. "You will not mate your cattle with those of another kind; you wil not sow twokinds of grain in your field; you wil not wear a garment made from two kinds of fabric. |
| 20 Si un hombre se acuesta con una sierva desposada con otro, pero que no ha sido rescatada ni manumitida, se hará una investigación, pero no son reos de muerte, pues ella no era libre; | 20 "If someone has intercourse with a woman who is the concubine slave of a man from whom she hasnot been redeemed and she has not been given her freedom, he wil be liable for a fine, but they will not incurdeath, since she was not a free woman. |
| 21 él ofrecerá al Señor, como sacrificio de reparación, a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro, un carnero de reparación. | 21 He wil bring a sacrifice of reparation for Yahweh to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. This wil be aram of reparation, |
| 22 Con el carnero de reparación, el sacerdote hará expiación ante el Señor por el pecado que cometió, y se le perdonará su pecado. | 22 and with the ram of reparation the priest wil perform the rite of expiation for him before Yahweh forthe sin committed; and the sin he has committed wil be forgiven. |
| 23 Cuando entréis en la tierra y plantéis toda clase de árboles frutales, no recogeréis sus frutos inmediatamente; durante tres años los consideraréis como incircuncisos: no se podrán comer. | 23 "Once you have entered the country and planted any kind of fruit tree, you will regard its fruit asuncircumcised. For three years you wil count it as uncircumcised and it wil not be eaten; |
| 24 El cuarto año todos sus frutos serán consagrados festivamente al Señor. | 24 in the fourth year, al its fruit wil be consecrated to Yahweh in a feast of praise; |
| 25 El quinto año podréis ya comer de su fruto y almacenar su producto. Yo soy el Señor, vuestro Dios. | 25 and in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that it may yield you even more. I am Yahweh your God. |
| 26 No comáis carne con su sangre. No practiquéis la adivinación ni la magia. | 26 "You will eat nothing with blood in it. You wil not practise divination or magic. |
| 27 No os rapéis en redondo la cabellera, ni os recortéis los bordes de la barba. | 27 "You will not round off your hair at the edges or trim the edges of your beard. |
| 28 No os hagáis incisiones en vuestra carne por un difunto; ni os hagáis tatuajes. Yo soy el Señor. | 28 You wil not gash your bodies when someone dies, and you will not tattoo yourselves. I am Yahweh. |
| 29 No profanarás a tu hija prostituyéndola: se prostituiría la tierra y se llenaría de indecencias. | 29 "Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the country itself will become prostitutedand fil ed with incest. |
| 30 Guardad mis sábados y honrad mi Santuario. Yo soy el Señor. | 30 "You will keep my Sabbaths and revere my sanctuary. I am Yahweh. |
| 31 No acudáis a nigromantes ni consultéis a adivinos. Quedaríais impuros por su causa. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios. | 31 "Do not have recourse to the spirits of the dead or to magicians; they wil defile you. I, Yahweh, amyour God. |
| 32 Álzate ante las canas y honra al anciano. Teme a tu Dios. Yo soy el Señor. | 32 "You will stand up in the presence of grey hair, you wil honour the person of the aged and fear yourGod. I am Yahweh. |
| 33 Si un emigrante reside con vosotros en vuestro país, no lo oprimiréis. | 33 "If you have resident aliens in your country, you wil not molest them. |
| 34 El emigrante que reside entre vosotros será para vosotros como el indígena: lo amarás como a ti mismo, porque emigrantes fuisteis en Egipto. Yo soy el Señor vuestro Dios. | 34 You wil treat resident aliens as though they were native-born and love them as yourself -- for youyourselves were once aliens in Egypt. I am Yahweh your God. |
| 35 No cometáis injusticias ni en los juicios, ni en medidas de longitud, de peso o de capacidad. | 35 "You will not be unjust in administering justice as regards measures of length, weight or capacity. |
| 36 Tened balanzas exactas, pesas exactas, fanegas exactas y cántaros exactos. Yo soy el Señor, vuestro Dios, que os sacó de Egipto. | 36 You wil have just scales, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin. I am Yahweh your God whobrought you out of Egypt; |
| 37 Cumplid todas mis leyes y mandatos poniéndolos por obra. Yo soy el Señor”». | 37 hence you are to keep al my laws and all my customs and put them into practice. I am Yahweh." ' |
