Josué 22

1 Josué convocó a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés,	1 In the same time, Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the one half tribe of Manasseh.
2 y les dijo: «Habéis cumplido todo lo que os mandó Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, y habéis atendido a mis órdenes siempre que os he mandado algo.	2 And he said to them: “You have done all that Moses, the servant of the Lord, instructed you. You have also obeyed me in all things.
3 No habéis abandonado a vuestros hermanos durante tan largo tiempo hasta el día de hoy; habéis cumplido la orden que os encomendó Yahveh vuestro Dios.	3 Neither have you forsaken your brothers during this long time, even to the present day, keeping the orders of the Lord your God.
4 Ahora Yahveh vuestro Dios ha dado a vuestros hermnaos el descanso que les había prometido. Volveos, pues, e id a vuestras tiendas, a la tierra de vuestra propiedad, la que os dio Moisés, siervo de Yahveh, al otro lado del Jordán.	4 Therefore, since the Lord your God has given your brothers peace and quiet, just as he promised: return, and go into your tents and into the land of your possession, which Moses, the servant of the Lord, delivered to you beyond the Jordan.
5 Unicamente preocupaos de guardar el mandato y la Ley que os dio Moisés, siervo de Yahveh: que améis a Yahveh vuestro Dios, que sigáis siempre sus caminos, que guardéis sus mandamientos y os mantengáis unidos a él y le sirváis con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma».	5 And may you continue to observe attentively, and to work to fulfill, the commandment and the law that Moses, the servant of the Lord, instructed to you, so that you may love the Lord your God, and walk in all his ways, and keep all his commandments, and cling to him, and serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”
6 Josué los bendijo y los despidió, y ellos se fueron a sus tiendas.	6 And Joshua blessed them, and he sent them away. And they returned to their tents.
7 Moisés había dado a la media tribu de Manasés su parte en Basán; a la otra media se la dio Josué entre sus hermanos, al lado occidental del Jordán. Cuando los mandó Josué a sus tiendas, les dio la bendición	7 Now to the one half tribe of Manasseh, Moses had given a possession in Bashan. And therefore, to the one half that was left over, Joshua gave a lot among the remainder of their brothers across the Jordan, in the western region. And when he had blessed them and dismissed them to their tents,
8 y les dijo: «Volvéis a vuestras tiendas con grandes riquezas, rebaños numerosos, plata, oro, bronce, hierro y gran cantidad de vestidos; repartid con vuestros hermanos el botín de vuestros enemigos».	8 he said to them: “Return to your settlements with much substance and wealth, with silver and gold, brass and iron, and a multitude of garments. Divide the spoils of your enemies with your brothers.”
9 Los rubenitas y los gaditas, con la media tribu de Manasés, se volvieron y dejaron a los israelitas en Silo, en la tierra de Canaán, para volver a la tierra de Galaad, tierra de su propiedad donde se habían establecido según la orden de Yahveh dada por medio de Moisés.	9 And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh returned, and they went away from the sons of Israel at Shiloh, which is situated in Canaan, so that they might enter into Gilead, the land of their possession, which they had obtained according to the order of the Lord, by the hand of Moses.
10 Cuando llegaron a los circulos de piedras del Jordán, en tierra de Canaán, los rubenitas y los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés levantaron allí un altar a orillas del Jordán, un altar de grandioso aspecto.	10 And when they had arrived at the hills of the Jordan in the land of Canaan, they built an altar of immense magnitude beside the Jordan.
11 Se enteraron los israelitas y dijeron: «Mirad, los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés han levantado ese altar, frente al país de Canaán, junto a los círculos de piedras del Jordán, del lado de los israelitas».	11 And when the sons of Israel had heard of it, and certain messengers had reported to them that the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and of the one half tribe of Manasseh had built an altar in the land of Canaan, upon the hills of the Jordan, facing the sons of Israel,
12 Al oír esto los israelitas, se reunió en Silo toda la comunidad de los israelitas para hacerles guerra.	12 they all assembled at Shiloh, so that they might go up and battle against them.
13 Los israelitas enviaron donde los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés, al país de Galaad, al sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar	13 And in the interim, they sent to them, in the land of Gilead, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the priest,
14 y a diez principales con él, un principal por cada familia, por cada tribu de Israel: cada uno de ellos era cabeza de su familia en los clanes de Israel.	14 and ten leaders with him, one from each tribe.
15 Cuando llegaron donde los rubenitas, los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés, al país de Galaad, les hablaron así:	15 And they went to the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and of the one half tribe of Manasseh, in the land of Gilead, and they said to them:
16 «Esto ha dicho toda la comunidad de Yahveh: ¿Qué significa esa prevaricación que habéis cometido contra el Dios de Israel, apartándoos hoy de Yahveh, al construiros un altar, rebelándoos hoy contra Yahveh?	16 “All the people of the Lord declare this: What is this transgression? Why have you forsaken the Lord, the God of Israel, by building a sacrilegious altar, and by withdrawing from the worship of him?
17 «¿No teníamos bastante con el crimen de Peor, del que hoy todavía no hemos acabado de purificarnos, a pesar de que vino la plaga sobre la comunidad de Yahveh?	17 Is it a small thing to you that you have sinned with Baal of Peor, and that the stain of that crime continues among us, even to the present day? And many of the people have fallen.
18 Si vosotros hoy os apartáis de Yahveh, hoy os rebeláis vosotros contra Yahveh, y mañana se encenderá él contra toda la comunidad de Israel.	18 And yet you have forsaken the Lord today, and tomorrow his wrath will rage against all of Israel.
19 «Ahora bien, si nos parece impura vuestra propiedad, pasad a la tierra de propiedad de Yahveh, donde ha fijado su morada, y estableceos entre nosotros. Pero no os rebeléis contra Yahveh, ni nos arrastréis en vuestra rebeldía al construiros un altar aparte del altar de Yahveh nuestro Dios.	19 But if you consider the land of your possession to be unclean, cross over to the land in which is the tabernacle of the Lord, and live among us. But do not withdraw from the Lord, and from our fellowship, by building an altar contrary to the altar of the Lord our God.
20 ¿No prevaricó Akán, hijo de Zéraj, en el anatema, y la Coléra alcanzó a toda la comunidad de Israel, aunque él no era más que un solo individuo? ¿No murió por su crimen?»	20 Did not Achan, the son of Zerah, go against the commandment of the Lord, and so his wrath was laid over all the people of Israel? And he was only one man. If only he had perished in his wickedness alone!”
21 Respondieron los rubenitas, los gaditas y la media tribu de Manasés y dijeron a los jefes de los clanes de Israel:	21 And the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and of the one half tribe of Manasseh responded to the leaders of the delegation from Israel:
22 «El Dios de los dioses, Yahveh, el Dios de los dioses, Yahveh, lo sabe bien, y que lo sepa también Israel: si ha habido por nuestra parte rebelión o prevaricación contra Yahveh, que no nos salve hoy;	22 “The Lord, the almighty God, the Lord, the almighty God, he knows, and also Israel will understand: If we have constructed this altar with intent of transgression, let him not preserve us, but instead punish us immediately.
23 y si hemos levantado un altar para apartarnos de Yahveh y para ofrecer en él holocausto y oblación o para hacer sobre él sacrificios de comunión, que Yahveh nos lo demande.	23 And if we have acted with a mind so that we might present upon it holocausts, and sacrifice, and victims of peace offerings, let him inquire and judge.
24 En verdad, lo hemos hecho así por preocupación y razonadamente, diciéndonos: El día de mañana podrían decir vuestros hijos a los nuestros: “¿Qué tenéis que ver vosotros con Yahveh el Dios de Israel?	24 Instead, we have acted with this greater thought and design, that we would say: Tomorrow your sons will say to our sons: ‘What is there between you and the Lord, the God of Israel?
25 Yahveh ha puesto entre nosotros y vosotros, rubenitas y gaditas, la frontera del Jordán. No tenéis parte con Yahveh.” Así vuestros hijos harían que nuestros hijos dejaran de temer a Yahveh.	25 The Lord has stationed the river Jordan as the border between us and you, O sons of Reuben, O sons of Gad. And therefore, you have no part in the Lord.’ And by this occasion, your sons would turn away our sons from the fear of the Lord. And so we sought something better,
26 «Y nos hemos dicho: Vamos a construir este altar, pero no para holocaustos, ni sacrificios,	26 and we said: Let us build us an altar, not for holocausts, and not to offer victims,
27 sino para que sea testigo entre nosotros y vosotros y entre nuestros descendientes después de nosotros, de que rendimos culto a Yahveh en su presencia con nuestros holocaustos, nuestras víctimas y nuestros sacrificios de comunión. Así no podrán decir mañana vuestros hijos a los nuestros: “No tenéis parte con Yahveh.”	27 but as a testimony between us and you, and between our descendents and your progeny, so that we may serve the Lord, and so that it may be our right to offer holocausts, and victims, and peace offerings, and so that tomorrow your sons may not say to our sons: ‘You have no part in the Lord.’
28 No hemos dicho: Si llega a suceder que nos hablen así a nosotros o el día de mañana a nuestros descendientes, les podremos responder: “Mirad la edificación del altar de Yahveh que hicieron nuestros padres, no para ofrecer holocaustos ni sacrificios, sino como testigo entre nosotros y vosotros.”	28 And if they decide to say this, they shall respond to them: ‘Behold, the altar of the Lord, which our fathers made, not for holocausts, and not for sacrifice, but instead as a testimony between us and you.’
29 Lejos de nosotros rebelarnos contra Yahveh y desertar hoy de su servicio, levantando, para ofrecer en él holocaustos, oblaciones o sacrificios, un altar aparte del altar de Yahveh nuestro Dios erigido delante de su morada».	29 May this wickedness be far from us, such that we would withdraw from the Lord, and would forsake his paths, by constructing an altar to offer holocausts, and sacrifices, and victims, contrary to the altar of the Lord our God, which was built before his tabernacle.”
30 Cuando el sacerdote Pinjás, los principales de la comunidad y los jefes de los clanes de Israel que le acompañaban, oyeron las palabras pronunciadas por los gaditas, los rubenitas y los manasitas, les pareció bien.	30 And when Phinehas, the priest, and the leaders of the delegation who were with him, had heard this, they were pleased. And they accepted very willingly the words of the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and of the one half tribe of Manasseh.
31 Y el sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar, dijo a los rubenitas, los gaditas y los manasitas: «Ahora reconocemos que Yahveh está en medio de nosotros, pues no habéis cometido tan grande prevaricación contra él. Así habéis salvado a los israelitas de la mano de Yahveh».	31 And Phinehas, the priest, the son of Eleazar, said to them: “Now we know that the Lord is with us. For you are a stranger to this transgression. And so you have freed the sons of Israel from the hand of the Lord.”
32 El sacerdote Pinjás, hijo de Eleazar, y los principales, dejando a los rubenitas y a los gaditas, volvieron del país de Galaad al de Canaán, a donde los israelitas, y les dieron la respuesta.	32 And he returned with the leaders, from the sons of Reuben and of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, into the parts of Canaan, to the sons of Israel. And he reported to them.
33 La cosa pareció bien a los israelitas: los israelitas dieron gracias a Dios y no hablaron más de hacerles la guerra y devastar el territorio habitado por los rubenitas y los gaditas.	33 And the word pleased all who heard it. And the sons of Israel praised God, and they no longer said that they would go up against them, and fight, and destroy the land of their possession.
34 Los rubenitas y gaditas llamaron al altar..., porque decían: «Será testigo entre nosotros de que Yahveh es Dios».	34 And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar that they had built: Our testimony that the Lord himself is God.
